The creator of the ILOVEYOU Virus is our phone repairman. My dad visits his shop at the mall for phones and repairs when I was little, even called him "Kuya Neil". Didn't even know he was the creator until 2 years ago. He's a good and funny guy, gives discount prices when we buy phones. My dad said that kuya Neil regrets making the virus, and never wants to talk about it again.
That's crazy,what a small world and I like to see happy endings in bad things at least he felt regret about his action and wished he never did it,and now he's helping people in need 😌♥️
I absolutely love virus investigations. Muta’s whole series on viruses is what inspired me to start school to eventually get into cybersecurity. Would love to see more of these as well as the stories behind some state level cyber attacks.

18:40 we actually have one in our country lol. it even tells how much people are in the place you are in. its made by the government and people have to download it to able to get in, anywhere. you only need to turn on bluetooth and location to detect people nearby (which is the new update that we have) edit: its called mysejahtera which is only available in Malaysia

I recently opened a file that wound up having two trojan horses and my game was hacked, google accounts attacked, discord hacked, and an attempt made to log into my twitter. I recently learned so much more about malware (apparently the one that I was told it was is called 'redline'? and that it apparently took data from my google chrome cookies etc), and so yeah- that is extremely scary! Scary enough that I'm paranoid to even plug my external hard drive into my pc since then as I'm afraid there may be traces of it left on my HDD. ;-; I wouldn't mind learning about cyber security some day or just in general being more tech savvy so I can be more aware and less anxious. The very first virus I EVER got was when I was younger and it was a worm of all things.
Did you completely wipe your HDD? if yes then theres no need to worry (mostly) if you want to be 100% secure, there are apps that just write random stuff on your hdd to fill it up and then completely wipe it so even if someone tries to restore it, all theyll get is random 0 and 1s. Also change all of your passwords (dont use the same password on all accounts) and enable 2step identification via email AND phone.

FYI most modern electronics have a system that prevents USB killers from killing the whole computer, so usb killers will only kill the port their plugged into

But a cool thing to check out would be the O.M.G. cable that is used for hacking iPhones and mac devices. It's all about the kind of malware on the USB usually but device security keeps getting better though hackers find better methods every day.

There was an old Microsoft widget you could download, released in 1999, called Bonzi Buddy. This little monkey was your "virtual assistant" but behind it's stupid dancing animations lurked spyware and adware. not sure if this is considered a virus, but it's still interesting in my opinion

It technically isn't a virus, it's a malware because a virus is a malicious entity that can spread via e-mail or other. If it doesn't spread, it technically isn't a virus.
This is actually pretty cool that you uploaded this, I am taking a class this year that is based off the internet, the first quarter I had cyber security, second quarter (rn) I have digital systems and next semester I’ll be having engineering design all with the same teacher but this does help me with my class! side note 😭 At 18:55 we do have an app here in the Middle East that notifies us if we are in close approximate to an infected person, it’s called Ehteraz and it works because citiziens are obligated to have this app up and running to be allowed in public places and it stores medical details (covid testing, vaccine, result) in it through the health care system. Just thought idk let you know cause that clip was so funny to me 😭😭
I still remember reading years ago when ransomware was a theory until some grey hat hackers decided to put out a proof of concept back in either '06 or '08. Thanks to that, ransomware is what it is today.

It turned out to be ransomware, the ransomware stated that he had downloaded CP on the computer and it wouldn't return access until he paid a thousand dollars. IT team had to take the tower for virus removal and repair. And recently, our timecard system was cyber attacked. Don't click on random files, get an anti-virus application.

there is a 40% chance I have a virus right now on my computer even with my antivirus and I just dont know it, or just something unrelated the only way I know of this is because my pc sometimes goes slow. I did however uninstall programs that I no longer use which actually worked and it doesnt slow down that often anymore.
The only antivirus you’ll ever need is the pre installed windows antivirus, if you use the windows OS. If it’s going too slow for your liking, you should select the option to wipe your hard drive and set it back to factory settings from the windows settings application. It’ll get rid of any viruses or malware you have on your pc
@@cumbawl Nope, there are many instances where you NEED an antivirus, for example: - if you download indie games a lot - if you play any modded games - if you use virtual machines - if you want to visit the dark web - if you live with any not tech savvy person There are really quite a lot, so you shouldn’t be saying stuff like that lol, at least say “it’s not necessary for most people” not that you won’t ever need an antivirus (because windows defender sucks, not even considered an antivirus in my opinion). The rest of the comment is alright but the first part bothered me. Also to OP, I’m pretty sure you don’t have a virus unless you download sketchy stuff and the antivirus you have is not a trusted one, your PC might just be old.

Can't you virus scan devices? Just scan your device with Windows Defender and Malwarebytes and you'll be good

The only antivirus you’ll ever need is the pre installed windows antivirus, if you use the windows OS. If it’s going too slow for your liking, you should select the option to wipe your hard drive and set it back to factory settings from the windows settings application. It’ll get rid of any viruses or malware you have on your pc
@@cumbawl Nope, there are many instances where you NEED an antivirus, for example:
- if you download indie games a lot
- if you play any modded games
- if you use virtual machines
- if you want to visit the dark web
- if you live with any not tech savvy person
There are really quite a lot, so you shouldn’t be saying stuff like that lol, at least say “it’s not necessary for most people” not that you won’t ever need an antivirus (because windows defender sucks, not even considered an antivirus in my opinion).

Also to OP, I’m pretty sure you don’t have a virus unless you download sketchy stuff and the antivirus you have is not a trusted one, your PC might just be old.

Use Malwarebytes and your brain. Just don't download sketchy files. Btw don't go to tuv for computer info, he is your everyday skid. He forgot so much malware + ransomware is not a trogan
