Being a quilter who uses half square triangles to make my blocks, I’m thrilled to know that half square triangles can be made in crochet. What a treat! Thank you.
14:59 - Half and half squares 22:22 - Attaching the first half and half square 25:31 - Making the second half and half square 30:05 - Adding the corner squares 34:40 - Finishing round on completed square 36:40 - Joining 40:30 - Border 42:59 - Summary of border rows I hope that this helps...
By far, this produces the neatest half square block that ive attempted. Then the join as you go is explained and demonstrated clearly. When you keep the second color strand where you do, it is ready to start the joining block in the right color without clipping ends and sewing in tails at that time. Yes there are tails to be sewn, but that is the price we must pay to produce such a lovely, lovely outcome. What a great project this is going to be! Thank you so much. I appreciate your time.
This is so very gorgeous. This pattern is above my skill level at the moment but I have saved it for when I get my bearings a bit better. Thank you for sharing and I am really sorry someone is stealing your art. It’s such a crappy thing to do. Good luck. 😊
Glad I got your pattern from the right source, just checked. Super keen to make the quilt for myself, but I think I'll be using the squares in some smaller projects before I get time. Good to have some video to check in on for clarity, will bookmark
Thank you so much for creating this beautiful Star of David blanket called Quiet Sky...perfect name. Ive been looking for a pattern like this for a long time. I have a special jewish friend that i want to make this for. Shes a young 80ish yr old 36:12 woman. I believe shell love this. A question...can you make several small squares then connect them later. Didnt know how many small squares of each i needed. Also, so sorry someone is stealing your hard work. I pray you can stop them. Thank you for letting us know. Prayers ❤
Thank you for the warning! So sorry to hear that that man stole your pattern and others! Karma will definitely get hold of him! I use to make quilts and your pattern is one of my favourite quilt patterns! Thank you for the video, it is very helpful! popping over to Etsy to buy it at last! Bless you and all other great designers! 🥰🧶
Absolutely fantastic! This is stunning! I’m floored by how simple each piece can be, although it definitely takes dedication to create all the parts and put them together, however, the final product is soooo well worth it!
Just finished my first block and I’m glad that I found this explanation for join as you go. I’ve never done it, and I was wrapping my working yarn in like an extra time so the joints were a little more noticeable.
I started today and I’ve already made one full square it looks great thanks to your guidance I can’t wait to make more and then eventually a cool quilt like blanket
Thank you for the beautiful pattern. It's distressing to know that there are some truly awful people out there. I've visited your site and made my purchase directly from you, I also grabbed a free download. Can't wait to get into them!
First, I'm so glad I found this channel this morning! This "Quiet Sky" is absolutely breathtaking!!! Second, thank you so much for the warning! As soon as I saw this blanket I knew I must have the pattern & want the designer to get the credit as well as the proceeds. I'll follow your link to Ravelry 🥰❤🔥 Edited to add I liked 👍 & Subbed!
Got mine today after I checked who I was purchasing it from, sorry to hear you have been scammed by this horrible person. I always do a search on the person I buy from.👍👍👍
for me this would be a labor of love. As I certainly do not need another blanket but I love this pattern as a quilt and will certainly consider crocheting one. thanks for taking the time for making this tutorial!
Thankfully, I haven't been scammed by this guy, but I'll keep an eye out and report back to you or any of the other creators if I find any of his listings! What a shameless thief. Your patterns are beautiful! Great work, keep it up 😊
I love this! Also my bedroom is purple I have yellow grey and purple in my house so I can't wait to make this! Thank you! And thnx for the warning too about the scammer
I can see that you are handling the tails as you finish the squares. How easy/difficult is it to "join as you go" when you have multiple squares connected?
I'm so in love with your pattern.it's so beautiful thanks for sharing!! I got a little bit confused at 35:20 you saying chain 2 and double crochet border but you are making a single crochet border 🤔 greez from vienna 🌸(sry for my Englisch😅)
A little confused about the stitch around each block. The written directions say SC and it looks like you are doing a SC but you keep saying a DC. Which one is correct? Thank you
These are English instructions. An sc American is dc in English. We don’t have sc in English instructions. I hope that’s clear. You can Google the equivalents.
She is using UK terminology in the video The US slip stitch is called single crochet in the UK A US single crochet is called a double crochet in UK terminology A US double crochet is called treble crochet in the UK
@sunnydaycrochet7222 It's a little more complicated than that. It's possible to make items using nothing but slipstitch. That's when the British call slipstitch "single crochet."
Time to stop this guy. How? Just pin that Mickey Mouse pattern on your Pintrest account. Disney will do the work for you when they come down on him for stealing the likeness of their work. You've never seen someone spend a million to stop another from earning a dollar off their work. It's legendary.
Beautiful patter. Thank you so much for holding the hook in the traditional way and not as a screwdriver…..I’ve been crocheting for 50 years and seeing the ugly way so many are using the hook these days truly hurts my eyes.
Well... It depends😢i've started learning crocheting several months ago, and tried to hold the hook traditionally... But my hand started hurt😢😢😢for me holding a hook like a knife (or a screwdriver) is ok🤷♀️
I can't hold my hook that way because my RA and hands just don't agree with holding the hook any other way, then like a knife or screwdriver. I don't really see it as a right or wrong way. I think it really just depends on what's more comfortable and adaptable for each person, individually. 😊
There are two traditional ways (that I'm aware of and I've been crocheting for over 40 years and following the crochet community for about 25) for holding a crochet hook. One is to hold it like a pen and the other is a like a knife. Neither is superior to the other. You may find that some techniques are a little awkward, depending on how you hold your hook, but you make do or find a work around. You also may find some ergonomic hooks don't work for you. Don't laugh, but I crochet like a pen with my right hand, and I crochet like a knife with my left. I am seriously out of practice lefty. I used to teach crochet and being able to show left handed students was helpful. I'm in the camp of, "it doesn't matter how you got there, as long as you got there." Don't even start with how you hold your yarn, lol. (I also have RA and some days, it's interesting.) 😊

It makes me so sad that people feel the need to steal and do wrong like that toward others.
Thank you for making this video, it is VERY helpful. Now I can move forward with confidence. This is a beautiful blanket.

As do I. I’m definitely a visual learner like you.
Same, I am a visual learner.

Love the quilt look of this pattern.

I'm using UK crochet terms. UK double crochet is a US single crochet.
@@Madebyanita oh OK thanks 😅 ❤️
Beautiful 😢❤
Çok güzel olmuş. Yapımını öğrendin. Teşekkür ederim. Arkadaşımın torununa hediye yapacağım.İnşaAllah
Beautiful.
Purchased on Etsy
Scammers invade everywhere. Thsi is so disappointing.
How many square does one make
In the written pattern it says 'complete the square as it would be a normal granny square'. What does it mean?
With the pattern are the materials you used listed as well?
Yes, all the materials are listed.
A little confused about the stitch around each block. The written directions say SC and it looks like you are doing a SC but you keep saying a DC. Which one is correct? Thank you

She typically has patterns for both UK and US terms. I followed the hyperlink to her site and she offers both for this pattern 😊
She is using UK terminology in the video
The US slip stitch is called single crochet in the UK
A US single crochet is called a double crochet in UK terminology
A US double crochet is called treble crochet in the UK
@@esmeraldagreen1992there is no single crochet in UK terminology, it is a slip stitch in both US and UK.

It is extremely hard to hear you on ALL devices. Had to put on subs just to understand what you were saying.

It’s in the description and also pinned to the top of the comments.

What a stupid comment. There is no "traditional way" to hold the hook other than what you learned and works for you.
