Nice build. Hasegawa 1/200 Airliners are very nice. My favorite one is their B727-200. I Think is the best made plastic model kit from this Iconic aircraft. Thanks for the video.

You bet! Lately instead of using GX100, Ive been using Alclad Aqua Gloss. Just as good IMO, but you can use it straight from the bottle so its easier to work with. Also, the lacquer in GX100 can damage the Alclad (also lacquer) aluminum leading edges if youre not careful. For a plane like this without fine camo details, you can get by with a larger needle airbrush if you want. Finally, sky grey is a good primer and Ive also used a lot of Mr Surfacer 1500 as well. Not sure if its mentioned in the video, but I also use Mr Color leveling thinner....had trouble finding Tamiya thinner in the shops so I switched and have had no issues.
Great video - I'll probably have heaps of questions. Why do you use a primer? Is it a different type of paint to the final coat or just a different colour? Do you use any special brand of sandpaper? How can I achieve a glossy finish to my paint job? Also it looks like you cut new seam lines in the areas you have applied the putty and sanded. Is that right? Which masking tape do you use?
The primer helps show if the seam lines are fully removed and also unify different colored surfaces. Its similar to paint and sometimes I just use black or grey paint (same type as the final coat). Nothing special with the sandpaper, just various grits from 300 - 6000. Bought a multi pack online and it lasts forever. I did re-scribe several panel lines that were partially removed with my puttying/sanding. You can get a glossy finish by light sanding and also using a gloss clear coat. The surface must be ultra smooth to get a really glossy finish. Lookup Micromesh polishing cloths. Use them to very lightly sand before and after your gloss coat. If its still not glossy enough, repeat the process. Polishing also helps with the shine. Lookup Tamyia or Novus polish (plenty of other brands as well). I use Tamiya tape (yellow). Sometimes for large non-precision coverage I use regular old grey masking tape or blue painters tape. Hope this helps and good luck!
I love your videos! They are very informative. Does it matter as to what color primer you use on these models? For example, would using white instead of grey yield the same results?
Thank you! For primers, technically they can affect how your final coat looks. For this model, a white or light grey primer would yield very similar results. Since my top coat is white, I want to stay away from dark grey or black primers because that will either show thru the final coat or take many white coats cover over. In general it's helpful to use a primer that's either lighter, or at least similar color to your final coat.
Ill wait 12-24 hours for the putty I use on the seams, mainly just until its dry and hard. Its a relatively small amount of putty so I dont necessarily wait multiple days.
They're from an art supply store (Michael's). Inexpensive plastic cups that come in a 12 pack. One could probably clean them and reuse, but since they are cheap, they are 1 time use for me.
@@ScaleModelAssassin skymarks, it's my faverate out of my skymarks models, it's Snap-Fit, so not really a kit, it has the most detail out of my Collection.
Hey, sorry to post a question here regarding decals but I couldn't find an email address for you. Four years ago you did a video on creating decals with an inkjet using Testers decal paper. My question, did you not have to use a liquid decal coat first before printing? Cheers.
No worries and no I did not. The decal paper is already coated and I just stuck it straight in the printer. Sprayed a sealer on after the ink had dried.
That came out awesome buddy
Thank you very much!
Yea true
Excellent video. Very nice the way you showed so much building detail. That's a sharp model. Dave
Thanks! I try to keep it both informative and entertaining
You are no joke !! Great job.
👍👍
Great job with the color matching!
I have this kit and am considering getting another. The Draw Decals site has some great options.
Thank you, I really like draw decals. I've used them a number of times and there's so many options for a 737-800

Scale Model Assassin Thank you. I’ll go look for them at Michaels. Your videos are very helpful. I’m working on my weathering skills.
very great job! what kind of paint with white and final coat? enamel or acrylic ?
Thanks! All the paint on this plane is acrylic. Tamiya brand
Is mine gonna be this size cause I ordered the same brand but it’s a 737-400
Nope the 400 is smaller in all dimensions
Awesome video! Have you made a Qantas plane?
Thanks! Haven't made a Qantas plane yet though
I have a 1:100 Caribbean Airlines 737-800, and 2 Southwest 737-800's, plus a United 737-800, 1:130, and a Hooters Air 737-200.
