    Not only do I love seaweed but this looks like it's a pretty healthy snack! Definitely going to try this one out!!

      It's healthy but a bit heavily salted, so I suggest about eating about 1-2 packets a day. (The small ones)

      If not then just don't add more salt. For the oil, just spray it..

    My mom grew up in Hawaii and grew up eating this, she's Japanese so we call it nori, but I ate this all the time growing up too and I loooove it. For me it's the perfect salty snack when I don't want potato chips, I just eat these by themselves.

      I love watching her because I'm half Korean and I remember all this growing up. My Mom passed June 2021 and feels like yesterday. I feel like I'm listening to my Mom. They sound the same 😫😫😩😩😭 I love this lady.

    Yay!! I just watched this video today! I've been making gim-gui the right way! Yay!! I also made some danmuji today as well; and I can't wait for them to finish marinating. So excited! I did some quick roasted gim and had it with my rice, homemade kimchi (Thank you, Maangchi for the recipe!) with fried egg and sesame oil. Yumm-O!! 😋Love Maangchi and her videos! ❤Thank you!     My heart is happy! I adore what I see sold in Asian markets as seasoned roasted laver, and can munch my way through a five-sheet package in a hot second. To find how to create it from the nori sheets is like a gift from heaven! Thank you for sharing!

    Thank you for sharing this, Maangchi I made a few sheets of gim-gui following your recipe except that I used olive oil and sesame oil instead and I absolutely love it. It really does taste much better than store bought. Shared it with my family and they like it too.

    Ooooh, I don't know if I've ever eaten fresh Gim-Gui before! Those look delicious :) It's interesting how the color becomes more green when you roast it. Also, I love how you were using the brush as a blush brush in the beginning, haha so cute ^_^

    I've made this once and made big mess around gas stove so never done it ever since. But this is very good way to layer seaweed and I feel like making them again.

    I just tried this recipe out but ran out of sesame oil. Instead I used 2 tbs of vegetable oil, 1 tsp of soy sauce, 1 tsp of olive oil, and 1/4 tsp of sesame oil. My sister tried it and said it was really good. Thanks Maangchi :)

    I've been only snacking on prepackaged roasted nori and I love it with hot hot hot freshly cooked soft steaming rice with just a bit of tuna and kewpie mayo. I could eat 100 of those!

    Thanks! Uprated. I love nori (gim) and only know how to toast it dry over a flame and use it for maki (rolls) or use scissors to make pretty, fine slices to top sticky rice with. What a wonderful idea for a lunchbox! A travel picnic box for the road or train and so on. I have to do those a few times a year. Such a fun channel. Greetings from France.

    is this the same Kim for making Gimbap? we just roast it directly on fire slightly before serving it, wrapped rice on it and dip in kanjang with green onions, sesame oil and seeds and pepper flakes. I think I should try this.
