That was awesome!! Thanks! I love these little fried seaweed sheets and I had lots of plain dried seaweed sheet packages at home and I was wondering if I could fry them myself... your instructions were perfect! Loved it! Thanks so much!!! Have a wonderful day! 😊
Thank you so much for your nice comments and liking my video tutorial. You guys are awesome! Check out the written recipe, more photos, and my stories about gim-gui! www.maangchi.com/recipe/gim-gui
My mom grew up in Hawaii and grew up eating this, she's Japanese so we call it nori, but I ate this all the time growing up too and I loooove it. For me it's the perfect salty snack when I don't want potato chips, I just eat these by themselves.
Thank you so much Maangchi for the tutorial! My mother bought a lot of nori to wrap sushi rolls but we rarely use them. This was the perfect way to help clean out the pantry. Thank you!!
Oh my gosh childhood. I had Korean neighbors growing up, so I got to enjoy all the homemade Korean food at a young age. This and a lot of your other recipes remind me so much of my childhood I love it
God Maangchi is so lovely, something so calming about watching her cook and make small talk with us as if we are kids wandering into their mothers kitchen learning to cook.
I love watching her because I'm half Korean and I remember all this growing up. My Mom passed June 2021 and feels like yesterday. I feel like I'm listening to my Mom. They sound the same 😫😫😩😩😭 I love this lady. And Umma I love you 💕
Tell my I’ve been curious for years on how to make home made seaweed chips but only now I’ve managed to do my research!!! This just made the new year even sweeter!!! Happy new year everyone:)
This is my first time to watch you Maangchi ❤️ i was looking for fried seaweed recipe then I saw this. You are so lovely, humble, happy, adorable, sweet lady. You are joy to the world. 🗺 ♥ Thank you for sharing this recipe I will definitely try this. Fried seaweed is too expensive.
I remember when my mom used to bring her North Korean friend, she would make the most delicious home-food and her seaweed snack was ever so delightful. I'm definitely going to make these at home and bring some childhood memories back. Thank you a lot for your kind videos. ❤️🇦🇪
Yay!! I just watched this video today! I've been making gim-gui the right way! Yay!! I also made some danmuji today as well; and I can't wait for them to finish marinating. So excited! I did some quick roasted gim and had it with my rice, homemade kimchi (Thank you, Maangchi for the recipe!) with fried egg and sesame oil. Yumm-O!! 😋Love Maangchi and her videos! ❤Thank you! Be well and be safe! 😊💖🙏
Maangchi. I made this the past weekend for a kbbq party and all the guests loved it. Thank you for the great recipe. Btw I added salt to my oil mixture and it turned out great.
Maangchi, I just love watching your videos. You are simply addictive, you on the whole, your personality and most of all the way you prepare your ingredients and cooking. God bless you.
My heart is happy! I adore what I see sold in Asian markets as seasoned roasted laver, and can munch my way through a five-sheet package in a hot second. To find how to create it from the nori sheets is like a gift from heaven! Thank you for sharing!
Been watching you cooking videis for the past few days and I am learning alot already like how to cook, make and save money too. Thank you Maangchi~ you've inspired me to continue cooking not just plain cooking but happily too~
Oh this is SO awesome! I will definitely be making these instead of buying them cause they're a little expensive here. Thank you soo much for the awesome recipe!!! So nice of you to share your lunch. But I have a question, Maangchi, do you think I can put a little bit of chilli sauce in? Or chilli flakes/powder to give it a spicy flavour?
Thank you for sharing this, Maangchi I made a few sheets of gim-gui following your recipe except that I used olive oil and sesame oil instead and I absolutely love it. It really does taste much better than store bought. Shared it with my family and they like it too.
Ooooh, I don't know if I've ever eaten fresh Gim-Gui before! Those look delicious :) It's interesting how the color becomes more green when you roast it. Also, I love how you were using the brush as a blush brush in the beginning, haha so cute ^_^
Today I visit your site for the first time...The way way presant is awesome. ..I'm going to make the dumplings today it looks so yummmmmmy. ...good luck
Oh my.... i've been waiting for this recipe for a long time. Where i live they sell them in asian store but the price is out of this world. Thank you i cant waint to try this
I've made this once and made big mess around gas stove so never done it ever since. But this is very good way to layer seaweed and I feel like making them again.
I just tried this recipe out but ran out of sesame oil. Instead I used 2 tbs of vegetable oil, 1 tsp of soy sauce, 1 tsp of olive oil, and 1/4 tsp of sesame oil. My sister tried it and said it was really good. Thanks Maangchi :)
We like eating seaweed around here, and collect it at the beach in Mendocino. Nori is tasty crisped and seasoned and a great part of a meal, this a sensible technique, Thank you so much, I'm looking forward to learning more Korean dishes.
Thank you for this tutorial! I am always looking for yummy new ways to get my protein! And I just love to watch you cook; you seem to always enjoy it so much.
So easy & healthy snacks. I always get in the Korean supermarket . But now I can make my own to control my ingredients & oil. Thanks again you are so wonderful.
I've been only snacking on prepackaged roasted nori and I love it with hot hot hot freshly cooked soft steaming rice with just a bit of tuna and kewpie mayo. I could eat 100 of those!
Thanks! Uprated. I love nori (gim) and only know how to toast it dry over a flame and use it for maki (rolls) or use scissors to make pretty, fine slices to top sticky rice with. What a wonderful idea for a lunchbox! A travel picnic box for the road or train and so on. I have to do those a few times a year. Such a fun channel. Greetings from France.
I’m so glad I came across your channel my mom’s not here to show me these things so thank you so much for showing me how to make my own foods especially gim we love it!!
is this the same Kim for making Gimbap? we just roast it directly on fire slightly before serving it, wrapped rice on it and dip in kanjang with green onions, sesame oil and seeds and pepper flakes. I think I should try this.
What this world needs is more people like Maangchi. How could anyone not fall in love with her!!!!! Hugs and love to you Maangchi Bruce the swimmer New Rochelle N.Y.

You're so adorable
Your so cute and thank you for all the great recipes
Yab back w
do you know how to make tempura seaweed chips?
Isn't that from family guy? 😂
I made this once and fell in love with this! My new fav food
Not only do I love seaweed but this looks like it's a pretty healthy snack! Definitely going to try this one out!!
It's healthy but a bit heavily salted, so I suggest about eating about 1-2 packets a day. (The small ones)
In Korea, gim is a side dish.
If not then just don't add more salt. For the oil, just spray it..
English caption is up thanks to one of my viewers' contribution!

Oh my gosh Megan
