fixing to switch mine soon and now that I see your video I might as well switch the upper control arm balljoint, it will never be easier to do it since all the work has been done already .
Thanks for all the videos. They are super helpful. I know this is a stupid question, but how did you know your struts needed replacement? Do they leak? Is the ride rough?
@@HomeownerRepair but.. those are in fact a coil over shock absorber not a strut. If a suspension has a upper and lower control arm it is a shock absorber regardless of where the spring is. A strut suspension ( MacPherson Strut) has only a lower control arm.
The 2016 Expedition does not use a bolt across the bottom of the strut, it has a bar with two captive bolts that face downward through the A-arm. This design requires more effort to lower the A-arm to remove the strut assembly from the truck. It is a pain.

We were doing a brake job and I noticed my right rear strut was leaking all over the place. It was puddling under the truck.

I’m sure you’re gonna get a few armchair mechanics tell you that those aren’t shocks, ThErE sTRutS.
Yes, I titled it this way for a reason, so that the average person that doesn't know they are struts can find the video.
