Hey man, great video! Really made installation easier. Very thorough with your descriptions too. Not sure if someone commented yet, but I would recommend 1 change. Instead of disconnecting all of the wires on the front section of the headliner, you can trace the wire bundle to the driver kick panel and disconnect the entire wire assembly. Makes for easier reinstallation. Again, great video man!
Those straps are tether straps, sole purpose is to stop the trim from flying away into a person in the cabin when the air bags curtain deploy. Not to hold the headliner from falling. When removing them from the frame the manufacturer requires new clips to ensure they won't release from the frame allowing the trim panels to launch when the curtain air bags deploy. Nice video.
@@Byronseto yes I did fix it! I removed the headliner only to have discovered it's not coming from it. I found out that the rattle comes from the rearview mirror. (I tap on it and it makes a tinging sound). I followed another TH-cam video to move the mirror. I added some padding within the housing where the camera etc are located and completely fixed the issue. I also removed a plastic hook that holds the cover if it falls, I suspect it makes a buzz too. Tip if the mirror isn't your issue and u want to open up the headliner, you don't need to remove anything off the side. Just remove the vanity mirrors and magnet, then pull the central panel hard and it comes off. And you can see what's inside without needing to completely disassemble other parts
@@jerryg3652 Oh man I appreciate the tips! I brought my 2 week old car in for some rattles/clunk and tesla fixed the most important ones (for free which was nice), but the headliner/front rattle (near the front right), is still here. Trying to find out exactly where it's coming from but yea, it's a little hard. I'll try to see if it's the mirror or headliner :)
Is there a video putting it back on? My headliner near the rear ambient lights has come loose and that metal clip isn’t attached inside and I don’t know how to re attach it
Hey! I was wondering if I was able to drive without my headliner in? I have someone doing the starlight package on my vehicle and wanted to leave the headliner with him so I can still use the vehicle? Thanks I’m advance! Love your videos by the way, very informative!!
Great video but we have successfully tinted several of these by rolling it driver to passenger instead of front to back. It's a two-person job but one guy sits in the back and holds the roll up while the other guy positions it to the driver side and then they roll it out and slip it into the passenger side. It takes some finesse but it is doable without any contamination. Thanks for the video though, this is definitely helpful to a lot of installers.
I think that screw you mentioned needs to be removed (behind the coat hangers ) because I definitely broke some plastic off doing it the way you mentioned. You can see the broken plastic underneath the screw
Thank you for the video. The new Model Y has these green clips on the back headliner. I had a hard time releasing those clips so I just tinted it with the headliner down. Can you message me how to unclog those please 🙏🏻
So if you have to remove the screw under the hook why is it hard or impossible to get back in. I want to do this but I’m nervous. They want 1200.00 to remove the headliner and tint I don’t think that it’s worth 800 in labor. To remove the headliner. Thanks for the great video.
I know this video is for the model Y sunroof.. but my installer failed twice doing the windshield on a model 3.. each attempt he made ended up with dusts behind the film or poor wrinkles..i know it cannot be perfect.. they gona redo it for a third time this week,, but to help up some getting a better installi realized that the installer does not remove any trim for the windshield tint… because i don't want them to install the film too many times because of the electronics behind the speaker bars.. i had to double check myself on youtube how they should do it right,.. so for the next appointment , i will atleast remove the A pilar trim before they redo for a third time (under warranty). Clean the entire area , especially the windshield camera which i think they missed in their prep. I wish i had choosen a better tinting shop.. but its too late. Im stuck with thier warranty and i don't want to repay $200 for a 70% ceramic tint on the windshield.. choosing the right tinting shop is crucial..
Note: when removing the rear middle clip that attaches to the light be careful because the clip will break. It is meant to break off a small piece of plastic where a screw us when the airbag deploys. Not sure if there is a better way to remove it but I'm sure you could get a tool in there to unclip the metal clip inside.
Thanks. I’m trying to find and eliminate a rattle by the tweeter on the driver side A-pillar/headliner joint. Finding this video was a big help.
I have the same rattle!! did you figure it out? I'm about to tear mine apart too and address the rattle (only happens when cold out).

Thanka bro it was definitely harder the first time I did this. Your video clearly explains where the hang ups were. 🍻
thanks for making this video! this is much better than the version from the service manual.
Best tint company. Greetings from Bosnia.
Hey, thanks!
This is quality content. Thank you very much for sharing.
Thanks for watching!

Great video. I have a rattle in my headliner and now I know how to open it up and fix it
Did you end up fixing it? I have the same thing and I'm considering taking apart my headliner to look for where the rattle is coming from

Also, Tesla quoted me $275 to diagnose the issue, so I did it myself instead

You are good at what you do. Appreciate this. They day I have to tint that sunroof I will know how to take that off
Really Helpful! Quick question. Does the rear portion of the headliner have to be removed for the front portion to come off?
awesome eplanation with very detailed steps description, thank you
Thank You. Great detail and instructions
Thanks for being so thorough
Can you PLEASE PLEASE MAKE THE SAME FOR MODEL 3
Are the reading lights and done lights LED or just regular incandescent bulbs ?
Those door seals have push pins under the B pillar glass. Removing them by just pulling them out tears the holes in the rubber seals!
Thanks for the video. I was looking for something like this because I wanted to wrap the headliner on Alcantara
Did you end up doing it?
Do you know if you can take the Headliner for a model S the same way????
Hi mate
Is this roof lining same as model 3
I want to replace the front part
Do you hafts remove the rear headliner to drop the front headliner ?
Is there a video putting it back on? My headliner near the rear ambient lights has come loose and that metal clip isn’t attached inside and I don’t know how to re attach it
Do you have recorded model3 roof headliner removing video?
How long did it take from start to finish?
you should make a video how to put it back

Yes you can 🙌🏼
Thank you. A very well explained process that I'll now use parts of remove trims and fit my rear dashcam camera. Very helpful.
Looks very similar to the plaid S except this one comes into 2 sections vs the plaid is one whole piece.
Can you posting with 2021 VW ID4 rear windshield tint?

I like your way better...
Can you guys do one of these videos for the Model 3 please
This is insane just to tint the window. seems like the rite guy for the job but I won’t be tinting the roof now

Same, now need to figure out how to fix it smh
@@themambaisdabest it’ll still stick but you would have to see if that part only is available?
how you put it back?
Can the seatbelts come away from the C pillar or will they need unbolting? I'm looking to purchase the newer C pillars for the rear shelf.
I cant seem to get the back clips on the headliner on right to reassemble, any suggestions? i believe its three clips.

Bloody useful video, don't want to tint anything, but do want to fit a dash cam and to keep thing neat i wanted to run the wire up the c pillow.
Where u located ?
Thank you.

excellent and very helpful video thanks
make a video on how to put it back on
Thank You!!!
You're welcome!
Sheeesh there is no way I am doing this for my car. lol, I will just live with the tiny bit of contamination...
Thanks for the tip, appreciate it!
Thank you

If you already fucked it up drill a hole near the broken screw hole and screw through the hole in the metal into the plastic. Worked for me.
I can't believe you laid the headliner white on top of those rummer seals.. The headline picks up dirt so easily and is hard to clean
Great job on the video. Hope you charged a pretty penny for all that disassembly.
EASY he says. lol
THIS is why tinting costs what it does.
good~!!!!
😳
Great video, I am going to give it a shot to fix the a-pillar rattle... Tesla's built quality is shit
This is a clickbait title. 99% of people can’t put that back together. This is not easy
Looks pain in the ass 😀😅
haha.. all that work just to tint sun roof ? not very smart no matter how you talk..
