We’re taking you to Mays Landing, New Jersey for a look inside interior designer Solveig Tank’s beautiful lakeside home. Solveig first laid eyes on the 1900’s captain’s cottage 30 years ago…and while the space desperately needed updates, Solveig knew there was no other place she would rather call home. The gut-renovation was a labor of love for Solveig, who rediscovered herself in the process. The interiors now shine brightly with a soft, neutral color palette that highlights the cottage’s charming original details. Enjoy!

I have watched every single HW episode but this one felt different. I don’t remember any particular wow item but the soul of this home came through in the beautiful way it was described by the homeowner. It was an absolute joy to tour this home with her. I wish that we all find this level of gratitude and sense of belonging in the place we call home.

Her story touches my spirit as I too have similar faith in that God gives us the desires of our heart. This was a really special episode. I always multi-task when I watch videos, but at a certain point, I stopped everything and just sat and listened to Solveig tell the story of her life with this house. This episode has soul, just like her house.

If you know you know. And she knew this was her home. This happened to me when we downsized to a smaller home. I just knew it was meant to be before I got out of the car. How amazing the world works. It was a journey. And I love it ❤

I enjoyed seeing the juxtaposition between the natural elements and the modern elements. Either one on their own can become predictable in interior design, but to mix the two made it feel fresh and individual. Well done!

This is a really, beautiful home and they did a great job restoring it! She was without a doubt meant to be the new caretaker of this classic cottage and God planned all for her. I had a similar experience as I lived away from my home in CT for 32 years and dreamed of going back. We looked at 36 homes and I could not find what I wanted. When we stepped into the home we live in at this time, I knew it was meant. I felt the soul of the home and knew it was to be our’s. It still has projects to do but we feel blessed to be here. The appt. to view this home was a last minute decision as we were leaving back to NY the next day and it had just come on the market. I wish them many years of peace and blessings in their home!❤😊
Finally someone talking about how to take care of light colored sofas. = slipcovers. The concept of having furniture with a dual purpose such as a sofa and a twin bed is so practical. Thank you.

Usually I need a lot more color, but I really like her home. She made up for the lack of color with great use of textures. And I know what she means about "connecting" to a place on a spiritual level. I too have walked into a place that said to my soul, "You're home."🥰 And I love her testimony!

I really like the awnings on the outside but it didn't impede the lighting inside. I did see her kinda have trouble peeking out from under it. It would take some.getting used to. If I have to love something is their love for the Bible and creator and Savior. That is evident and the blessings abound in this home because of HIM.

This is not a coincidence… This is a Godincidence that I am watching this video❤️🙏 I am now buying a home in the same area by the River, and I am in the same season of life with all of the same emotions and feelings. When we found our house We walked in and felt a rush of warmth and contentment. It was truly a blessing from God. Solveig reminds me so much of my mom - she passed away in 2020. She looks like her somewhat but it’s the way she talks about God that really gets me… I loved listening to her share her faith and tell her house story.

Love this episode! Her love and passion for this house is so genuine and comes thru in her story. I beleive she is "spot on" with her description of what a home truly is!
She has poured her heart into it, with her husband’s help, and it shows. Loved hearing all the tales. When she was talking about craning in a mattress, I thought, if there is a next time, get a shrink wrapped bed in a box. The box will fit right up the stairs. I have three of them and I will never go back to the legacy mattress types ever again. They are more comfortable at less than half the price. They are dense foam with a memory foam top of varying thickness depending on your preference.

@@rickgonzalez1218 No, I don’t find them to be hot and I live in Hawaii. The best thing is you never have any pressure points, or permanent low spots in your mattress. To me, it seems like it is the sheets that make the difference in sleeping temp. I use natural fiber ones like linen, cotton and bamboo.
This was a delightful experience, this lady has it together, she realizes what is really important in this earthly life. I must say I enjoyed the narrative during this tour as much as the home itself. Thanks for such sharing your journey.
