- Troubleshooting Hacked wire harness ATVs is much easier if one uses a portable ignition system. Someone on eBay has put a kit together that is very easy to build. Just wanted to say thank you. I just put in this exact system into my 1990 Yamaha ymf 250 Moto 4. After 2 ebay A/C cdi's which were for my bike. And with your instructions my bike finally running.

Sorry to interrupt this lesson but I've figured out some of the wires on my 200es and I can't figure out what the black with the white stripe connects to, and I have a lavender wire connected to nothing. All this mess is under the headlight and most look like they're factory connections and the kill switch always worked. Thanks and keep it rolling.

I think the Mpem also controls the charging and Speedometer..I am not worried about anything but it running...

Hey Harvey, I've seen your cdi box build work on bikes that have a starter, my 86 trx250 is kick only...the stator is trashed and the pulse generator won't spark. Will your box work for my bike...

Hello harvey as always superb demo on fixing our electrical demons.i noticed the tire bead breaker on garage floor,im looking for some tools to weld up for myself to make life a bit easier in shop.it looks like an easy build,but could you do a vidieo on hows its used.im curious to see it in action so i know how to weld it up.ive boughten the harbor frieght one and unless you have a concrete sidewalk slab or concrete garge floor to mount it,its basically useless for 50.00 bucks.as all of us know trying to keep the green for steaks or homeheating fuel.appreciate if thats possible or send a link on vid so i can watch a master in action.snows coming!!!snookie pa.💥🙏😝😜🤟💥
what after market cdi box would replace a 32900 - 19B00 on a 1988 suzuki quad runner 250
I have a 2005 John Deere Buck 500cc that I suspect has a bad MPEM.......Real exspensive to replace and just as hard to find..?..Anyway it also has a Cap coil...Any suggestions ?
I have a 110 Panther quad with a loncin 110 i have spark and fuel it will crank but will not start any help you can give me.

Hey Mr Harvey this is Dave quad crazy yes have a Suzuki 500 ltf 500 f quadrunner 4x4 no spark I think I figured out it's the CDI is there anyway I can hook up one of those CDI boxes and universal to this quad all your info will be appreciated thank you Mr Harvey
Did u do this because of wiring issues? Was the pulse generator good in this video, and if so will it work with a bad one? Als, can u use this method for motorcycles?

Hey Harvey, I lost spark to my chinese atv after it sat for just 2 weeks. I've tested the coil, new coil (same results for resistance), 27vAC when starting to the CDI... I am not sure how to confirm my pulse generator is all good. I can pick up some signal from it when watching vDC (typically low voltages). What should I be seeing from the pulse generator to CDi and from CDI to positive of the coil when the starter is turning?
It was running well before and only sat for 2 weeks, nothing changed and now it lost spark. Think I'm chasing the wrong ghost? I've tried new coils and new CDI as well (though after watching your video, the other CDI may be DC instead of AC).

What about the charge system on a Honda the three wires that are yellow will that affect that because it goes to the city I box from the stator if it's AC powered will it work
That will also work on can am ds250
It will but will barely run and run like pure shit as the ds250 has a taiwan sym 250 and is already dc cdi and has two wire trigger. The grizzly 300 is the same taiwan motor as the ds250 except it has a bigger cylinder and high/low range along with being shaft drive. The sym 250/300s use a unique cdi that looks like a normal dc cdi but its not. Search for a carter gtr 250/300 cdi if you want a cdi that dont cost 300 bucks but beware some sellers label regular dc cdis as working on the gtrs.

I’ve seen a million videos on how to hook up a CDI and harnesses but I haven’t found one that shows how to actually test the CDI itself. I know there is ac and dc CDI s and also 4,5,6 pin options. I have a 4 pin dc CDI and I’m showing good readings on every wire to the back to the CDI and new spark plug but still no spark. So the only things left are the CDI itself or the ignition coil. I’m only showing .5v ac coming out of the CDI to the coil on the black/yellow wire. And I can’t find any specs or info about testing the output side of the CDI. Do you already have a video I haven’t seen with this info or could you make a video talking about actually testing a good and bad CDI? Thanks!
Harvey do you think a chinese engine, for example a honda cg125cc clone or a gy6 would work with a GM HEI Ignition module? I mean it wouldn't be the smoothest running engine, but could it could get you out of a tough spot.

Sadly this hasn't once worked for me Harvey. I have followed the setup instructions squarely and no luck. I have bought three DC cdi boxes and I only got the first one to get spark before it died a week later. I am concerned about getting another cdi. What are the chances that two new cdi boxes could be defective right out of the box?

If I still have no spark with this in place of my AC cdi system... I'm assuming either its hooked up wrong, the portable cdi system is damaged, or.....my pulse generator not working. How do I test pulse generator for proper pulse voltage? (Yes, the resistance of pulse generator is within range).
Hey Kevin, I'm not sure what kind of machine that U have this hooked to.... No spark, assuming that Ur kit functions, leads me toward Ur pulse generator. about testing it, if puts out around 0.5 AC volts, (0.25 - 0.5), when hooked to the cdi with the engine running.... maybe less with a recoil... I use a dvm on the lowest ac scale.... Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!!
Thanks Harvey...it's an 88 kawasaki bayou 185. Has a good strong electric starter. Tried three different cdi boxes. I guess now I need to open up magneto/ pulse generator panels to clean and check the gap.
@@HarveySpooner how large of cc engine will these actually work on. I bought a artic cat 454 and the cheapest I can find on cdi boxes is 4-500. Would this work for this large of a engine or is the advance curve to narrow

Hello Harvey, great vids, I changed my AC system for a casolli DC system, it worked but would I get a better spark if I swopped out the coil and plug lead to one from a DC system or is the coil the same for both systems? Thanks again for your great video's.

What's going on sir I really like your video I have a Chinese Baja 150 go-kart bought it not running it has no spark I change the stator coil CDI is AD and I bought a brand new coil and it still does not have any spark I want to try to order the kit but I remember the video you said that it wasn't DC need help could you let me know what to do thank you🤔
I bought one one once had a simmilar sounding issue. In the end i located a bundle of grounds factory crimpped togather and crimp had loosened. Once i re-crimped them problem solved. It was right beside motor. Good luck
My nephew had one and it lost spark. My sister had washed it and stored it in my parents dirt floor basement. I tried all the usual and nothing . it turned out to be corrosion in the key switch from wet
I bought the Baja it did not have any ignition there I never put an ignition back in it but it has no power at the front for the key switch

Hi, There are 2 pulse generators, one is for reverse and one is for forward.... The reverse one retards the spark and limits the revs for safety.... So, I would try one and then the other to get the right one....I hope this helps.... Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!!
If you kept 12 v to the cdi will it kill the battery or does it only use voltage when running
Can't leave power on all the time or it will drain battery and cook cdi.
do u leave ot connected to battery after u get it running. and also if so how long, or will it still run if battery gets low
