Just bought the NX so nice to see how it performs in a bit of wind. The beauty of bad weather is it makes sure your admin is upto date or you’ll suffer.
I own a few tents but I do love the simplicity and ease of use of the NX , and yes not really a mountain tent but can handle a bit of rough weather . If you keep it organised then life will fine atb Dave
It will serve you well , don’t know about you but I always pack the tent separate to the poles . I find the tent folds down to nothing in a dry sack and the poles in a side pocket . Not long till march so enjoy the PW trip ⛺️👍
Always valuable to have the realities of camping in grim conditions up on TH-cam too Dave - and to get reassurance from your calm and unflappable (unlike the tent!) manner safely digging in until dawn. There is one think I pack and hope I never need, is my Snugpac SF bivvy bag, for the odd occasion when your main shelter may fail in severe storms, it may save your life. I did use it one a few winters ago where the wind was so strong it would suck the warmth out of the Vango Blade tent, I had to use the bivvy bag to keep the warmth in the down bag. This was in Australia in the snowy mountains at around 1600 meters.
I normally pack my tyvek bivi but on this occasion I didn’t , it would have come in handy as it was a bit damp in the morning due to the conditions. Thanks for watching atb Dave

Brilliant night mate it’s good to test the kit we rely on so much. I had a nightmare last week on Glaramara strong wind snapped my main tie out and had to bug out to a campsite at 6pm no fun. Lucky I always leave a spare tent in the car. Pitched in the dark.

I quite enjoy the wild weather Dave TBH but not all the time. Looked like the hubba did ok, obviously caving in at sides but no damage. I get my Elixir 1 tomorrow and get it tested ASAP.
Same here Eddie it’s ok now and again but prefer more pleasant conditions . I think the Elixir 1 is very similar to my Hubba so look forward to seeing it in action ⛺️👍

It sure was wild Chris , the not so glamorous side of wildcamping . And yes shifts dictate when I can get out so just take what you are given . That little tripod is a very old Slik alloy tripod which I put a quick release ball head on , does the job nicely and is very light. TFW atb Dave
The rocks offer much wind protection there? Your tent reminds me of a light weight marmot tent I had many years ago. Design looks almost the same. Camped near top of Skafell pike in it in bad weather.

Thanks for commenting , MSR although is a great tent does flap a lot in wind . So if I knew it was going to be that windy I would have used my Hilleberg akto . But I have since sold this tent as I felt it was too low for me . So I purchased a Helm Compact 1 at 1/4 of the price of the hilly and use this for expected poor weather camps . Well done for filming in that. I’ve had to bail out twice because of the weather but my descent routes were easier than yours so staying as long as you did was the right choice, IMO.

I've just noticed you're wearing the same orange waterproof jacket from Mountain Warehouse that I bought today, How does it hold up? Is it the insulated one or the thin one?
It neither it’s a Montane fleet gortex waterproof lol those straps do hide the name a bit 👍

Hammered there Dave, despite the lack of external time-lapse etc it makes a great video in bad weather. The hubba held well even if it was caving a bit, be interested to know if any poles are bent now? Atb A

That wind was relentless didn't half rattle the tent , I do worry a tad myself when it gets like that, hoping the tent lasts the night 😂, bet that was a scare thinking you'd left your fuel, done that a few times , that was a wild night, take care mate , atb 👍

It didn’t actually , although it was saturated from rain blowing up from under the door by the wind 😂
Well done for filming in that. I’ve had to bail out twice because of the weather but my descent routes were easier than yours so staying as long as you did was the right choice, IMO.
