I found the MSR elixir 1 to be one of the best 1 man tents i owned, absolutely huge inside.
Had the Hubba nx1 for a few years. Great little tent. Spacious especially for a 6”2’ chap. Lightweight and a very workable vestibule.
Great video Abbie. Im a proud owner of a MSR Hubba Hubba NX 2. I like my room lol. Had it for about 8 years now. 3 season. Love it. weighs 3.1lbs. To me weight is a none concern with good tents even over a 30 day hike. Thats my home. I will lose weight somewhere else. 😎 Im not a Gram weenie. I carry stainless steel pots, & a beautiful 10" wrought Iron pan. This kit will last longer then me lol. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL ABBIE. Stay Wild 🥰😎👌✌🙏
Good review Abbie. I took the two man on my cycling LeJog and it was awesome. I have since bought this solo one man and it’s even awesomer! I love the feeling of spaciousness inside and the fact that most nights it’s just a six peg effort to pitch. I have other tents but this little solo NX is probably the favourite.

I have the Hubba Hubba NX. Tried the Hubba NX but at 6'5 it was too small for me to sit up in without my head touching the top and having to slouch. That said I love the light weightedness (TM) of the Hubba range and find it has got pretty good airflow through it so minimises condensation, I seem to be able to simulate a rain forest humidity in a tent whilst sleeping! I would say it's downside is definitely stability when the wind picks up and as you say pitching it in rain means you learn to pitch it quickly but I can't say it has ever been wet inside and I always carry paracord to improvise some additional guylines if I need too. I also have the ground hog stakes you showed. They work really well when the ground is more....iffy. Taking it on the west highland way soon so I will be one of those people you see with it everywhere :)

Nice review.
For wildcamping I've switched to a 4 season Hennessy Hammock and I've never going back. Just seems to eliminate so many issues and gives me a such a good nights sleep with no back ache. Only thing you need are two trees but I've found that a lot easier to find that a non-boggy flat area without too many rocks in the UK at least. I just got tired of walking past so many suitable hammock pitches.
Key things I've found:
+Fly pitches first means the fly is only thing that gets wet. Everything else doesn't even touch the ground so no mud.
+Great ventilation
+Quick and easy to pitch even in windy conditions with just 2 tie off's round a tree and 2-4 pegs for the fly (or preferably just use a nearby branch / log) and two additional tree tie off's for the hammock itself.
+No poles to break
+Already somewhat concealed by being in trees
+Hex fly is large and gives amazing area for cooking etc
+Better sleep and no aches
+Easier to find a pitch
+Ground doesn't need to be flat
+Built in seat
+Lightweight for a 4 season system
+Doesn't even leave flattened grass - truly leave no trace as the tree straps don't even remove lichen from the tree!
-Not good in areas with few mature trees
-Will get asked by everyone whether it's better and if you struggle to find a pitch
-Definitely need additional insulation eg a mat in the insulation layer below the sleeping layer (easy in a dual layered system that the four season is) and a good down sleeping bag
Would highly recommend at least giving one a try if you haven't already!
Great video Abbie, I’ve got the Msr hubba hubba and used it to do Hadrians wall last year. Annoyingly when I bought it Msr used to do a ground sheet which fitted onto the poles which would allow you to pitch it outer first if needed. I wrote to Msr and explain what I wanted to do and would they sell me some and they were more than happy to send some out free of charge! Great customer service and arrived within 3 days. I’ve since sewed these onto my ground sheet and can now outer pitch first with the ground sheet if needed.

Good honest review. I think you oversimplify how easy this tent (and in my experience the MSR Elixir 2v.2) is to pitch in wind and rain. The inner first pitch has left me with a wet inner and I fully agree the outer is a pain to orientate, especially if you are struggling with wind and rain. My own view is this (or in my case the Elixir) is a fairweather - American summer - tent. Great space inside, but that's about it. So for me an inner/outer one pitch freestanding tent is the UK ideal. I know I'll get brickbats for this but the Naturehike Cloud Peak 2, for those on a budget has worked for me over and over again. Sold the MSR.
Buy a footprint, you can then pitch it outer first 👍🏻

I had a Hubba for years and it never let me down - I eventually sold it as i have far too many tents (!) but always regretted it...

Great vid 👍🏻. You should get yourself a shot of the Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL 1 or 2. They are free standing tents pitching the inner first but if you have the footprint then you can pitch the outer first if it’s raining etc. The outer has colour coded clips and the door can be opened into an awning with trekking poles. There are 3D bins on the inside for storing gear up off the ground. Weight is 1kg for the 1 person tent and 1.4kg for the 2 person. There are loads of great features on the inside. All the best 🙏🏻
Great review, I have the NX2 as I'd rather carry the extra weight for the space and comfort .. since I'm 6'4". I've tied ribbons on the upper and lower to orientate the two, as it isn't super simple.
Pitching in the rain is a faff, lying the fly over the inner etc and I usually get things wet anyway. Windy is tricky as I find it quite hard to cinch this tent down to the ground too. Prefer other tents for cold, wet and windy, but when you can pitch mesh only, or even with the door wide open, it's fantastic.
This is a very nice with a lot of comfort and very leight. I have NX 2 with a little bit more space.
Hi Abbie! Here´s some algorythmen interaction :o) Using a MSR Hubba Hubba NX2 version. It`s a palace for a 6"5' guy. Using it for 10 years. My NX2 has pockets at each end. Normaly I put my stuff in the porch. Love it! CU
Hi Abbie, just literally bought one myself this week but the "hubba hubba" the name comes from the quantity of pole "hubs" on the top pole. Be sure to install the side support rib the correct way up as there have been complaints of failures when the top rib is installed below the main rib. It should be sitting on top of the main rib for best structural rigidity.
I don’t have the MSR, but I do have the Fjern Gokotta 1 which in essence is the same tent! But a lot cheaper, works brilliantly as a 3 season tent and I’ll be using it next month for the Affric Kintail way. 😊
I've got an elixir 3, if you use a footprint you can pitch msr tents outer first 😉 (video on this and a walking pole modification on my channel) the footprint comes included with the elixir range but needs purchasing separately with the Hubba range. Also, the "gutter" is above the door zip to prevent rain dripping into the porch/inner 🙂
I love my Hubba Hubba NX. I call it my hotel. It's not great in strong winds. That said, I have owned 6 tents over the years, but it's the one I've never considered changing.
I have the two person hubba hubba, and my trick with space is to put my rucksack on its back in the porch on its raincover so it stays dry all around. This trick does more or less require that you can access your rucksack from the front, not just from tue top, though.
Hi Abbie love your videos, would love to do a walk with you one day, you should do group walks for people who suffer mentally as there is no better therapy than the great outdoors!
I've used the same MSR Hubba 1 person tent for the last 13 years, still nothing has broken. Mine has less/insufficient ventilation in the inner, looks like they've fixed this problem!
You can pitch the fly first if you’re willing to use the footprint. Adds some weight of course but it is possible.
I haven’t used mine in really windy conditions so I’ll be interested in seeing how it works out for you.

I have dipped into your YT channel occasionally, and remember your early concerns about solo wild camping and the effects on mental health. Good advice, as I have clinically diagnosed PTSD. I was looking at your bio and noted, "In 2016 they founded Spend More Time In The WILD, and now host one of the longest-running adventure and hiking TH-cam Channels in the world." Who else founded Spend More Time in the WILD' Do they have a seperate channel? I can find nothing. Does it deal with the mental health challenges of backpacking? Very few serious YTers go there so hoping you and your team can direct to those who can help.

Is a very nice trekking Tent.. Super light, lot's of internal space, huge porch. Just a pleasure to use as a makeshift home while on the trail.
I personally wouldn't pitch it on a Mountain unless it was in a spot that is going to be protected from the wind. And would carry at least 4 extra strong pegs for extra stability.
In addition to Abbie's review here, there is one nicely placed pocket that works really well as a place to store loose bit's from off the tent floor.
Top tip. To avoid spending ages in finding the fly orientation. Tie a bit of fluo string to 1 corner of the inner and fly. My MSR Elixir 1 used to be a pain. I'd nearly always get on the wrong way round. Not now.
No way, I’ve literally camped not far from that spot! And i was in the MSR Elixer 2 so very similar tent.
Hubba is for the pole holder that is the hub it is on both side under the rain fly.
Two aluminum the top pole doubles into the two ground poles.
If that makes sense.
The two silver 3 pole connector’s….
I have the Bikepacking one and it flaps quite a bit in the wind.

I have the two person hubba hubba, but I find the hubba 1 person a bit too heavy, only 500 grams less and bought a 1 kilo Nordisk telemark 2 to use as a 1p tent.
I have this tent, and in all honesty I'm close to swapping it out for the nx2. I'm not that hung up on grams in the bag and it's only an extra 500g. Like you Abbie, I like to put most stuff in my tent so having that extra space eases my mind. Great review, enjoyed it 😊

Iv got the hubba hubba and love the tent and live in Scotland so it is a wee bit wet here. You can set it up outer first using the outer but a bit of a pain. But I carry a ground sheet with connectors on the corners. Msr do sell the ground sheet with the same connectors as the tent but is expensive. I found one on amozon (hikeman) that can be used and a lot cheaper. Making it lot easier to set the outer first. Hope this might help some one.

A winters day? It’s 22nd April. My experience of one of these tent was not favourable. It was too short for my 6’5” frame and a couple of seasons ago the tent collapsed in moderate winds when one of the poles failed.
Clearly the video wasn't made today. It takes alot of time to turn clips into a production video with editing
6’5 did you not try it for size or check the measurements out before purchasing.
Hi Abbie! I got one of these earlier this year and have been enjoying it a lot. Couple of things: there's a small pocket inside, it's by your head towards the end of the video, and the corner rope things are colour coded inner to outer, grey and red to avoid getting the door on the wrong side
