- Another day another dumpster!! Today was another gorgeous weather morning so we just had to go treasure hunting. It started out a little slow, maybe we picked the wrong neighborhood? Either way we kept on truckin' and things turned out pretty darn great! Treasures and scrap metal, everything a growing dumpster diver needs.
Wire stripper I use: amzn.to/3sirg18
The motorized stripper: amzn.to/3y0JMuQ
The wire cutters I like: amzn.to/2T6j3OW
The grips I recommend: amzn.to/2QCJmYl

Hey Thub have to tell you my scrapping adventure today up here in Edmonton.
Went to scrapyard today with a small load. Then started filling truck back up. And I came to this one dumpster and there sitting in the dumpster was a young Down Syndrome Boy. I got him out of the bin and tried to find out if he knew his number or knew where he lived. He did not speak well and I finally understood his name but he could only Sign information and I do not know sign language. I called police and they had been looking for him for awhile. When the police were ready to take him home I asked him for a hug. He said yes and I whispered to him. “Please Promise me You won’t Run Away again. He hug me tighter and nodded. Sweetest kid with no fear. Felt really good to be back out scrapping. The officer Thanked and said Thank God you were Dumpster Diving. I think I just developed a rapport with the police. Today was Awesome. A Kid Home Safe with His Family. And then I watched The Oilers kicked Butt in Ice District. Love Ya Brother
Thank you for helping that child out. As a father to an awesome Autistic/ Non verbal son it means a lot.
Was just going to go mow the yard. Guess that can wait 30 minutes 😂
Exactly what I was about to do
I have that same problem often😅
It got done if anyone was wondering 😂
ahh the dead grow op, scrappers delight!
Someone spent quite a bit of money on that stuff, at one time. Carbon Filters to regulate smell. Great Vid as usual Thub :)
Those AC Infinity pieces are worth $$$. They cost a bit brand new
@@ggNabyarbest grow kit
@ 24:30 those are charcoal filters. They go with that inline fan and black ducting. that's equipment for a grow operation.
I've enjoyed your content for a couple years now. I typically watch on my smart TV. Fun Fact, I can't subscribe (or at least don't know how to) when watching that way, so I logged in on my phone just to subscribe. I don't do that. Ever. That's how much you, and your sickeningly optimistic attitude, has inspired me. Kudos to you sir, and please keep doing your thing.
Hmmm... What TV are you using there. LG have a "wand" remote and can wave it over to the bottom right side where you can hit the thumbs and select his channel. But as you said, all can be achieved on the phone and watch it on TV using that
@@governmentninja it's a Samsung. I can log into my account, but every time I turn the TV off, it forgets. That's why I hate, but don't fear, AI.
You my friend stumbled upon a weed growers trash pile lol
That coil condenser and pressure valve thing makes me think it might have been a bit more than just weed
Watching during work because apparently someone didn’t want to show for their root canal appointment 😔
But hey! Scrap vids!
That opening image made me expect to hear, "Coppurrrrrr - - where arrrrrrre you?"
Your stuff is just so good, I wish we could be blessed with 2 videos a week lol
Maybe if you did a "side quest" video a week, which can be anything from random clips helping friends/other background snippets or the more "experimental" stuff like excursions or melts of random and interesting object. Hecc even the mostly unedited "scrap-a-longs" sorting through the many bits you find.
Just My few cents, I always enjoy what you post so keep doing the thing your own way \o/
Great job even picking up the trash you didn't create. Great score!
Those air filters/vivosun bits you were confused about…someone is definitely growing ze marihuana there or somewhere nearby 😂.
The Milwaukee, A 5 cut rating gloves are excellent.I've had a pair for about 3 weeks now. There's no holes yet
Good finds and friendly workers. See so many bed frames tossed, glad to see a resale.😊
Fantastic job.
Looking forward to the dismantling 👍
That pile of mystery stuff, might have been somebody's grow room remodel.
Hahaha, yes! Thanks for the shout out, buddy! Now let's hope they work. Happy Father's Day!
17:20 into your vid, about the tv. a fair bit of people buy tv circuit boards on ebay instead of replacing the tv
That stuff you found at 25 minutes in was for growing cannabis. Exhaust fans, and charcoal filters. Heat mat 😂. You drive my ocd crazy skipping over stuff. The filters on those over the range microwave are clean aluminum by the way.
That chair when you were looking at the wood and bike was made of cast aluminum for the base that the castered wheels attach to. Most office chairs are either plastic or cast for that 5 spoke bases.
I found a rolloff with the scrap wire of new house build and filled a large tote with the copper wire scrap. A year later there was 4 outside and office build that was getting renovated for post pandemic revival. All the wires had to be redone. I took 2 car loads before they fenced off the back parking lot and moved all the dumpster back there. I'm still working on then office haul when i need a quick $100-$200.
Been watching you and scavenger Mike for a couple years. Did my first scrap out yesterday of all the copper and aluminum I've saved from the garbage doing Demolition... just shy of $500 all said and done 👍
Fabulous.
Dust collection system is what all that stuff was for..for a wood shop and or small garage
Good guess but that's all stuff for a grow room. Everything in that pile has to do with growing weed
I was named after that book!😂 Shane
What’s Up Buddy 👍🏼✅. You’re the Man Thub ✅🛠️. Nothing but Good Information and Lots of Hustle/ Scrapping/ & Recycling 🤑♻️👍🏼 One of My Favorite Scrap Channels on YT for Sure. From Baltimore MD. Keep Doing Awesome Brother-End Junk Rant
Glad to see another great adventure
It was a good day with many good fines
By the way if outside glass is broken on microwave, it may still be a good microwave because it's the steel layer with the holes that stop the microwaves from getting out.
Anytime I see books in the trash, I normally will grab them. Not sure if you have them in Canada, but here in the states we have these Little Free Libraries outside peoples' homes. Take a book, leave a book concept!
Thanks Thub. ❤️💙
Another fine video Thub. I hope you got all your tickets lined out from the last video, I myself got a nice little speeding ticket last week that I've gotta get paid. Keep up the nice work
They had a growing operation.
Im thinking that some science was being done with the things in the green bagster bin. Lots of neat stuff there. I'd probably be tempted to drag half of it home. They were definitely doing something where a condenser coil was involved.
at 26:50 you are at someone's old grow show :)
I was just thinking that 😂 ac infinity fans, big filters, yeahhh that was a grow lol
19:25 Why not taking this coaxial cable? It is full of copper usually? Tks.
The king
Just start throwing everything out of the dumpster 😁 Then sort through it😅 But clean your mess up.
I have a bunch of 4/0 Aluminum Service Entry Cable. That is 3 insulated conductors and a bare AL conductor under a core wrap and PVC jacket. I thought the jacket/wrap removal would be an upgrade. I had a 6.5 foot piece that weighed about 6.8 lbs. The scrap yard currently gives $0.25 USD/lb for the cable, as is. They give the same price for the insulated conductors and $0.46 USD/lb for the bare AL. I stripped the piece and forget about the time for now. The untouched cable is worth $1.70 USD. When I stripped it, the components were only worth $1.58 because there is about 1 lb of trash that you are throwing away that is worth $0.25 and the trash disposal cost (for me) is $0.03. The premium I get for the 0.75 lb of bare AL amounts to $0.16. Net Loss for me on materials alone, not even counting the few minutes it took to strip. Maybe some scrap yards would value the insulated conductors at a higher price per lb. I would need about a 10% premium per lb over the cable price on the insulated conductors just to break even on the materials.
Don't forget the motors for the turntables and the other motor inside the microwaves
Did you dumpster dive a weed grow?
He sure did a pro gro filmed on a gopro
You need the Milwaukee cut gloves. Those demo gloves definitely don’t last.
25:00 look like space buckets.
You da man!
Perhaps a cargo net might be less time consuming after every stop and satisfy the law at the same time. Just a thought.
All that grow stuff thub lol
The trick is to make the treasure find you...craigslist, flyers downtown, cards, word of mouth.
Cannabis grow tent.
hey man love the videos! can you still scrap cats in the great north? lol
Sure can! They do ask for ID and some places won’t pay cash but e-transfer
M8 here in the USA we call Lumex , Romex or 65% (that's the return in copper.) do you strip it , or sell it as is ?
With your microwaves , do you remove the magnets and stack them or sell them ?
I usually save them or sell them for about $5 USA dls , and I've seen them as high as $10 dls for the pair.
Well keep up the good work. God bless y'all.
Sounds like you’re doing alright with the magnets! I haven’t saved them for a little while, I’ll generally just have a peek to see if the transformer is half copper but otherwise the whole thing goes in the shred.
Romex is an interesting one, I did an experiment to see how much I could make stripping it down and I don’t remember the exact number but I was disappointed. That was just using a knife to remove the really easy outer layer and bringing in the #1 insulated the way they were. At this point I pretty much don’t bother stripping anything smaller than 10ga, but the larger romex (yellow jacket in my area) is still worth peeling the outer off.
I scrap in England and we don't get as much as you guys do
Some of the stuff is for brewing alcohol
If there was a market for used bed frames in my area, I could make literally tens of dollars every week. I find 2-5/week. No one wants them, and most every place offers the cheap steel frames, a new one every time you buy a mattress. So I collet a couple dozen of them, break them in half, and sell as prepared #1. 🤷🏻♂️
*collect
24:19 it's weed growing stuff, dude. In like new condition too, probably worth good money. 🤔
broken glass should go into blue bin :D :D
Nope, microwave glass is made to be HEAT-resistant. This means if it s recycled with glass bottles and jars it can cause damage.
Did you find any water? Sounds like you guys need it!
you mised the beatles book$$$
Maybe Walter White lives there. 😂😂😂
What was that picture frame in the beginning??
Does it even justify the gas to scrap steel
Todays scrap collection is sponsored by Pablo Escobar 😂😂
Someone saying mom has no pokemon cards can reason with you thumbprint I will keep gaining❤
hint, on straps, put them over the top of the load, so they are really visible not on the inside out of sight. Make it "real" obvious that you are strapping it down even if it is ineffectual, appearances not reality..
Our mechanic at work when I bring my broke vehicle in to have him fix it gives me a sorrowful look and says "You can't have nothing nice"...
Could you cut one those blades for your Machete replacement?
I got a good score last night , they throw rolls of chicken wire , ended up leaving w 6 bags full outta 1 bin .. blew me away at da $$$ thrown away just sitting there.. n youd think amount like that they’d re use da wire
Can you not scrap the flat screen? I have lost count of how many I've taken to the yard.
Can’t believe you didn’t grab that wheelbarrow. Probably could have gotten like at least $50 for it on Facebook marketplace.
Why are you out of breath carrying those concrete floor saw blades 5 feet? Lmao
Someone quit growing weed apparently. Everything but tents. 🤣
i think someone was growing some hydroponic weed?
Any ticket this time? 😂
You passed up a Jo Nesbo novel near the beginning! Bad move, unless you've read it before.
The bagster was all marijuana grow op equipment. The tube fans are for exhaust ducting. Slap a cord back on that and sell for $30. They're pricey.
Those heavy big cylinders with small holes all over are carbon filters. Most of the weight is trash unless you open them and empty the contents.
Don't let that trooper get u down he raw dogged, you he was camping that spot to meet his quota last minute. Just make sure you strap down on your way to the recycling center especially if it your going to be on the highway otherwise I wouldn't stress it .
Hey Guy, sorry,I didn't get your name. I'm Howard. I got a question for you. First of all,I do commercial HVAC. I scrap whatever I can BUT I have a question maybe you can help me with. I have been collecting compressor contactors (relays) for years. I have 2 big barrels filled. These parts have ALOT of plastic, but also have a nice coil of copper. I slam them on the ground and they pop out easily.
My question is this.
Besides the copper windings, I heard the contact points have silver.I'm pretty sure circuit breakers do too, especially the old ones. Do you know anything about that ?
I get conflicting stories about this . Also, the metal that these contact points are fix to, is a brassish ,copperish color. I know it's not either one. What type of metal is this ? One more question. I also collect
Condenser fan motors from AC units. In the past,I scraped them as is. Would you take the time to take apart these types of motors to get the copper out ? Is it worth the time ? I know 1 thing that I learned REAL quick. It's NOT worth sawsalling and disc grinding a fully hermetic compressor apart to retrieve the damn copper. Lol it's almost impossible ! Thank you for your time, Howard Haraway, Fairless Hills,Pa.
The bag with all the interesting stuff in it was a cannabis grow filter
Why dont you take the TV'S?
The pile of trash with the wheelbarrow is from a cannabis grow room, OK Thubby 😎
That was a weed grow operation tear down 100%
It's a weed grow
Someone distilling something?
Dont tell us you Dont know canabis growing equipment is mate you have bin round the block
Thub what also would be cool is if you scrapped a minivan for all its metal using a torch or cutting wheel. Lotsa laughs,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
You get $.25 for bottles?!?! In Vancouver I only get $.10.
It’s .10 for most bottles here too but any that are 2L or larger are .25

So did you manage to dodge paying your four tickets, have to say, you got done for no straps and your straps are still going to get you pulled over, get some decent straps, obvious straps so your friends can see from their car and leave them in the truck to always be available 👍🏻 no more tickets that can be avoided unless you like adding that content🙄🤦♂️
I'm pretty sure the guy with all of the filters was doing dust collection for a woodshop.
First
Cannabis Tent Equipment
You got it. Someone’s grow set up.
BTW maybe you should add a reminder 1. It's illegal in the United States in some places to dumpter dive several people died from either falling and hitting their head on he metal wall or being picked up amd stopped into the back of a dump truck amd compressed to death . Also if your going to add home appliances to your home or yard always check for roaches and termites
I believe Mr Thub lives in the great state of Canada !!
@saulsscrappersdelight8875 yeah but I'd imagine a good portion of his viewers don't
LOL an old drug lab gear.
25:41.....lots of chemistry stuff......looks like an old meth lab.....
So, on all huge construction sites, the sparkies keep all the scrap wire for pizza, beer, water. So, on a $200 million dollar project, the scrap wire was about $600. It's not millions, Thub.
Thub your wine cooler has a power supply problem, send me the ps and i will fix it for free,
Thub came across a meth lab.
Some very interesting finds today. 🧐
1:50 - That’s not how you pronounce His name. 🤨
You’re becoming more selective in your scrapping is time, work or money? 🤷🏻♂️
Leave it better than you found it?
Happy USA Flag Day #PrideInAmerica
God bless 🙏🏼🇺🇸🇨🇦🇮🇱
Looks like a wine chiller.
