    Great video. I have an Onan genset with w Kubota V1305 and it's doing the same thing. I'm gonna troubleshooting it over this weekend or the following one.

    Nice job! One thing that might be worth mentioning (maybe you did and I missed it) is that there's a stack of one or more shims between the pump and the block. It looks like a gasket, but the thickness of that stack is how you adjust the timing, so if you disturb those shims, you need to put back the same thickness when reinstalling.

      Yes you're right. I didn't mention that but it's something to watch out for.

    Thanks for your video! I’m trying mine too. Did you have any pins to align the inner barrel with? The one that you put in at 8:17? I don’t get to which direction the hole or the little channel should go?

      Thanks! I'm pretty sure the groove on the barrel slides over a pin in the side so it can only go together one way.

      @@RaincoastDiesel I thought so from the drawing but these pins are not present. Someone has been inside before I guess. Thanks for your reply!
      Just to be sure, I’ve got the Zexel 16006 fuel pump :)

    9:23 exactly thats where i fucked up. Engine is running good now, but there is a lot of smoke coming out of the exhaust. Maybe i put them wrong inside.

    Just saying , I would never put a dirty engine back together . I always clean everything before disassembly .

    Well made video. Keep them coming.
    I don’t know much about diesels but have a 20 year old kubota tractor.
    So my question is how do you check compression on a diesel?

    • @RaincoastDiesel
      @RaincoastDiesel  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! Diesel compression testing is basically the same as for a gas engine but you need a higher pressure tester and you will connect with an adapter in place of the glow plug or injector instead of the spark plug.

    A little 2 stroke oil in the fuel will help eliminate sticktion

      Thanks, never heard of that one. I normally use Diesel Kleen additive.

      ATF works even better

    • @iainmacdonnell7618
      @iainmacdonnell7618 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've read differing opinions on this. The ones I'd tend to believe are that ATF contains additives that are not designed to be burned in fuel, and can leave nasty deposits, and that it's designed to prevent slipping in a transmission, which is sortof the opposite of what you're trying to accomplish. Ashless two stroke oil seems like a better idea.
