      Shit, that's how I get those old, hibernating, diesels back to life after they refuse to start... I dump straight gasoline right down the 'ole exhaust pipe, and give 'er a crank.... Fires 'em RIGHT back to life, and all excited.

    That was awesome. That engine is amazing to last that long pegged. I sure wouldn’t have left that motorcycle that close. Lucky no collateral damage

      got a holden rodeo ute that ran away past redline (~8k) for about 5 minutes before it quit. We just left it for a few months thinking it was toast before i cranked it over and started and ran perfectly and barely smoked. Isuzu motor is indestructible

      @@jetstream454 its a VM sun diesel V.M. Motori Detroit industrial /marine / Sun model 2105E1/ 295 /2-cylinder-air-cooled-italian-diesel-engine w/ detroit badges 2L @ 31bhp/ 2600rpm detroit bought VM some time ago, hence the name but since sold it off . They are very strong engines leak alot , but hey we all seen what it could do, and they cooked a decent valued industrial engine .They only look like deutz because of head and push rod covers.

    You should be carrying a CO2 fire extinguisher on every "will it start" one blast into the air intake will shut down a runaway diesel immediately and not harm the engine. It's what we use and was taught at the fire College

    You should have mounted it to a couple big 6x6 wood posts and then propped it up with some 2x4's just to keep it upright lol. You need to do more videos like this.

      Loved it what a cool little engine to run like that flat out for that amount of time I thought it would seize first as no cooling fan but she sure did blow . Got to do more bigger old diesel engines I had one run away while driving it just stopped just off the road and let it go made me nearly poop my pants lol 😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    That plate that says VM motori? Thats the manufacturer of that engine.
    VM are one of the largest diesel engine manufacturers you've never heard of - mainly because most there engines are built for other manufacturers to rebrand as their own - including a lot of car manufacturers.

    The easiest way to start a diesel with low compression is to blow a heat gun into the air intake. If the injection system is working, it will start as easily as a fully warmed engine. You can keep the heat on the air intake as long as necessary, until the engine does warm up.

      Great little diesel engine, could be use for many different applications, like generators, water pumps, trash pumps, irrigation pumps, chippers, log splitters, repowering small tractors, etc.

    I learned a runaway diesel as rpm climbing to engine disintegration! It was interesting to watch this small diesel overheat to destruction. Maybe try a CAT D8000 or V12-71 with RPM rising to destruction. Won’t even get a chance to overheat, and you probably would want to use remote cameras due to flying metal! This was definitely fun to watch!

    No cooling with oil is definitely the way to go. Hate it when people drain the oil out. Just locks up. With everything it just revs until the fuel runs out. But with just oil... Ends in destruction every time. 😃

      The real problem is: free entry of air along with accumulated oil in the air cooler. Oil from damaged turbo. You accelerate and the engine pulls accumulated oil. perfect combination to feed the engine at full rpm. oil works as fuel

      Incorrect. Turbo is non-existent on this engine. This wonderful engine was intentionally sent to the recycle bin due to a lack of cooling. 33:23

    I was saying to myself stuck valve at the start when it was chuffing compression out of the intake but they looked free when the valve cover came off I’m thinking there was some corrosion,carbon buildup on the valve seats and the pb blaster softened it/cleaned the seats enough to where r it had enough compression to pop off also I think it’s a VM Motori engine they are Italian very reliable we had 6 pot turbo VM in a well drilling rig at my work

    If you want to see a spectacular connecting rod through block destruction, try compressing ordinary tap water at the high RPM speed like you turkeys did with this engine

    I think you should do a build that no one has done yet go get a Heister, your mid grade forklift like the Mitsubishi carpet, Heister’s and figure out how to lift it cut some of the weight off or to steal the motor and use the hydraulics for something stuff some 35s underneath of it Lol.

    Chugging sound indicates pressure found a leaking path, so low compression. Should not chug when cranking.

    A diesel engine will not start on either alone, It must have some diesel fuel in it to lubricate the cylinders inorder to boost compression. Especially on one that has been sitting. Next time shoot some fuel down the intake before using either. 😮
