Hi Michael ! These little tractors are very practical and usable on a small property all year round. But with more snow they quickly reach their limits, especially with a plow. A snow blower is your best option....but you will absolutely need a cab to protect you from becoming frosty the snowman !! Take care

I've plowed with a small lawn tractor (a 1989 Craftsman) for years. The key to traction is having the chains, it makes all the difference. Now that I've purchased my S240, I'll be doing the same. There really is no significant damage to the pavement.

@@TheEmporiumOutdoors If you can find chains that are made out of steel aircraft cable, they would probably work just as well as a chain made from links. I imagine they would wear more quickly, but they would probably be more gentle on the pavement. My pavement here is made of concrete, and it's harder than steel chain links, so the chains are what gets damaged, not the pavement. Even so, it is minor, and a set of chains lasts for many years. I hope you enjoy your tractor as much as I'm planning to enjoy mine!

i agree with Stephane about plowing limits. Since you are "ATV enabled", I highly recommend a plow for the ATV. I use a 60" blade on a 500cc Arctic Cat ATV and it works great. Large snow falls could exceed its limits too. I put a rubber blade edge on my old Case garden tractor and that worked great on not scratching the driveway. Another excellent review. Thanks.

Michael I had a used tractor 🚜 with plow blad. I put chains ⛓️ on ,yes it marked my concrete drive. But I put on 4 5o# bull bar what's on back ,it pushed great 👍 👌

If I pushed snow like our brothers to the north do(we're in northern Missouri) I would look real hard at the cab option. They last as long as the mower and are surprisingly warm. You do a better job and can watch backward (and kidward and parked carward as well as fellow snowplowward. You also get a few extra pounds(or killowgrams) of ballast. Good video. Fun to watch!
I had a full heated cab on my CanAm Defender and if I was doing more snow removal would just use an UTV with heat. A cab on the little JD would also be fun on the snowy days too 😄
With your dodgy elbow you've mentioned in past videos, this seems like an excellent option to save wear and tear on your body.

😊 I've been plowing my driveway for 10 years now and people always say to me "that's a lot of trouble to go through changing it back and forth every season" and I always tell them "it better than having a heart attack shoveling every time it snows", I haven't used a shovel in years and use a powerful toro electric leaf blower to clear the walk, steps, and up close around the garage doors on a 50 foot cord that gets it spotless with no problems.
Work smarter not harder! 😉 Switching it over to plowing takes 5-10 mins per session. Well worth the effort!

Wondered how the smaller lawn tractors did on snow.
As long as you don't let it build up too much they do pretty good. If I had more snow, I would opt for the snow blower and not the plow 👍
Some ATV (Polars sxs) plows have an add-on feature to the side edges of the blade, some ears that point forward. Those can help keep your load of snow moving forward, rather than sifting off to the sides. If your plow has that option, might be one to consider, if you're getting spillage to the sides. Good lookin' little rig, nice addition to the winter arsenal. You could fight Russia with that little dude. LOL
I've seen those with the ears - Not sure if they are available for this plow 🤔 Angling the blade to push to the side keeps all the snow in one line that you can move - kinda 😄 Lots to learn!

Not buying chains was a mistake.
So I've used it for a couple of years now and maybe got stuck twice pushing snow. If I had more ice or a gravel driveway I'd agree with you 👍
I wouldnt worry m uch about the chains. There is usually enough snow that the surface is protected. The blade will do more scraping.(or snow shovel). The extra traction and extra weight mite rate another look at the chains.
Thanks for the tip! After a couple of seasons now, the traction is workable with stock tires, as long as you don't allow the snow to build up 👍

Congratulations on your new toy. I've been using my ATV with a plow for several years now (after deer season that is). The biggest challenge was which way to push the snow and where to put it. The most satisfying thing is seeing the neighbors watch in envy!
Hahaha - I know what you mean! My Can Am Defender heated cab with a blade would have been epic - but alas I sold it 😩 Still learning the best way to push and store the snow 😄

@@TheEmporiumOutdoors the best way to remove snow and to mow is to step up your tractor to a slightly larger John deer lawn tractor capable of a hydraulic plow not that bolted on yellow shovel.

If you don't want to slip as much you really, you should buy chains

Did you have to remove that when you install the snow attachments?
Thats correct - The mowing deck is removed. It takes about 5 minutes with no tools needed, all quick disconnect fittings 👍
@TheEmporiumOutdoors Oh my dear Lord. Well, there goes my hope in buying one. It may be easy for you, but I struggle with an electric handheld Dewalt.... I wont be able to remove or put it back if by some miracle I could renove it... 😔
@@tessamoland797 Tessa - Dont give up so easy 😊 Watch a few videos, its very straight forward and the amount of effort it will save you with snow removal, cutting the law is sooo worth the 5 minutes to switch it over once a year. You could even ask a friend to help the first time! Have a great thanks giving!

Good question! The plow rides on two metal shoes that skim the ground, so if the ground is solid when frozen it should work. Just set the height a little higher than normal. I'd maybe try and find a video with someone pushing snow on gravel, would be my advice.
Hi Michael, thanks for sharing this video! It persuaded me to get the same setup which I have been considering for quite some time! I have a quick question for you if you have a moment. I was wondering if you know the total length of the tractor from the back of the rear wheels to the front of the plow when its attached. I have a garden shed I was planning to park it in, but don't know if it will fit with the plow attached. The shed is 87 inches deep, which will fit the tractor itself, but might be tight with the plow. So there's about an extra 12 inches of space. Do you think it will fit, or should I buy a new storage shed for it? Many thanks!
Hey Tom - I've been happy with this setup for my conditions. For the dimensions, 86" overall length for the plow and the tractor with the blade straight BUT with the weights located on the back its 95". The weights would be easy to remove and re-add as they just hang off the rear cradle. Hope that helps! 👍

Chains is why it's extremely slipping & failure
Hi Mark, As I'm on asphalt I don't want to run chains. There are some alternative that won't chew up the surface and I may try them this year 👍 However, the 2 wheel drive with no diff lock will never compare to 4x4 with locks.
Yeah but you complain at 2:24 about the failing & The 2 wd with different lock is 7500 or 8500 the 4x4 is like over 10 k 🤔
Tire chains is $150 I use on my x350 & my e140 works Great. The alternative belt & stuff have a very bad reviews not very successful
