Thanks for this. So complicated and beyond what I'm willing to do. Convinced me to NOT get a JD Tractor and snow blower. I'll stick to my regular snow blower and mower setup.
If you think this one sucks, you should see the install for the Cub Cadet 3-stage blower. I looked this up to see if the JD was easier. It is, but still not simple or easy.
Dude what are you talking about too complicated? It’s 6 bolts and a couple clips. This is a comprehensive video covered in 4 minutes. The operations of the machine itself are more complicated to figure out than this install

I had to have a JD mechanic come out....this was after I pulled the module and took it to the dealer who sold me the blower. Even they missed it since it was not installed. @@kokokyoushi - Removing or installing the mower deck takes all of 5 minutes. I'm not sure what all the fuss and whining is about, but it is obviously coming from people that don't have one. This snow blower really is a breeze to install and I can do mine in about 30 minutes or so. Uncrating it and assembly when you first get it will add some time to that, but once that's done, you're good to go. This is a reasonably priced unit ($1,400) for what it's capable of. Someone mentioned engineering a drive hook-up. As someone that already owns a Kubota (with the optional mid PTO), I can tell you that that is an EXPENSIVE ad on, not to mention the 6k cost for the snow blower, which also must have a sub-frame installed every year just as this was.

Front hitch assembly is next to impossible to install due to the muffler guard being in the way to put in the bolts, and it seems a little wider than the frame. I've confirmed the model and it supposed to be compatible. BM27737 and D160. The instructions (not the best) don't say anything about a muffler guard. To be honest I've been at this for a few days now and am ready to just throw everything in the back of the truck and return it to Home Depot. Assembly instructions are terrible, online documentation doesn't match what came with the attachment. Can't seem to find anything on John Deere 'publications', trying to get some guidance from John Deere but no help from online or 800 number.

Seems a lot more complicated than 2015 44" snowblower attachment on mine. Is this there newer version?
Massfrog, thanks for your interest. Yes, this would be an updated version compared to your 2015 unit. We released an updated 44” Snow Blower attachment with the New E100 Series Lawn Tractors in 2018.
@@JohnDeere Is it backwards compatible? I have a 2015 D140 will my blower fit a 2021 S240?
Thanks for asking, Ryan. There were Snow Blowers specific to the 2015 and prior model year D105 Lawn Tractors, which would not be compatible with your S240. We recommend confirming your current Snow Blower's part number and compatibility with your local dealer. If needed, you can find your nearest dealer and their contact information at Deere.com/Dealer. dont buy it. get another brand
What is the overall width and length of this lawn tractor with the snow blower attached?
Thanks for the question, Robphoto37. The width of the S100 Series Lawn Tractors with the Snow Blower attached is 46.6-in and the length with the suitcase weights is 105.7-in. For more information we recommend contacting your local dealer. You can find your local dealer here: Deere.com/Dealer.

i can fig it out but sum may not, you did not show installing the belt on the pto drive pulley .

Mine does not have that front pulley u bolt guide and can,t find where to buy one. Called JD and they had no idea just said all the parts should be there and had no part number. belt comes off about every 40 ft. It,s in the video JD

Did you ever get your snow blower working properly. Ours came without the belt drive module, unfortunately that was several years ago and we haven't wanted to blow snow until this winter and no belt module. I'm trying to find one. Thanks for any comments, Bill
@@cptnbillyjohnstone510 Yes i did find a belt guide from john deer about 50.00 bucks as i remember. it,s for the front pulley it,s a big u bolt about 8 inches long and 1/4 in thick that just keeps the belt from coming off. it,s been a long time and i don,t recall how i got the part number, not sure what the belt module is your talking about
The belt module is the metal frame that hangs under the tractor and has 2 pulleys that get your power from the tractor to the snow blower. We never got it when we bought the tractor several years ago and have never tried to blow snow until this winter and no belt drive, so no go. Where are you located? I'm in Winnipeg if you have any ideas on where to find this module. Bill@@jeffh.9620

What did you do with your blower. When you bought this, did it come with all the parts shown in this youtube video? I am missing the belt drive module and was wondering if you got one with your new purchase. Bill

Was wondering if you bought this 44 inch snow blower? Did it come with all the parts shown in the JD video? Mine is missing the belt drive module and you can;t just get that part, but have to buy all the individual pieces that make up this module and assemble them. Cost is $1700 Canadian to buy all the parts. Wondering if you got the belt drive module as shown in video. Bill
@@cptnbillyjohnstone510 I havent bought it yet
Mine came with it, but factory installed the belt incorrectly
Real easy and uncomplicated huh....for all the money you spend engineer something better with a drive up hook up.
Yea I agree, might as well just buy a seperate unit for snowblowing and save yourself a couple hours a year setting this up.
Looks like I'm hunting for a late 90s Deere with hydraulics.
Wow I wish. I got a homemade snowplow for my s240. I get on off mower a lot.
I have an E-130 22hp will the snowblower attachment work on it? If so where can I buy this set up in the video. Much appreciated

so after we bought the snow blower from home depot, not only was it missing a couple of bolts the handle was broken during shipping and home depot and local dealer is blaming each other.
got to the drive belt module install and my unit does not have the holes for the the unit to bolt into , Nice.....as I am reading the instructions in fine print it says if your frame doesn't have the holes you will need a left and right bracket which are sold individually , $140 cad each plus taxes.
I have a D140 and the description is for ALL 100 models, that is incorrect.
buyer beware.
tractor purchased in 2017 and now I have to decide do I drill the holes or send unit back.
don't buy anything for your john deere unless you 100% it will fit.

Ya push the clips in with a screwdriver after you pull the pin and slide it out.

We're sorry about the frustration this has caused. The Snow Blower attachment assembly may be different depending on the model year D160 Lawn Tractor you have. any angry yard sale should have them brand new with only a few hammer dents and urine stains
by the quality if mine id say at the dollar store
How do I release the belt tension when removing the blower attachment? I have an E170 with electric PTO. Thanks.
Fiddled around and figured out that you have to manually pull to large black tension spring on right side of pulley assembly to loosen enough slack on the belt to slide it off the PTO. For both installation and removal this is a pretty big step to omit!
HI is John working today?
yes
nope, only here to steal money not work. mine is 3 days old and dead in the driveway

Tire chains and weights are separate but necessary.

This is my first riding mower so no experience with any mowers or snowblowers ever and I installed mine by myself in less than 30 minutes in a very dimly lit garage with main source of light being a flashlight. Just saying, it may not be the product if it took you and another person several hours to put like 6 bolts in….

I have a 2015 JD X324 all wheel steer. The people at JD that designed the deck with J-Bolts have NEVER tried to put a deck on or take it off. They should have been working in a candy store. Stupid people. The same with the bagger. My last JD. I'll find a K-Mart store and get a better product.
There’s more to the belt drive module that should have been covered buying one of these I can say the directions are terrible and none of the bags I received indicated what hardware went where luckily my neighbor gave me a hand
Oooof that looks like a massive pain
Deere over complicates, attachments i own 3 different models and yet my 73 wheelhorse is so much easier
What a pain!
Disappointed to say the least. This was the first lawn tractor I ever (E-180) snowblower attachment has the worst instruction manual I've ever seen, the handle to raise the blower is awkward and difficult to lift. I'll never buy another one.
this is too much work to put on and take off twice a year.
