That looks awesome! Very grim dark but also highly defined. All three techniques look amazing but I really like the last one. The fact that you make three really gives people alot of options and is a great way to learn. Now I will have to buy some Primaris!
Thank you! and that is what i'm aiming for with these new videos i put out having variety, with keeping it simple and showing how you can build off the simple methods, and really break down processes in quick steps, hopefully soon i can make a second version of these type of tutorials taking these further on a HQ character model.
great video dude. an awesome tutorial for anyone breaking into the hobby and wanting to get models on the table fast with minimum set up and purchases.
Nice practical methods for beginners. Only suggestion is to clean up those mold lines. They get really pronounced, especially when dry brushing this heavily.
love your vids, I painted my space hulk terminators using your blood angel guide, I'm trying to achieve the same look using the space wolf color pallet I'm trying to make a space wolf themed copy of space hulk to give to a friend as a present. what would you recomend?
I greatly enjoyed your video, but I have a question. I’m preparing to paint some emperor’s spears, how can I make a white helmet with these methods? Should I use grey primer for head? Or maybe just hit the black one with some hard white over brushing?
With painting a lighter color or something totally different color i would depending on which method used, for dry brush i would avoid the head after the grey/white dry build up including the helmet and it would match the weathered dry armor look, for airbrushing you could leave the head separate and airbrush it, grey/ white with a wash to match, for the last method which is my main style in which i like to paint i would airbrush the head after basing the body color because white overspray on a color is easier to cover rather than a blue overspray on the white helmet with an airbrush, after basing and i would do the mixed dry brush method over airbrush base even with over spray from the white, i will be able to use the next layer blue to dry brush over, but with the right angle when basing seperate colors on same model you can get away with little to no over spray with control! I know in this video i show 3 quick methods if you only got one tool or all tools but Also depending on your tools used in which order will make it easier i usually like to detail/break up/ touch up, with brush/dry brush after basing main colors with airbrush being more broad and less accuracy to set a base to paint over. Hopefully this helps!
Great tutorial! How do you think decals would work since the contrast between shadow and Blue is so strong? You think a decal would look odd on the model?
hey, i would just add a step after the blue layers, apply the transfers, and weather them in, for the dry brush model i would dry brush black near the base of the decal on the pad and wash it with dark tone, for the airbrush model i would just use black to fade the transfer to match pad or leave it be and wash over to blend it in, and for the last model i would weather it in aswell after blue layers and stipple over decal and wash.
Hey, I don't thin my paints for dry brushing, I just dip the tips of my bristles in the paint and i get a rag or something that i can work the paint on the brush until it is nice and spread out, and action of bating it will get rid of most the paint but leave enough to delicately build color on your previous layer without streaking because the paint that is left is super dry on the bristles, and when i dry brush a lot of times pigment smoke will dust off the brush as i am bating it, that is when you know its good!!
I don't understand this comment. Airbrush is just a tool, just like brush, glue etc. And the look depends on the paints you use. You can go muted or extremely bright. The paints are the same, lol
The piano music you had going in the beginning, that was truely awesome. Could listen to that for hours.
The first one is trying to be grimdark, the second is just a more matte citadel style space marine, and the LAST one is *Grimdark and AWESOME*
Man all three look so good
Really nice video! Well done :)

@@VertiseeModels I will definitely be watching that. A Primaris captain with the gladius and the helmcrest would be cool or maybe an Aggressor.

Thanks man!
Unreal work, absolutely amazing scheme!)
Thank you!
Those mold lines though!

My kind of asmr video!
You are the best. Used your style. And maked video too.
I would have really preferred to see the models in better light. Very hard to tell if they good outside of top lighting in a dark garage?
What game is that song from on the 2nd tutorial? Geez I know it from somewhere
Mould lines!!!!!!
They bugged me so much lol.
Came here to say exactly that!

Would the first one work with grey primer?

How did you thin your paints? Mine came out very streaky and I suspect it might be my drybrush technique. Awesome vids though, love your style!

@@VertiseeModels awesome thanks for the detailed reply!
I hate airbrushing with a passion, think it ruins everything with its muted colours, the drybrushing you did looks awesome though

@@Aatuss IMO it only works for priming / basing, ive never seen a miniature that looks good with airbrushing instead of normal brush painting
@@DJTXD123 I disagree
The only thing that spoils this for me is in the first minute. Mould lines.
wow you didn't even clean the mold line off ..
yep sorry!
