Beautiful work! You had me a little worried before you adjusted the fitting of the guard and handle :p. I wonder why you would make the fuller go into the guard and locking the full handle so it cannot be disassembled (at least it seems that way to me)? Doesn't this makes it easier for all kind of things to go into that cavity and damage the wood? Thank you i enjoyed watching your video.

i like the damascus look, bit it's really an inferior steel. the edge is softer in places and doesnt hold it's sharpness

That is not a gladius. That’s a spatha.
He sometimes labels the swords incorrectly for the titles of his videos, not often but this is one of those times.
It's a fantasy sword, that's what it is.

Based on its length it is clearly spatha. And the blood channel. On the Gladius Hispaniensis sword had no blood channel.
