Can’t wait to see this on the road Always loved the look of these. NSX A real JDM super car Keep up the great work Got to say I love how you all work on different cars. And give new things a. Go
I found the car I bought 3 years ago had also spent a decade in the garage, the mileage, the service checkbook and all the stickers on the car agreed to each other. Runs now since 3 year as (this year's) 30-year old Youngtimer in original design, and when the load is low, it is even allowed to go for it on the german autobahn. Top was 130 mph - anything else than full throttle. Does not produces too much additional wear in 5th gear. And when I have with such an old car a mileage of 26 mpg, I do not stress it too much.
Assuming you are going to opt for a custom-fabricated front frame rail and radiator support, these would be the parts and brackets you will need to attach the panels together and ensure the hood sits properly. Try using washers / spacers under the fenders to line the body line up with the hood and doors. Many cars use them from the factory. Cheap and easy. Plus it’s a great way to stay in shape.
NSX content! Loving this build already, especially since rebuilding wrecked ones is prob the only way most of us even have a prayer at owning one. Can't subscribe, cause I already am!
You know your limitations so now it is off to your hired gun, that is smart. You did very good with the frame pull. It was quite ingenious using 2 forklifts straps and physics. Who says you don't use your geometry from school? A nice episode indeed. I'm looking forward to part 2. And yes the full gas tank saved you lots of grief. There was little space left to allow the gas to break down. I suspect the residue is varnish left over from the gas that did go stale. You were very wise in your approach to starting the engine for the 1st time. When this car is done it will turn heads because it is in very good shape for a car this old. Congrats on your persistence.
What a challenge! I remember reading when the NSX was released would be a difficult job with body repair being aluminum structure. This would require repair done by shop experienced repairing structure with special welding technique. With use of carbon fiber pieces would be less difficult repair but I am person that knows nothing about body repair. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
Happy to see one getting saved! If you need some reference pics of stuff, write me, I’ll go take some pics of stuff on mine if it can help. Gonna follow the restoration:)
My NSX has a old turbo system that uses Aerocharger turbos . They have their own integ. oil system , no oil feed or return lines to engine. Runs at 10 lbs max boost. Make sure there is screens infront of those i/cs , the road debris will erode them.
Can't say I am a fan of these cars, but definitely an interesting build. I restore 60s/70s cars and I'd gladly take fuel like that vs what I have had to deal with. They always said old gas smells like turpentine but I never smell turpentine to say if that's true lol
