    And whenever I say “oh”, “oh my god”, “so” it’s just so British. Because I’m too obsessed with the way how British people say “O”!!

      @@tarlespeech Thanks! I viewed the video you linked to, and respectfully disagree.
      As someone with an 'English Pronunciation' channel on TH-cam, you should be giving "Feb-yoo-airy" only a passing mention:
      "Now, while "Feb-yoo-airy" has become the common pronunciation of the month, particularly in the U.S., where proper English is not spoken, the CORRECT pronunciation, plainly visible in any phone calendar or wall calendar, is "FEB-roo-airy"...
      ... is the script I would read if it were my channel.
      I would also not even mention, at all, the more popular pronunciation, in America at least, of the word 'nuclear' in my script:
      "While there are alternative pronunciations of the word Nuclear, the correct pronunciation remains
      NEW-clear, or, New-clee-ar.
      PERIOD.

      Since you don’t have a th sound your brain is filling in the closest sound. I’d suggest to work on listening to words with the th sound so you can start to hear the difference. Happy to send a playlist if you want.

    It's kind of funny like, It is easier for me to pronounce the word Thought than Taught, like, I dont feel like i'm saying Taught, I feel more like I'm saying Tat or something, as in Tattoo...

    • @tarlespeech
      @tarlespeech  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. It could be because you have to open your mouth to say the TH sound which may help you get your mouth into the correct posture for the OH sound. I describe OH (thought) as an oval mouth shape and AH (that or tat) as a round mouth shape. Try that to see if it works.

  • @PrasannaPatil
    @PrasannaPatil ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Indians pronounce 'taught' without using aspirated 't(th) sound,they clearly pronounce it like 'tot' but interestingly they pronounce 'thought' same way as you pronounce it.

    sounds kinda right as well..

    • @tarlespeech
      @tarlespeech  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then that is fine. You are probably touching the teeth with your tongue, which stops the air, creating the T sound.
