fullmetal alchemist is my entire childhood!! im so glad to hear you enjoyed reading it!!
for clarification, the automail girl Winry and her grandma are not related to Edward and Alphonse. with their dad absent and their mom passed, Winry’s grandma was essentially the helpful neighbor that kept an eye on them, and Winry is the boys’ childhood friend.
regarding the anime, there are 2. the first one (Fullmetal Alchemist) has its own separate plot due to having aired while the manga was incomplete. the second one (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) premiered when the manga was near completion so this one is much closer to the manga’s plot.
🩵🩵🩵 thanks for the clarification!!
If you’re looking for struggle love or looking forward to getting a headache from rolling your eyes, then Ms. Terry is right up there🤣🤣
Disappearing Acts actually is a movie lol .. with Sanaa Latham & Wesley Snipes
Honestly can't blame you for choosing to read fanfiction instead. I also have months where I switch between reading more fanfiction than books.😆
love that you've been enjoying fullmetal alchemist!! fullmetal alchemist brotherhood is the superior adaptation so i would recommend watching it :)
some other manga i would recommend are fruits basket, a silent voice, yona of the dawn, way of the househusband, and my personal favorite -- yotsuba !
Great video! I loved the older FMA anime! I didn't realize they had the entire manga series in omnibus... maybe time to read it. The cover of A Tempest of Tea is so cool that I'd almost pick it up just off that 😅
yes, time to read it!!
welcome to the funemployed club :) hope you enjoy your stay here lol. I've been wanting to read a tempest of tea but haven't gotten to it. I didn't read anything deplorable in march, but I had really high expectations for Between Two Moons and was drastically let down. The more I reflect on that book the angrier its execution makes me.
Yeah there were things I didn't like about that book.
my favorite march reads were tea dragon tapestry (so cute and cozy!) and mall goth.
though i just replied to another comment. I think you’d love the Manga Witch Hat Atelier! it’s a fantasy whimsical manga with some slight dark undertones. The series follows a girl named Coco, who dreams of being a witch, but in her world only those born with magical abilities are able to become witches. However, after meeting a witch named Qifrey, Coco's dream begins to come true.
Their is 11 volumes out right now and it’s one of the first mangas i throughly have been enjoying
Finally got Dungeon Meshi from the library, everyone has been checking it out because of the show lmao
FMA is one of my favorite anime of all time! It’s so good!
I finally read The Fifth Season which I've been putting off for years!
I'm so glad you're enjoying FMA. It's one of those series I wish I could forget and read all over again. Other manga I would rec are Yona of the Dawn and Demon Slayer.
Oh and if we're recommending manga, I'm hooked on Jujutsu Kaisen at the moment and recently read all of Demon Slayer. JJK gets very dark and there's some horror to it but it's also unapologetically *weird* in that way only Japan can pull off and I love it for that. Demon Slayer is a much more uplifting message despite also having a lot of death and a fair amount of horror (since, you know, demons). Demon Slayer is also complete.
Oh! And if you like light novels may I suggest Otherside Picnic? It's a paranormal dark fantasy story with a lesbian romance and absolutely lovely character and world development. (Again a warning for some horror elements, they're basically hunting the monsters that become ghost stories.)
...I'm starting to see why I found ACoTaR to be such a shift and why I felt like I needed it.
Loving that you’re loving FMA! It’s my favorite story!!! Winry is def not their cousin though; their families were close so they were childhood friends 💕
ok, I was wondering if I had that wrong...LOL
The only book I read in March (at least according to my journal) was A Court Of Thorns And Roses, which I honestly loved, it was a shift in headspace to a sort of light bubbly ethereal feeling I really needed more of. I know a lot of people don't like it but it's exactly what I didn't know I desperately wanted to read. I gave it four stars on Goodreads. It lost a star for being so slow and dull in the beginning that I skipped chapters 2-4 and came back to them later.
Hey Jess, I love that you are enjoying FMA, Honestly its such a sweet sweet story. Let me tell you the twists at the end. I think I even cried, (Read this as a teen) . Keep going girl. , I wish I could re read it again for the first time. This month I finished the ACOTAR series and I refuse to let tiktok or instagram ignite my hopes only to be let down like this again.
First of all, I’m finally catching up on youtubes and ok face! Second of all, HOW DID I GET IN THIS?? I’m the most trustworthy! Third, read Death Note 😎
Disappearing acts the movie is crazy too! Her best book so far to me is it’s all downhill from here
You didn't recognize Terry McMillan's name? They finna revoke your Black card, lol!
hahahahah, I sure didn't!
FULL METAL ALCHEMIST AHHHH
So glad youre enjoying it sm. But the question now is *serious face* are you a royai shipper?
finished Fullmetal Alchemist earlier this year and omg what a fun read it was through & through!! if you want manga recs then Golden Kamuy will CHANGE YOUR LIFE!! (hopefully lol!) 🙂↕️🙂↕️
Is this your first time reading FMA? It is soooooooooo good. The original anime had great pacing but lost the story, the second anime (Brotherhood) was a great story but had terrible pacing. It is kind of one of those things. And Winry is not their cousin (she is like a childhood best friend/love interest).
March was a rough reading month for me. I finished Project Hero by Briar Prescott (4 stars), Delicate Things by Yolanda Olson (4 stars) and many, many dnfs.
If you go to watch the anime, Watch 'Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood'. The other one was started before the manga had finished so they just made up a different story to finish out the anime.
winrey is not their cousin!! 🤭🤭🤭 but i love fullmetal alchemist!! manga and both anime adaptations. ❤❤❤
OK THANK GOD I'M GLAD SHE ISN'T THEIR COUSIN BC I WAS CONCERNED 😂
Don’t bother watching the original Full Metal Alchemist anime. Only watch FMA: Brotherhood. The original was created before the manga ended so the animation studio just made shit up (much like what happened with GOT final season lol)
I would have to disagree the original had more depth to it especially if you watched it on cartoon network with the added plot twists to them.
Disappearing Acts originally came out in 1989 or 90 and the movie around 2000. The updated cover original cover is similar to the cover bag in the 90s.. I know this because it was my first ever DNF. I couldn't struggle in that relationship.
omggg, I didn't realize it was that old! The struggle was TOOO MUCH
Just came here to say i dont like the trend of ebooks updating their covers, not that i dont like the art but because book titles are way more similar then they could be and i cant remember that ive already read that book and/or dnf'd that book when it looks different.
I need to read the manga for Fullmetal Alchemist at some point! I really loved the original anime adaptation, but have heard the manga and newer, more faithful anime adaptation are even better!
yes yes read it!
“Robin can’t be trusted”
Facts lol (sometimes)
LOLOLOL
I'm reading the comments and I'm just like it's okay, please go ahead and take my Black card. 🤣
LMAOO

What? When did March end?
The book I read back in March that had me conflicted was The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. Im still not sure how I feel about it. I read Disappearing Acts back in the 90s. In that moment, I loved it, but didn't like Franklin. Maybe I will reread it one day. It is a movie, it stars Sanaa Latham and Wesley Snipes. I didn't like the movie.
I've never seen the movie, but I don't think I will watch it lol. I want to read The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store but it sounds real sad
@@JessOwens it is Sad
I've never read much manga. I've read Spy Family up through 8 or 9 but it's so weird that I just... idk. I also have the fairyloot Tempest of Tea, just got it last month, so I'm looking forward to getting to it.
I hope you enjoy Tempest! What is weird about Spy Family for you? Is it just that it is manga?
@@JessOwens no it's little things like the borderline incestuous relationship between Yor and Yuri, stuff like that. And I have been told that kind of thing is a trope in manga but it still makes me cringe.
you should try the manga Witch Hat Atelier 💫✨The series follows a girl named Coco, who dreams of being a witch, but in her world only those born with magical abilities are able to become witches. However, after meeting a witch named Qifrey, Coco's dream begins to come true. it’s so nice and doesn’t follow some of the questionable anime tropes
@@jennderqueeryeah, I like Spy Family (read up to Vol 4) but that also felt super weird. Also the elegant school guy is annoying 😂
@@SweetHime ill check it out! Thanks!
I’m kinda offended by the comments made about Disappointing Acts! This is a great book and a romance that has is a true depiction that characters Sometimes black love is a struggle. But love is love…. Right? Terry McMillan is an AMAZING acclaimed author annnndddd her work should be honored. disappearing acts has been the lineup and secure your ticket made into a movie starring Sanaa Lathan & Wesley Snipes! Let’s be a little more culturally sensitive to all experiences. All live should be honored and respected. Even black love!
Disappearing acts is Contemporary literary fiction, Urban fiction, and African American literature. Our black creators are breaking my heart when I see them dogging on our books in these white spaces. I get that you may have found it in the wrong genre department, but most of our books deal with real issues and the book community chooses to ignore them because they are too “toxic” or “ heavy” but quick to pick up some white authors dealing with delusional issues while kicking their feet and giggling. That last bit wasn’t a person dig at you, it’s just been a lot of black creators lately digging our books apart and screaming for inclusion at the same time. There aren’t a lot of black creators so when our books are being picked to pieces it’s louder than the other reviews of non-POC books. We all have the right to like and dislike whatever we choose, this is just my hot take. You bout to eat me alive I KNOW… 😭
