Keep your eye on Trish. She's sneaky. After driving the new Ford Bronco through the back trails of Joshua Tree National Park, Marc threw out the idea of getting one. It took Trish 3 seconds to start negotiating for another dog! All this fun conversation started when we met up with Brad & Regina from Trail Recon on our way home from completing Route 66. Joshua Tree National Park is a stunning park if you haven't been. Great for camping, hiking, riding and even driving through. During this visit, we learned that Jumbo Rocks is now reservations-only. As a result, we were able to snag a site at Indian Cove which was equally stunning. Many people ask about the size of the RV when camping at National Parks. There is no question that an RV 30 feet or less make getting a reservation easier, but if you have a big rig, don't give up. There are plenty of state and national parks that can accommodate big rigs and many government booking websites error on the side of being conservative in the actual size of an RV that can fit. Do some research and you'll likely find that you'll fit in many sites without issue.

I think this was the first time I saw Tricia start to freak out on camera. I can't even imagine how scary it must be to have an unknown person just try to enter your home. I'd have a taser near the door for sure!

On the west coast, unfortunately, this is a normal occurrence.
OK lets address the elephant in the room. The lady trying to open the door to the bird. Marc said, "I'm so tired of this." Then you quickly take off like you are in danger or something else. Is this a recurring event in parking lots? Is this maybe a video in the making on Safety? What are the common safety measures we should all take and be aware of. Being on the road is not for the innocent and uneducated of road hazards. Glad you are all safe.

It happened in the last episode too. In short, I think it's mostly due to the Bird. To a high homeless person, our old motorhome looks like a safe haven. When in CA, we now only stay at RV parks.
I enjoy how much y’all love Charlie. I just lost one of my doggies but seeing y’all with Charlie made me happy.
I agree with you seeing Charlie makes us happy also. We had to put our baby down after 13 years and she was a German Shepherd and Great Dane and we are having such a hard time without her. She was with us every day as we are retired and every vacation she went with us. Sorry for your loss of your fur baby..

Hey guys can you do a show on safety being on the road and dealing with people trying to get into your rig and how many times have you had bad situation with people on the road
I thought the same. Is this a problem that has ramped up in recent years? Would value hearing your experiences and your observations. Or do you feel it's happening more because it's the Bird ~ people either wanting to steal a vintage RV or just look inside? Does this happen in your Silver Ginger too?

Danie Simpson an Australian youtuber has been pulling a trailer like Brad's for a couple years and she really likes it. I hope Brad is enjoying his. Nice job Caleb on the offroad driving. Hope Brad taught you to 2 foot drive when going over rocks to keep the forward momentum. The tweety Bird jeep was pretty cute also.

I was forced to eek thru that state the other day. Gas was $5.89/gal there. A few miles down the road in Arizona it was $2.97. Yeah I got my gas in AZ!
Sad part is, they're fleeing that state as fast as they can and voting for the same crap in their new state

Why was there water in the bedroom?
The Bird is beautiful just needs a little help power wise , the Bronco is nice but I kinda like the two door yellow jeep Happy is a good name for it . But no offense I like like the little white flat fender Willys at 24:43 that was just puttin along thats more my style . Charlie sitting in the Bird by himself watching the other dogs walk by was so cute .

Answering the fire wood question..... we camp in idaho which is 7 miles from us...... we can not legally take fire wood to their state. We cut trees that are already dead. And we leave what's left if any. That's how it works for washington/idaho. We too have a propane fire pit. We generally use it in the morning while drinking coffee.

And, because I figured you might be curious, from a little bit of “internal” research I’m pretty sure that little Craftsman vacuum is made by Craftsman and not Shop-Vac. I’m glad it worked well.

I had a 2015 Rubicon 7 years, Now have a Bronco Wildtrack, Like the Bronco a lot better. Not really a fair comparison as the Bronco is a much more advanced vehicle. Crawling Rocks sure my Jeep on 37s is better, But for everything else, Bronco Wildtrack no contest.

This was a great combo. Two of my favorite channels.
Checkout TH-cam weather forecaster and live streamer “Ryan Hall, Y’all”. Great forecasts, let’s you know about the tornados, ice storms, winter squalls, etc.. Like the golf ball size hail in Denton, Tx yesterday and the Ice events in the Ozarks, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas tomorrow.

My parents had a "Brave" motorhome that lacked in hill pulling power. What they did, was to drive the towed vehicle up the hill apart from the motorhome, otherwise it would climb hills very slow.
Ah, I see a Camco Little Red Fire Pit. Great camping accessory. I don't mind carrying around a full sized bottle of propane and a propane fire pit. Sure, a real wood fire is nice, but just as the guy said, you are lugging around all that firewood, how much firewood would you need to replace the fire from a 20lb tank of propane? I liked the Little Red Fire Pit so much I purchased the Big Red Fire Pit, too.
Smart move with the tourniquet. Marc, you should consider having IFAK’s in your vehicles as well.
OMG, Marc - please cut away from your hand! One slip on those (I assume) sharp knives and you'll likely end up with surgery to reattach tendons in your hand. We don't want to go weeks/months without your videos while you recover!

At about 2:20 you mention driving to Malibu when in fact you’re in Laguna Beach. Malibu is at least two hours north of Laguna, where you were. That’s without any traffic. I’m not sure how you could have butchered that quite frankly.

Liked this video for so many reasons, off-roading with vehicles that make it easy (I drive a 2014 Jeep Sahara named Murray, a manual drive for lots of fun), giving Caleb the drive experience, beautiful Joshua Tree, showing you can cook delish meals out of doors anytime, anywhere (especially with Trish's Blends), and just a plain old good time with friends (Brad & Regina) !! I like the name Happy for the yellow wonder...

Interesting to watch! I love seeing the ocean and Charlie relaxing on the beach! It’s one of my favorite places to go. My daughter and son-in-law live in Pasadena and we love to visit the coast and stay by the ocean when we go there.

Not exactly the economic way to see JT. I'd say that guy has a couple of hundred thou invested in that truck and camper. My 78 Blazer will out run it. And the little off road camper I built for $500 works just fine.
Curious to hear what you are using to monitor temp inside the RV when Charlie is left alone. I know you’ve done a couple episodes on it before but new products come out every year that may be a better fit. So many options out there and just depends if you have cell service or Wifi.
The Bird really needs a power boost. Like a turbo and maybe propane injection. I’m enjoying your adventures. Keep having fun and stay safe.

Man that would cost a ton to turbo that thing. Complete engine rebuild due to high compression pistons in that thing. But boy would it be a serious KICK in the pants from what there used too…LOL
You need to add a turbo to the Cat engine.
The Black Series off road trailer that Big Truck Big RV is testing out has that 360 degree articulating hitch.
For future knowledge, when vacuuming wet/liquid stuff, should take out the the filters.

I haven't watched Trail Recon in awhile. You should have shown him that vintage President CB you have. He could have told you how much it could be worth. Some of the old President CBs can sell for decent $$$.

I was stationed at the Marine base in 29 Palms. We use to spend our weekends on the BLM next to the monument, it changed to a park in 95 when I got out and returned to Colorado. I understood that the park expanded and a public cabin was taken over by the park. It was a great place to go out and hang out for the weekend.

Like Josh Baskins (Tom Hanks in Big), I don't get it. You very slowly climb over rocks with a car. I don't understand the excitement. Much like a transformer that turns into a building. What about it excites you? Seriously, is it the mechanics and performance of the vehicles?
I don’t know the best place to ask, but what do you do to make travel days better inside the truck for everyone? Comfort, Storing personal items, reading, chargers, everything a person would want in the cab of the truck?

Ah yes, Waterfront RV Park...we have family in HB and have stayed there many times...unfortunately. Never have I paid so much to stay in what is basically a Walmart parking lot. I guess they can do that when they are the only game in town.
Of course I loved this Ep with Brad and Regena! Had a blue CJ 5 soft top, doors and I agree the the two door Jeeps are the coolest looking!

You didn't hike to the hidden falls at Indian Cove or the Amboy crater by Roys! There are handicapoed sites and trails in JTNP.

The homeless people trying to force themselves into your rv is my biggest fear when we start rving... I had a really scary experience visiting Chicago for a baseball game and a homeless guy was pulling on my hoodie asking for money and wouldn't let me go. And I am a small 5 foot person so it doesnt take much to knock me down. :( I dont remember seeing that other than this season with the bird. Is that a common experience that happens with rving or parking in big box stores? I would love to know how y'all stay safe especially with leaving Charlie for a period of time, since we have 2 pups ourselves and will be visiting NP and museums.

Okay, how do we tackle this lack of power I am sure you have researched but there are moves to be made but it will never be what you want but if you can get it to pull the grades at 40 would be cool. That was an amazing day in Joshua Tree . It's never fun to drive the freeways in Southern California with the constant construction and narrow lanes. We've not had a ton of experience but it seems like Southern California has more Narrow lanes.
