NZ is pretty big tbf. Almost the size of Japan. And we have around 5 million km2 of exclusive economic zone area. All ours that we can't protect very well.

She turned out to be everything I ever wanted in a woman. We dated all through college. She always joked that she would never marry me unless I "converted" to being an Australian. After we both graduated, I secretly pulled some strings and got myself a great job, and I bought a place in Cairns (the absolute best place to live in Australia). I didn't tell her until the day before the flight. Then we boarded. After like 3 layovers, the two of us jetlagged exhausted 23 year olds finally made it to the land down under, where, other than the time a month before that when I secretly went house hunting (and my excuse to her was I was going on a guys trip with my friends to Florida). After we got settled in, I said, "well, look, I did it, now you better say yes" and I pulled out the ring. She said yes, and right then, my conversion to being an Australian was complete. She's my wife now. Honestly I have no desire to live in the US again. The cities, the culture, everything is just so shitty in comparison to Australia. I've gotta visit New Zealand at some point soon. But right now I'm stuck because of COVID travel restrictions. Poor me in COVID-free Cairns.
