    Nice vid, Vlad. Agreed on a bunch of these! it's crazy how good we have it these days vs even 5 years ago for offerings.
    TLB's Artista is REALLY hard to beat at this price range (or even fr a bit more). I have the 107 already, and 112 is on it's way now. They pretty much son the rest of my collection if you get up close on the details (until you get to the the Meccariello's). What they do for sub $400 is outstanding. You should cop a pair in the future for sure.
    I was looking at JF's Magnolia at one point, but that triple stitch killed it for me too. CS and Cobbler Union are of course brands I own and really like. Both great options. Unfortunately, Loake is dead to me if they don't come back to the US this year. They really left us high and dry, but I do love the few 1880's I have.

      Amos my brother, what’s good? As shoe enthusiasts, it’s really a great time to be alive right now LOL. I’ll be getting a pair from TLB soon, I’ll talk about it on here once I get it.
      AM is on the list as well but further down the line.

    I'm new to your content. You are simply the best. Me and my wife sit and watch your content for an hour at a time. Some of the information I knew, but I've learned so much from you. I'm in the market to upgrade my wardrobe. I have a $10,000 budget. Give me your recommendation for vendors for a few new suits, shoes, shirts and ties plus anything else you think. Let me know. @v_r_  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Anthony, thanks so much for your kind words! I’m glad that you’ve found the content useful and I hope that your son will as well. First and foremost, 10k will take you a long way, second, I do some style consulting on the side and it's hard to do it in this setting but I'll try. As you can probably tell, I use Spier & Mackay a lot, 90% of my suits and all my shirts are from them. I truly feel like they’re the best in term of making quality product at a great value. The only thing is it's hard to buy suits online without knowing if they'll fit but they have free shipping so you can gauge your size.
      Other places that I've used for suits in the past is Suitsupply and Kent Wang (custom). As far as shoes, there are too many to name and preferences will play a part there but Carmina is a great place to start. For ties, I love Shibumi, E.G. Cappelli, Berg & Berg, Vanda, Sam Hober and many others. Where are you located? If you have any further questions, you can email me at vlad@chaceandryder.com.

    I have the Carlos Santos on 387 Last and the cap toe is quite long as well. It looks fantastic but you have to make sure to set the crease on the vamp before start wearing them. That or your mirror shine will crack very easy. If you don't mirror shine, the cap toe on those shoes are fine.
    I wouldn't buy those again only because of that piece of leather on the back. As a shoe shine enthusiast, I would love to be able to mirror shine the counter area and it will not look right on those shoes.

    I own multiple Carlos Santos Shoes - including the 401 last. That last is not that elongated as the picture suggest. It has a nice hugging arch. You can find them cheaper than AFPOS from thenobleshoes for example (about 280usd and free shipping) but on a different last. At 280 usd that's only about 60 usd more than meermin (you pay shipping for meermin) which quality control is more than questionable !
    Löf & Tung is also very good quality and made in Spain ! I own only boots from them
    I personally own the Cobbler Union Black Captoe Oxford. I can only say that the city last is crazy beautiful with a beveled, fiddleback and narrow waist ! That's the only brand that offers that at this price point. It is by far the most elegant pair of shoes that I have !
    I think Carmina just started to be a bit too expensive in the US. Waiting for a little incentive is not a bad idea. I own a few from them and they are well made shoes. But I can't explain the price difference between Carmina, Löf and Tung or Cobbler Union. TLB Artista looks like a cheaper and same quality alternative !
    Very well done Mr. Riché !
    Close to 200 usd for smaller budget is Meermin, Skolyx, Yanko, Herring, for example. All Goodyear welted !

    Wouldn’t this Vass last be considered a better formal (conservative) business shoe along with being appropriate for weddings and funerals? Just trying to sort this out. Vass last.....try saying that early in the morning-
    Is a classic, round toe, black oxford shoe the best choice for formal business meetings and/or special business events, such as award dinners etc? Is there any difference in the formality of a say, Carmina Forest black, cap toe oxford and their Rain last?

    Vladimir, thank you for your wonderful content. I've been following your channel for quite some time and love it. I am considering ordering my first pair of bespoke shoes, mostly due to fit and foot issues with RTW shoes. What design would you suggest as a first pair: a black captoe Oxford--or something in brown or burgundy? I work in the U.S., in a law firm-type dress environment where my dress code is, usually, trousers and a dress shirt and, occasionally, a suit. Thank you! Hope you're staying safe and healthy.

    • @v_r_
      @v_r_  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your kind words. It sounds like your dress code is a little more relaxed, so I’d go with a Dark Brown Punched Captoe Oxford. Still dressy but not as formal as Black Captoe Oxford. Which brand are you ordering from?

    • @soulandwit5029
      @soulandwit5029 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@v_r_ Thank you so much for your reply and advice! I hadn’t even considered a brown punched capote oxford-dual personality which can be, as you say, dressy when you need it to be, casual when you need it to be. I’m currently considering a maker out of China, YIM. Ideally, I would go with an established house-for instance, G&G, Cleverley, Dominic Casey, Fukuda, or Daniel Wegan-but their prices are much higher than what I can afford. If you’re interested, I can, from time to time, keep you updated on my shoes’ progress over the next year.

    • @v_r_

    • @v_r_
      @v_r_  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I prefer TLB’s Artista line over Carmina, although I like both brands. The main difference is in the details like the slim beveled waist, the leather heel stiffener, more stitches per inch, the close cut heels that accentuate the back of the shoes. Hope that helps.

      Hey Tolui! I never heard someone describing my channel as such but I like it LOL. As far as those style of shoes, that one is strictly preferential. Personally I’d always pick a cap toe for a couple reasons. One, they look better to my eyes and second, whole cuts usually crease more across the vamp since it’s just one piece of leather. But there’s no wrong answer.

    Do you think a black pair of single strap monk shoes can fill the place of black cap toes?

    • @v_r_

      I’d say no. The thing is a monkstrap’s design is more casual than dressy. And Black as a color is way more dressy than casual. So I don’t think a Black monk is a good combo at all.

    Hi, I bought a pair of Loake Aldwych as my first black cap toe oxford. Even though the shoe looked beautiful, the toe part was too narrow for me and the leather is stiff so it was unconfortable to wear (to me). I then purchased a pair of Paraboot black cap toe oxfords (Clemenceau model) which does not look as good to me but which is very comfortable. What do you think of Allen Edmonds Park Avenue? • @cyvycymusic1096

    • @v_r_
      @v_r_  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What’s up, Alejandro? It’s always good to give your shoes a nice shine with cream and wax prior to wearing them out for the first time. That provides another level of protection although they won’t make your shoes waterproof by any stretch. I wear suede if rain is in the forecast and I’ll probably be outside.

    There is also a Dutch shoebrand that ships high quality shoes for far under $500,-, the brand is called Floris van Bommel. These shoes are made in the Dutch town Moergestel and are made by man and machine. Floris van Bommel is the brand of quality shoes for when you want to step in to dress shoes and add a funny twist by using derbies with lots of different fashionable patterns. But they also make just a simple black cap toe Oxford with a yellow colored leather outsole. The majority of the shoes of van Bommel are Blake stitched. This might be a brand to look at for when you don't have that kind of budget to buy an $500,- shoe.

      I hear you, Robert and I'm glad that you were able to look past the hat. But at the same token, I do this for kids that would click on it just because the hat is something that they wear themselves. Plus I never thought that a 100% cashmere hat is in bad taste. I don't use it as a prop for the thumbnail, I really do wear them. So if anyone doesn't click because I'm wearing a beanie, so be it, I don't really care.

Most men (having children and other financial obligations) can typically not afford higher priced ready to wear, much less bespoke items, and your channel really hits that sweet spot of value with quality.
