Classic Game Room reviews MECHWARRIOR for the Super Nintendo video game system released in 1993 (or 1992 depending on region). GIANT ROBOTS CRUSHING THINGS. - บันเทิง
I remember getting this game for my birthday in fifth grade, it was so awesome, and it was my first foray into the mech-sim genre, since then I've always love this genre.
The thought of you piloting a giant mech that had all these sub-systems like managing you're ammo, heat, using jump-jets aiming for different body parts of your enemy to disable weapons systems or destroying their legs to slow them down blew my mind back in the day. And the replay value from just doing side-missions is amazing
"Homing missiles! They're like homing pigeons, except angrier and more explosive."
Unless you count the homing pigeons from the Worms games. Those are some dangerous mofos...
My goodness I love the sound effects in this game!
Loved this game as a kid. The new game room is sweet!
Thankyou for reviewing this Mark. Been looking forward to watching it as soon as I posted it to you.
That screaming face at the end is the box art from the 8-bit classic 'Exile'.
Thank you dan for donating this throw back that brings so many fond memorys of my childhood this is why i love CGR and why i buy a shit load of their T shirts =]
"Homing missiles! Just like homing pigeons, but angrier"
I'll bet if you painted pictures of birds on your homing missiles, you might have a new game craze.
the new Intergalactic Space Arcade looks awesome
I like each of Mark's video before they even load. Because Mark never disapoints!
Like the new place/set!
LOVE SO MANY VIDS MARK!
I love this game, childhood fave. Light mechanical, big engine, heatsink, and ppc cannon Got thru a lot
I searched for one a week ago. Good thing I subbed
Love the new space arcade man!
Wow Mark, your new Intergalactic Space Arcade (TM) is radically cool!
SOMEONE PLEASE enlighten me, do I HAVE TO have my targeting reticle in the right place to target an enemy, or if I have the enemy locked on and can see their mech on my HUD, do my weapons automatically hit?? I know that missiles will generally track targets without being dead on with the reticle, but will the BEAM WEAPONS, MACHINE GUNS, ETC???
Wow, that car in the back is beautiful.
Gotta love MechWarrior, now owned by MekTek, and MechWarrior IV is available for free download, offered by MekTek, and authorized by Microsoft.
Damn, you always talk about the El Camino and there it is! Sweet car.
I played the hell out of Mechwarrior 3 back in the day on my old IBM Aptiva PC
I loved this game.
This was a difficult title back in the day. I still can vividly remember being highly upset.
now we want the pc version review too!
Do a review on gyruss for nes
Love that sweet shiny, glossy floor.
I played MW 2 and 3 but I still managed to enjoy the SNES one lol.
It's great for a 16 bit game.
Is that your garage? That is awesome.
You can't show us that tiny little bit of your awesome new game room without doing a tour.
exactly!
My final Mech weapons array was one large Laser and as many Homing Missiles as I could pack on even though in any other Battletech or Mechwarrior game, tabletop, console, and PC alike my loadout of choice is a Heavy Mech with all energy weapons.
no PPC’s?
Not on the SNES game. Any other Mechwarrior game set in that era sure. In the SNES game the Large Laser is just an emergency fallback weapon
Hey guys I'm wondering if I should get a nes or a sees
the new intergalactic space arcade looks pretty sweet.
Your profile pic made that all the more terrifying haha
There was a MECHWARRIOR game for SNES?!
(head explodes)
I remember for the last mission in this game I just loaded up a ton of lasers, a bunch of heat sinks, a big engine, and maybe some machine guns (I forget, long time ago) and I just kited the big bad guy around for like 10 minutes before he finally died.
This game looks sick, it's like gundam wolfenstien.
It's a great game. People compare it to later mech titles but for a 16 bit game this is very impressive and very playable.
Mark, If you like mechs, you should try Hawken. It's a mmofps where you fight inside giant mechs. There are also many customization options as well.
This game looks pretty cool
Pretty impressive for mode 7 graphics :)
Mark, if you're just gonna let that El Camino sit around, you should modify it to be a giant El Camino racing seat. Like... a racing seat... that's also an El Camino.
sweet I have a MechWarrior game on my sega sat
I miss I haven't seen thins much Mech Warrior since I first started watching G4.
Review the El Camino!
Where did CGR acquire an El Camino? I bet it's a Transformer.
Or Battlecorps for the Mega CD.
Can I live in that arcade? Please? It looks so beautiful.
I know that machine gun sound from Tower Assault!
I demand a video on the El Camino.
They made a Mechwarrior game for the Super Nintendo? Amazing. Hey what is the name of that indy FPS released recently where you drop out of the sky?
8 yrs later and still no answer. Sigh..
@@majorgear1021 Now that I re-visit this question, it is really embarrassing that I didn't know. It's on my Switch for God's sake!
There's a bizarre trick you can do with this game. First, sell all of a Mech's weapons. Next, pick a mission and engage. Now run backwards while firing (yes, Firing!). Each time you hit the fire button, 2 "ghost mechs" appear and shoot the bejesus out of you. Basically they look like a floating blue head and torso, and they fire missiles back at you.
MechWarrior: Living Legends is my favorite MechWarrior game. :D
great review! I think that I’ll get the PC version with better controls, though.
I prefer the PC version too but good luck finding a copy for a reasonable price...and if you do good luck trying to run it as it comes in two floppy disks, one 3 1/2" and one 5 1/4" (you only need one though, depending on what kind of floppy disk drive you have...if you have one that is).
P.S. You're better off downloading it off the internet and running it via DOSBox (cuz its a DOS game).
Weapons strategy? In MY Snes Mechwarrior?
Fill every slot with short range missiles and this game will carry itself straight through to the ending credits.
That's a good looking game
Mode 7 FTW !
Well Mark I hope you know what you've opened yourself up to, now you have to review the pc version :)
you should check out sd gundam capsule fighters online mark
He should review JUST MechAssault. Laughs will be had.
No, I mean the original tabletop/rpg/boardgame. THAT Battletech.
i loved this game, but couldnt progress too far as a kid. always died in the protect missions
new mechwarrior online is ridiculous, although I do miss playing ghost bears legacy
It was really ambitious and a clever idea to try and remake MechWarrior with Mode 7, but it didn't quite work out. I do think Mark is remembering the original DOS game as being a bit more advanced than it was though.
Christopher Blair defintely, playing both right now this is definotely better. the original dos version has only 16 colours and thus look smterrible and also sounds shit only earkillimg pc speaker bleeps and tiny bit of music. this sounds and especially looks 10000000000 times better, its night and day!
This looks pretty awesome for a SNES game. Might have to put it on my List of Games to Collect Someday When I have Money.
So how's going on with collecting or money ?!
@@TheCommentNinja81 I have some money, still don't have the game.
I had this game as a kid, but it was a bit too complicated for me to figure out. I wasn't used to the idea of a first-person game at the time.
It was called Section 8: Prejudice.
The Villager is always terrifying..
keeping in spirit with the "Pacific rim" movie i see
If you like giant robots, try reviewing Armored Core for the Playstation.
hey Mark, I think you'll like MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries :D heck, it's free too
Mark need to review Unreal Championship!!
There's a way to get like a million C bills in the early game, which allows you to buy just about any mech you want!
Fuck MechWarrior, I want that car.
my first mechwarrior game ever. was awesome. way better then the 3050 game
CLASSIC GAME, CLASSIC REVIEW.... this is what CGR is all about. Fuck modern reviews
You probably reviewed this game today because the new Pacific Rim movie comes to theaters tomorrow :)
Dat car
no... That's his Intergalatic Space Arcade!
Developed by BEAM SOFTWARE! :D
Wow its been a while since mark reviewed a game that I actually own. And by the way this game is brutally difficult.
I’ll keep that in mind before I play it
@@majorgear1021 the controls are hard to get used to. If you use the D pad you'll walk around and you can jump and use jetpack and whatnot. If you're holding down the B button I think it is you control your reticle to aim where you want to shoot. So you constantly have to switch between controlling the mech and aiming the gun. The R and L buttons turn the mech so it forces you to really use both hands when playing.
Here's two scenarios.
One person delivers a thoughtful, reasonable argument. He thought long and hard about the issues and delivered a fair and concise rebuttal to another person's logic.
The other person doesn't like that he lost, like a sore fucking loser he decides to try to nastily pull the other person's argument down to his level by claiming it can only ever be equal to his, nevermind how this person wouldn't be claiming this if he had "won."
These two people are far from equal.
this is appropiate with pacific rim being so awesome
Key word is "necessarily." You seemed to have missed that part conveniently.
Loved that game! Back in the late 90s I played either Mech Warrior 2 or 3 on the PC like a motherfucker! Sorry, but I can't remember which one it was, but I remember it was fucking awesome!
When the picture fits the comment.
controls are not that bad. hit pause, A L L Y A L L Y A L L Y Then see what happens :P
i keep overheating
this game always pissed me off, but i still played it.
I sent mech2 to the empire... no one got it. :\
Nothing like an old car in the background for a video game review.
Sorry, old background was FAR better.
Oh god this game is so FUCKING awesome! It's even better than the original DOS game although it's pretty hard if you don't know what to do. This was back when Activision was cool.
Hi Mark,
I'd love to loan you Steel Battalion to review. Shout me sometime and we can figure out the logistics.
AURGH!! You keep saying robots, robots robots! They're not ROBOTS dammit! lol! Any MechWarrior fan watching this is tearing their hair out right now.
This game must've given it's fair share of seizures.
Need for speed the run has some el caminos :)
It's not free actually, MekTek lost the rights to their free distributed version back in march of 2013
I mean you could literary just give a crap about the main story campaign and just go do secondary missions of various difficulties forever without even touching the main campaign. And although customization was a bit more limited in this version than in the original version and later games in the series, it was still awesome that you could buy different mechs of different caliber, assign different engines, armor, type of weapons ranging from machine guns to rocket launcher and PPCs on an SNES.
Still wouldn't say SNES is better, in the 16-bit era I prefered Mega Drive :P
SNES just seems too blurred out and lacks the crisp contrast filled graphics and sound that the MD and NES had.
There were plenty of good games on SNES (Wild Guns, Ninja Warriors, etc) but overall I just couldn't really get around to liking the sound and graphics of said system.
I grew up with SNES more than MD back in the day, so it's not purely nostalgia talking.
I agree. I *really* love my SNES but compared to the Genesis/Mega Drive the SNES has washed out colors and you don't get black just dark greys. SNES resolution is lower and games are stretched to fit the screen because of the odd native resolution - so the picture is distorted (no true circles). And the sound is famously muffled due to its use of a gaussian filter which can't be turned off.
01:02 Soo, you are operating.. erm, MechOstrich?
Someone will probably have a seizure from this game with those flashing yellow lights
yeaaa, i was about to say why the hell is that mint condish el camino is doing in the middle of a games room, i could understand if it was an iconic video game car, but yea, the car is annoying, put a pool table there or sumthin lol
It makes me sad because I really enjoyed MechAssault, and apparently everybody hates it.
