an easier way to make lemon syrup is a korean way, lemon cheong. slice clean lemons, put it in equal parts sugar, and let the sugar pull out the lemon juice. keep it in a clean, airtight jar. when the sugar is fully dissolved after a few days, you just need to strain out the lemon, and you're left with yummy syrup! it works with really any type of fruit, so you can make strawberry, orange syrup, etc.
This also takes out the bitter notes from the rines. The classic way is Oleo Saccharum, which is just the peels in sugar- So you only get the tastes from the oils and not the bitter notes.
@@micaelablogsdoes your husband do equal parts peppermint and sugar to make peppermint syrup? Does he muddle/slightly crush the peppermint or just give it a toss and let it do its magic
Your videos are a safe place for me on the internet. So many channels are loud and crazy (which i like sometimes), but here i can appreciate the simple things with you...
I make granola regularly for almost a year now and that's because of you!! I use your recipe and my family absolutely loves it. So easy to make & delicious:)
I’ve been loving your sourdough sandwich loaf, Delilah, and I’ve found it makes the best buns as well!! I typically will make one loaf and then 8 buns from the same batch :)
Oh there is a theme! All the lemon and ice cream and homemade pickles! Those just say summer to me! My mama made homemade pickles in the summer, I need to make them!
Hi Delilah, in case you were not aware: Fresh produce is porous and absorbs soapy water which is why health organisations strongly advise against using detergents or soapy water to rinse veggies. I know you care about using organic, less aggressive detergents. Do you want them in your food though? This is just meant as a friendly pointer, something perhaps to consider :)
Came here to mention this for those unaware. Detergents are absorbed by fruits and veg no matter how well you rinse. You can make homemade fruit and veg wash by combining water, vinegar, lemon juice or salt. The acidity or salinity will kill germs as most microorganisms are sensitive to pH changes and salt will break down cell walls.
People still trust health organizations? They don't exactly have a "clean" (ha) track record. "Don't wash our poison off your veggies!" I'll chug my soap (pure castille) before biting into an unwashed Monsanto apple thank you.
LOVED this video, Delilah! Thank you for sharing your recipes with us. I am also trying to reduce the amount of food we source from the supermarket and this video gave me much inspiration and ideas! ☺
I'm always amazed when I see mothers cooking so peacefully in the kitchen. Why is it so chaotic in my house?? 😵💫 Kids under my feet, just don't go off and play like this it's so overstimulating I usually wait for hubs to get home before I start dinner and during the day I get breakfast on the go before they wake and lunchtime I just have to suffer through it 😭😭🤣
Don't forget that videos and pictures only show a snapshot! Meals at my house were always a whirlwind with five siblings and lots of animals running around too. We ate most of our lunches standing around the counter in the kitchen, with all the sandwich ingredients still strewn about. Now with my own baby, I cook breakfast while he cries and slaps my foot, waiting for me to pick him up. You got this, Mama!
I’ve been making banana bites this summer as well, and you just blew my mind making them like a bar rather than individual. Genius! That will save so much time and mess!
Your content is really becoming more professional and is beautifully done! This definitely sets you apart from other content creators! Happy for you! And excited to try some of these recipes!
I highly recommend cold summer drink “ Kompot” - it’s : berries around 300 gm , you put them in boiling water 1 litre with sugar (to taste ), for 1 minute , cool it down after . It’s healthy and sooo yummy ! With strawberries or peaches or cherries Or apricot or apple . Whatever . I can’t live my life without it 😉🥰 kids will love it I’m sure !
@@MartinaT95 check in Google “ kompot” drink . I’m from Ukraine , we do it from all kinds of fruits - for instant use , as well as for winter time ( in sterile jars ). But for instant use it’s 2 minute job and so lovely drink as result . 😉
For simpler brown sugar, you don’t need to pre mix! Just add the amount of white sugar and add molasses to taste. (For a cup of brown sugar I add a cup of white sugar and about a tbsp of molasses to the wet ingredients)
Where is the dress from with the very big/ full sleeves in pure white. I could only see the sleeves but very interested in seeing the rest. A dress/ wardrobe video is so needed! Please.
I have a lemon loaf receipe that is really good and I can imagine would be good with poppy seeds and as a muffins. I get a ton of compliments on it because its really lemony and moist. This video was such a lulling and endearing watch. Loved EVERYTHING about it. Nearing 40 has made me more aware of what I put in my and my family’s bodies.
I would love to make my own granola more often. Unfortunately, here in Belgium, homemade granola is twice as expensive as store-bought ones. It's insane.
Hey fellow belgian here! Honestly you can make your granola as cheap or expensive as you want. I would make my own to avoid processed sugars etc and with just cheap oatmeal, sugar/honey and oil you have your own. Then you can add whatever you want or just have on hand
I wish there were more people like your family where I live, our social circle is so small, its hard to make new friends as adults let alone people with the same values and morals.
Hi Delilah, I love to watch you cook your yummy recipes! Yes, make more of these videos. Your kids are getting so big! I love watching them helping you in the kitchen. Have a great week! Thanks for sharing! ♥️😉🫂🐾🦋✏️🪡🧵🧶🍄🍁🎃🧙♀️✨️
You inspire me! I am finally getting to the point where I can start doing more in the kitchen after 4 months with my new baby. He’s my first and this adjustment has been hard 😂 but I love seeing your family. It inspires me to do more
If you're looking for more clusters in your granola try grinding half the oats into flour, you can also add an egg white along with the wet ingredients for more cluster power
Agh you're always so inspirational, I really do want to start making more from scratch. But it can feel so intimidating, especially when it comes to buying and having all of the ingredients necessary. But I think I'll start slowly building an inventory for goods made from scratch and work my way up one recipe at a time! Always love these videos 🤍
Hey Delilah! I sent you a DM as well, but you may want to check out Better Basics milling! It’s milled in okatoks Alberta, and the varieties we’ve got in my store are grown by a farmer in Nanton (between Lethbridge and Calgary) and Vonda, Saskatchewan. You can buy some unmilled flours I believe, but if you want specific wheats or to exoirment it’s a loval place!
I just want to say, this is very handy for getting ideas for making things easier myself. Sometimes for recipes, sometimes for what to do with a kind of thing that I had not thought of (like freezing balls of cookie dough instead of cookies- then one can have fresh cookies without making the dough right then!). So thank you very much for doing this. I also am enjoying your chats about motherhood related things because I am just embarking on that journey now.
“While I was in the kitchen…” 😂 I find myself saying this. You have to enjoy the kitchen or the results to do it. Building a joyful strength in homemaking is beautiful and leaves a legacy for both the homemaker and the Lord, when done unto Him. I will also say having more children is actually helpful. They become the best of friends and play so well together if you facilitate that in your home environment. Let’s say it bears good fruit and I hear Mama’s with bigger families say it often.
Please dont use soap to wash your vegetables, no matter how "clean" the ingredients. Vinegar will do the same job without your family consuming chemicals.
Your family‘s fospa sounds just like what my husbands family does here in Germany for dinners where you just don’t have anything concrete planned! It’s even called it something similar - vesper (fesh-pa is how it’s pronounced). I love learning about the shared traditions between North American mennonites and Germans, as I have roots in both!
