I LOVE it when Tanner inserts the entire story behind certain verses and quotes. It’s so funny how they always mean something completely different as to what the speaker is using the quote for in their talk. It is even better when the actual quote contradicts what the person giving the talk is trying to convey. 😂👌🏻
You both are so knowledgeable, and I always learn something new when I watch your videos. I wish everyone in this world looked at issues with open minds and in an intellectual way like you guys do.

Even in America itself it's massively different from one country to another. In my home country people who are in are really in. It is impossible to try and have a conversation with these believers. My country is very conservative (i think a lot of Hispanic countries are) and in general our culture aligns somewhat with the church's values. But in some other countries in south America it is a whole different story. I believe the church has failed to make a lot of its history available in other languages and therefore, unless you can understand English you have to really dig to find the history.

Shocking to see a religion whose whole schtick is to send teenagers around the globe to gain followers isn't culturally sensitive! Most British people I know are really sceptical of the LDS church. I moved from Canada to the UK, and the first town I lived in had 2 American female missionaries that were so lovely though. I was homesick and it was clear they were too. Chatted with them a few times, and they were so genuine, and it was obvious that they were looking for anyone who reminded them of home because I made it clear I didn't want to discuss religion and they respected that boundary. I hope they didn't get in trouble for that.

I went on a mission instead of university, specifically, because I was told that I will be blessed for my service and will be able to go to BYU either with help of sponsors or Perpetual Education Fund. When I came home, neither was allowed in my country. I still was fed with promises, so I wasted 10 years for nothing.

When we had to register at the beginning of our missions in Germany (and each subsequent city after a transfer), there's the option to include one's religion, mostly for tax reasons I think (Catholic and evangelical Christians have their taxes deducted directly from their paycheques). It bothered me then, but it tickles me now that Mormonism falls under the category of "Sonstige" or "other". Definitely isn't recognised as a church here, but when people are aware of it (most I met/continue to meet have never heard of TCoJCoLDS, though some are familiar with the word "Mormon"), they associate it with America, cults, and polygamy.

The church struggles in Australia for similar reasons, at least where I was going. Australians culturally are skeptical of high authority and also resent insincere sickly sweet sugar coating sort of talk which the church is rife with. For a ‘church’ determined to spread like a tumour, they really do not tone down the Americanisms which would definitely help, even the members laugh at it

    • @the-salamander4truth
      @the-salamander4truth ปีที่แล้ว

Did you see the Australian 60 minutes on the church’s tax scam there? They got caught with 100 billion sitting in an account here in the US. The year after they were caught, they announced building a shit ton of temples. I can’t believe people give this cult a dime. So happy I’m out!

I served in Spain and lived in France for a while. I really felt it when you said Europe is just a side project to the church. You definitely get the vibe living there that you're an afterthought. It becomes especially apparent having lived in North and South America, that they get all the attention and the rest of the world gets the scraps. Even most of the temples outside of the Americas are staffed primarily by old couples from Utah blowing their retirement savings to serve a mission.

It's a shame the internet didn't exist in Joseph Smith's time. One of the things that helped his con succeed is that he was able to vanish from a town whenever people caught onto what he was doing and set up operations in a new town once the coast was clear(like his scam with the Kirtland Safety Society). If the internet had existed in his time, then his face/deeds would have been all over social media. When he sent missionaries to Europe, the victims only got the missionaries' side of the story. I seriously doubt anybody in Europe heard anything about the Mormon church having been founded by a conman who was convicted of money digging and liked to look at a rock in his hat

Yeah, as Former Mormon I can tell you the LDS church doesn’t see it that way. According to the church the Jew’s lost their place as God’s chosen people and hence why a new chosen people were needed… enough we still need to each be told we’re part of the 12 tribes. It’s a mess.

@@redcurrantart I get that’s what’s taught in the LDS Church. It’s just that as a Jew, I find it a little offensive when your former church says that. People in the West only think of Judaism as a religion when it’s more than that. We are a thousands of years old tribal people/culture that can’t be defined by Western standards. There’s a reason why we call ourselves עם ישראל (Am Yisrael) the nation/people of Israel.

I studied with some Mormons to get to know about the faith & as I got more into it, I was VERY shocked at the “ fantasy” beliefs of this religion( Books of Mormon- left under/ by a rock) by an Angel( Moroni)…( something like that) but it was all so “ made up” & run by ALL men ( given so much power & authority?!?) telling people how to live & control over every single aspect of their lives( especially women & children). I was raised by intelligent & independent( married) Mother & Father & the way these people just “followed” along like sheep, just shocked me to the core… they control the minds & lives of people by getting into their private lives. Controlling with invading families lives & making everyone “feel” they are a member of a bigger( deeper, truer, exclusive, “special”, more moral) group… it’s such a con & scam & they acted so desperate to get me to become a member & shun everyone who wasn’t “ going along & with me”…. I'm so unsurprised that Mormonism is recognised as a real religion in Slovakia. We love our weird religions, like half of the country is catholic. Jehovah's witnesses are also kinda big there.

You both do great work. I appreciate the work and time you put into the videos. I would love to have a conversation with you about why after leaving Mormonism, I also deconstructed a belief in the lies told by our political prophets as well. No gods no masters! I can agree that American capitalism has been corrupted in a similar manner as the church, but why decentralized capitalism is actually the government equivalent of agnosticism, not socialism or its variants. I'm sure we would agree on the majority of the problems we're all facing, I only want to challenge your assessment that the problems with capitalism are unsolvable. The vast majority of the failures of capitalism are actually caused by politicians and their supporters, rather than an inherent problem with capitalism itself.

It’s stupid that Mormon’s or the church call themselves “the house if Israel” or whatever they say Jews aren’t marginalized though, they’re one of the most powerful groups in the world.

Don't say "Mormon" Leaders but instead use the Church's full name: "Leaders of the Corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints"

It is obvious you kn ow nothing about the church, It is not a cult it is a world wide church, There is no such thing as a Mormon or Mormon church, the memberts are Latter- day saints.
Israel is more than the tribe of Judah who are the Jews, the members of the church are mainly comprised of the tribe of Ephraim and the tribe of manassa

Blah blah blah. You realize I was born in and spent 35 years of my life in the stupid smiley face cult. It’s a mind control organization. Like it matters that the current fake old guy leader wants to eradicate the word Mormon. Even tho we all grew up proud to be “Mormon”. It’s really weird when Mormons try to tell Jews what and who Israel really is. Hilarious actually. Think for yourself. You are free to walk away from it.
