MGS2: Destroying Harrier WITHOUT Stinger

- This took a LOT of patience. But in the end I managed to do what I set out to do and prove that even on European Extreme, the Harrier can be shot down without using the Stinger (or RGB6).

This is incredible! I've been playing MGS2 for 22 years (no seriously, like every year for 22 years), and never considered this could work. Well done!
Haha thank you! I've known about this for a long time because I've experimented quite a lot in this game but it's certainly not something many would even think of trying 😂
There are so many things I've learned from other players too and it's always incredibly cool to see something that you hadn't seen before in a 20+ year old game that I've invested hundreds if not thousands of hours in myself! Just doing my part to show some of the things that many probably don't know about :)
You persevered through this very well buddy, I recall dying on this so much on higher difficulties back in the day. Enoyed the shake of the head Stinger wise at the start haha.💪🐍🧬🐍🔥
Yeah on higher difficulties this is another extremely difficult fight, at least until you become aware of that "safe corner" which makes things a lot less painful haha. I actually had to do this twice because that corner is only 99,9% safe from the missile barrage and one of the missiles did hit and kill me when the Harrier only had a small bit of HP left so this one took quite a bit of patience 😅
I'm glad you enjoyed that little head shake at the Stinger too hahaha, Raiden said "I have no use for this thing" 😂
I watched to see how you handled the harriers gun but stayed for the journey. Well done!

Will this softlock you if you dont pick up the stinger?
Great question! I did this same thing years ago on Easy and kept playing afterwards, and if I recall correctly when you meet Snake in Arsenal Gear you'll have the Stinger added to your inventory, so the answer is no, you won't get softlocked 🙂
Next thing to wait for is to beat 20 MG Rays without Stinger or Grenade Launcher LOL

The point of these videos is to (hopefully) show people something new that they had never seen nor thought of trying before. That, and because I enjoy doing nonsensical challenges like this.
Aside from the one where I beat Vamp without using the common exploit, these aren't meant to be educational, just to show outside-the-box stuff that's likely new for many.
Is this even possible without the wig? LMFAO
I thought it wasn't, until I saw another player do this fight using literally only the Socom and without the wig 😂
I don't know if you realize but Solidus was mocking you for using a weapon that was not intended for the fight and ultimately hashed the battle out longer. "This place is buzzing with flies". I'm sure you beat him with the M4 but it's still not a viable option and very little was accomplished here other than some useless bragging rights of taking him down with a weak weapon for the situation. M4 isn't weak mind you but for this purpose yes it is...
Indeed, he mocks you with "that didn't hurt at all!" and "what's this?" as well.
I'm very much aware of the other stuff you said too. I didn't do this with any sort of "bragging rights" in mind, don't know why you would expect that to be the reason. I'm not here to be like "look at how good I am!!!!!1!", there are countless players better than me and that's a fact I'm very much aware of. This was done merely just to show a different kind of way of defeating the Harrier, one that many people have never seen or thought of trying themselves before, and also to prove that it is possible to take it down without using the Stinger. This is obviously not the ideal way to deal with the Harrier at all.
