      Hi @@conniee7429 🙋🏾‍♀️ I agree to a LARGE extent. But I also believe it depends on the person's ability to take of their extensions as well as how good of a job the Loctician did. 💞 I've had Loc extensions for nearly two years and never once have I had one fall out. THEY CAN GET HEAVY THOUGH. 😔

    I feel you!!! I loc’d my hair for hair freedom! I was tired of buying several hair products, weaves, paying salons for braids, styling loose natural hair, etc. my locs are so versatile, I love my retwists, loc styles, and my new growth hair volume...there’s no way I’m cutting them and if I do, I’ll just restart another loc journey!

    I think the beautiful thing to remember about hair is that it always grows back. And one hairstyle shouldn’t ever feel like it has to be permanent. If you want to be bald headed cut it all off. If you wants locs go get those locs! You only live once. Don’t deny yourself the freedom to do whatever the hell you want with the hair that grows out of your head because it’s yours and you have the right to feel happy with whatever hairstyle you choose. Your crown is yours and yours only and it’s yours to change and decorate as you please. ☺️
    Sending you all the love and happiness in the world!! 🍀🌞✨ and thank you for coming out here and speaking your truth it takes a lot of guts!!

    Nothing wrong with missing them at all! I felt the same before starting my current set and I too felt how you’re feeling as far as the up keep of loose natural hair. I just found that locs suited my lifestyle FAR more than anything else (especially with also becoming a new mom). So I think if ever you decide to either reattach your locs or start a new set, there’d be nothing wrong with that either. Zero judgement over here. Life’s short and we all have a right to do what resonates with us!💚🙂

    I just started microlocs and I miss my loose hair lol. BUT I'm (TRY to)see this thing through too because it took way too long to put these damn things in. Personally, I think you look just as beautiful with loose hair as with locked hair. Sometimes I feel like we seek our 'old' hair because it was our comfortable place where we had everything figured out.

    • @NessaShani
      @NessaShani  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      leiahart wow yes micro locs do take awhile to install, I would definitely give it some time! & thank you so much 🙏🏽 I agree our comfort zone is usually the go to & it can be scary to try new things with your hair but it’s so worth it.

    • @JohnsonKayla12
      @JohnsonKayla12 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you keep them in? I just started my locs 3 weeks ago and am already thinking about taking them out lol

    • @EienJunai
      @EienJunai 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JohnsonKayla12 lol it is funny that your comment came to me at this exact moment since I just started taking them out yesterday, and it’s taking forever. I’m only 8 month in and never realized how much my hair matured.
      When I was around 3 weeks I wanted to take them out too but if I was you I would question why you actually want to take them out. Sometimes we just want to because we’re uncomfortable and that discomfort makes us forget why we put them in in the first place -convenience, aesthetics, etc. Once, I got past my first interlock session those thoughts went away so I think I was more anxious about all the growth on my head as well as interlocking process (since I have about 300 locs). Also once my hair thickened up, I definitely enjoyed my hair a lot more and rarely wanted to take them down.
      And even though I’m taking them down now, it’s more because I realize I don’t really like a lot of hair in my face and want more variety. I like wearing my hair pulled-back, miss my puffs and chunky twist. So loose hair seems like the right option for me at the moment. I think If I locked again, I would have bigger locs -my microlocs often felt too fragile to pull back, or maybe I’m just tender headed, and also I had a lot of holes in my locs from improper interlocking, which I am too lazy to try to fix, so I’m just going to take them out.
      This is like my six pair of starter locs too, lol, but the longest I’ve ever lasted. I seem to start them every 2 years too. And we’ll see if I continue to sound so hopeful a week from now when I got all this hair down Lol. Anyway, I hope my experience helped you somehow.

    My first thought when I started the video was "wow, she looks so pretty like this!" You're right in that you shouldn't regret your decision to cut your locs, especially after being loc'd your whole life. You had a curiosity about your hair that you probably would still be mulling over if you had locs to this day. Sometimes you just have to make the change to know what it's like! I'm happy you got to experience your curly hair, whether you decide to return to locs or not. I was permed most of my life and only recently started locs after being a "loose natural" for almost 5 years. You're still a loc/natural hair inspo to a lot of us, and I still queue up your loc videos when I need a lift lol. You're still the Vanessa we love.

    I was super close to combing my locs out last week!! I impulsively combed one out, saw the shrinkage and twisted it right back up lol. Sometimes you think you wanna comb out your locs but you really just need to try a new style. I did a new color and 2 strand twists and have never loved my locs more! Maybe switching up your loose hair will do the trick for you.. no shame in reattaching either though your locs were beautiful 😍

    I'll have mine for 4 years at the end of July. I've been thinking about cutting mine because of health issues. But I hate when people act like the "loc police" and say things to make you feel bad for cutting them. At the end of the day it was your hair and your choice, it didn't directly affect anyone else so people shouldn't harass you about it and worry about their own hair journey. I feel like it was divine timing and everything happens for a reason. You look beautiful either way and I'll stay subscribed to you no matter what you look like because I watch you for your vibe and love your personality!

I wanna play with my hair and do fun wigs and styles I didn't do when I was younger. I have the patience now that I didn't have before so I'm looking forward to it. I'm gonna try and give it a year and if I don't like it, I'll just get locs again. I just started my loc journey again with two strand twists Friday and honestly I went through with it last time for only 4 months, but with coils. I just really started to miss my loose natural hair and I couldn't take it anymore so I combed my hair. Now that I look back I think why did I do that I could've been 2 years in with so much progress, lol. So of course I'm going to commit this time because I gave it more thought and having locs has a whole lot more pros than cons and loose natural hair has more cons than pros. Now my mind is set on "Why not just go for it?" I hate styling my own hair, I hate wash day, I don't like the high maintenance, I HATE detangling, and I don't like worrying about shedding or split ends. With locs I get to keep every bit of my hair and I never heard of anyone saying that they had to trim their split ends. Sorry for the long comment, but basically I'm just saying that I'm never going back and I understand how you feel. I have had loose natural hair all of my life so I'm use to having that kind of lifestyle and it feels odd to change, but as humans we grow and give things thought. You have never experienced loose natural hair and this is your chance to take it and I'm happy for you.

    That is normal. I had loose natural hair like yours for years and there was a period when I loced my hair that I had those same thoughts. Because locs when you are learning them is a lot of work trying to figure it out. But do you. If you miss, that’s fine. If you go back to them ok, if you don’t that’s ok. That’s what’s so great about us we are always able change, to evolve and elevate 😊

    Thank you for allowing me to live vicariously through you! I’m 9 years locked and type 4 hair just like yours. I’ve been itching to comb them out, but I know I won’t want to deal with my loose natural after awhile. Locs are literally wake up and go most days. But if you can stick with your loose hair until it grows you may love it even more. It’s another journey! Get some faux locks or long braids for awhile?

    My best advice to everyone. When you are young go whatever you want with your hair. Because it will always grow back. However once you start reaching menopause, you wish your hair will grow. (No hormones, no hair 😞

    U are too pretty! I loved your locs, u have nice hair anyways. I love the color. U can be bald u still fire. There is a time and place for everything....... we don’t stay in the same place forever. U want loose hair today, locs tomorrow it does not matter. Just be happy. U are allowed to change your mind as long as u keep that personality u are ok. Enjoy life.

    I agree u look better and more exotic with locs now u look regular. I feel the same way because when I cut my locs now I look basic and I’m sad about it too.

    I can relate to how you feel. I watched when you cut your locs . I was natural for 10 years and now I’m locing my hair and I feel like I didn’t allow enough time as a loose natural.
    You are beautiful burg ways. It is your hair. When you have got some more length and volume, you may feel differently. Either way, I think take your time to make your decision an enjoy the journey.

    I had my locs for 7 years. Traditional locs 85 to 90 locs. 4 years later I felt the same way so now I’m on my 2nd set with the 2 strand method. I have 45 locs but it’s still a full look. I wanted a thicker set.

    I'm here because I'm missing my locs too. And I'm thinking about my 2nd set... I'm going to try and make it with my loose hair until my would be 11th lociversary. I feel you completely.

    This sounds so much like me! I had traditional locs for 4 years and comb them out bc I wanted to see how my hair would be as a loose natural. ALL my friends were so displeased with my choice and gave me the same comments you received 😆
    Well, I did loose natural for 3 years and it was just not working for my 4c hair! I went through a phase of deciding to get locs again.. 9 months during year 3 specifically.
    On June 1, 2019, I got microlocs and I'm LOVING IT!
    At the end of the day its it's your and you do what's convenient for you! 😉

    It'll take time to get used to your loose hair it was 10years it's almost close to a break up, it takes time and I felt the same way sometime I still do and I've only been on this loc journey for two years but it takes time I miss my loose hair believe it or not my locs made me realise I should've appreciated my hair as much as I do now but this Tracy is not the Tracy loose hair I am learning to embrace this new version, so embrace this new Vanessa! it all growth and part of your journey

      Yes locs are the best and it is protective for the hair in low maintenance unsecured hair meaning not loc is a headache the worse it is high maintenance time consuming and the hair could be easily damaged and have breakage in your hair will never grow loc and secure in protect you hair at all times we will have a healthy loc Journey Channel up soon

      I just started my third set lol I wanted to see what my hair felt like loose now I'm over it .. I thought I wasnt pretty with locs then I went back to pics and was like you know what everyone is going to be like what see ..I told you but I don't care its hair I do what I want. I like the low maintenance and my hair grew the longest ever with locs so i started my own set. You look dope with either.

    I get it, 👈 this is an old pic. I have mid- back length locs 6 years old. I get it but at the end of the day, you are beautiful with or without locs. You rock you natural loose hair so well. Enjoy it and theres no pressure You can always return to the loc world whenever you feel. Be blessed with the fact that you can make these decisions with your hair gracefully knowing that it is a win - win with you being beautiful.

    Loose natural hair is a lot of work. And your hair is always subject to frizz-up in wet 💦 conditions (rain, sweat, humidity, swimming, etc). I think you lost a lot of freedom to not worry that your hair is changing every time there’s heat or rain🌧.

  • @jesspraise35

    I have been missing my lose natural hair. July it will be two years I would be loc'd this year. Then I think I will miss my loc's if I get rid of them. Some of us women don't know what we want at times. LOL Any way we can rock whatever style we choose. :)
