Oh Ray!! The Sophie scarf in Dream Catchers colorway is spectacular!!! It made me tear up when you held it up. My boy Dream Catcher is forever immortalized in yarn!!! He was such a beautiful horse. That made me very happy! I haven’t worked mine up yet so that was the first time seeing it worked up. ❤️
Hi guys! Kevin, I go even further regarding my stitch marker management : since red is the international navy convention for the port side, while green is the colour for the starboard side, I use red markers on the left raglans (portside) and green markers on the right raglans (starboard). That way, you always know very easily where are the front and the back of the sweater. And of course, I use only one color by sleeve to mark decreases… 😁😁😁
Ray, your book talks make librarians proud! and welcome to Outlander world, you will find yourself reading all of the books in the series. Thanks friends for another fun evening spent hanging out with you both and for the mention of our friendship 😊 my life has been richer for having met you both. Beijinhos 😘
I read the series many years ago and loved it! All of the original books are in the neighborhood of 900 plus pages. Fascinating telling of so many historical events.
Thanks for a great episode. Ray your sweater is perfection, the color on you looks so good and we can see that it’s a great fit. Kevin, can’t wait to see a trunk show. Cheers to a great fortnight.
We think it great that you both have the stamina to keep output weekly, as so many others are fall by the way side and vlog when they can be bothered to, great work!
Loving that sweater, Ray. I would like to make a sweater for my husband with that pattern. And Kevin's hanging staircase shawl is sooo beautiful. Ray, leather buttons or deer horn polished buttons are so in now.
I love the colour of your stitch markers- I use whatever I pick out of my tin. In some things I’m very OCD/ matchy matchy. But not in this. Great WIPs and FOs guys.
ps it’s the ex-teacher coming out! I really don’t mind one bit how you say it 😆 As usual, it’s so nice to watch your channel, and I went over and watched Olivia also :) @@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast
Such a fun podcast! I had the pleasure of visiting Espace Tricot in October when I visited family in Montreal and just finished the Garden cardigan in Bon Tricot Euphoria.
If you do fine an advent that is a fade, I would love to get one too! Ray the bare naked wool blanket you shared last year was the MOSt beautiful project I have ever seen. I tried to get the kit but they were sold out. Thanks for showing your yarn in samples
Just started knitting a chicken 🐔 🤣😂 through your enthusiasm you got me on board 😂 I have knit 2 gift knit Sophie scarves like you wanted to use all the yarn 4ply cotton alpaca silk from Peru in natural that had natural shading 👍 Maybe get round to doing myself on in pure silk ( lush )
I’m with Kevin stitch markers have to match, but need to be higher contrast than that orange 😂 That looks great, Rey! I really love the reverse marled effect.
'Hazel Eyes' 😂😂😂 I love your banter, guys❤❤❤. I also love your sweater Ray, although I still would like the third yarn on the sleeves. Your top half looks like u are wearing a tshirt. But it is how you like it, so I can just go and knit my black musselburgh and mind my own beeswax!😂😂😂😂
we were lucky enough to visit both Highclere Castle (in Hampshire) where much of the series was filmed as well as Bampton, which included Isobel's home and the church and graveyard. Love your sweater, Ray.
Hello fellow Ct residents. Happy spring. I’m also Ct (Bristol). Though it will be cold and yucky tomorrow but this too shall pass. You guys do a great job s keep it up 👍. Love ya 0:12
Oh my gosh! Brandon Sanderson is one of my favorite writers and “Mistborn” is AMAZING! He’s a prolific writer and his books just keep getting better. Enjoy! And happy knitting 💚🧶💚
I think a great color for your brown should be called classic teddy bear. It just reminds me of those teddy bears when I was a young girl that I drag around with me all the time and slept with.❤
Just a thought. I see the Icord around the blanket (I did make one of these blankets) as the frame around the pretty picture. But , hey, you do you. Love to the guys
The Icord is still there but instead of knitting it at the end, it's being knit during. And because I'm using the undyed yarn held with the mini, it will still add a nice frame around it 😉
Thanks for another great podcast. Your sweaters look great! Of all the college classes I have taken, my Art History class was one of my favorites and most memorable. Kevin your yarns are gorgeous.
For using your leftovers try the Ten Stitch blankets by Frankie Brown. There are several different ones and they are all free on Ravelry. They also work with any yarn weight.
@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast you're gonna love Outlander! I read the first 4 books almost 20 yrs ago. I knew they came out with the TV series, but never watched it because I didn't think they could find an actor to portray Jaime they way I had pictured him in my head, but I was wrong, so wrong lol. Just so you are forwarned,Outlander is considered soft porn for women
Your FO's are wonderful. That Classic Men's Sweater and the Changing Staircases Shawl! That chicken is a celebration of colors! Always love seeing your gorgeous dyed yarns. This Graham needs to think of something to knit with Graham Cracker! Best wishes for almost spring!
I have been binge watching all your previous episodes and finally caught up 😂 just want to say thank you, I love you guys and what you do, your podcast is exactly what I need when knitting, and you both have inspired me loads already ❤
Another great podcast. As I’m watching this podcast, I’m knitting a DK jelly roll blanket too, Kevin. Also when washing n drying plushies in machines, I put them in a pillow case. They come out looking great
Ray, your sweater is amazing. And Kevin, your colors are the best! You are sooooo ready to dye yarn for Stephen West’s fall MKAL….so ready. And I’m ready to preorder a kit from you…..hope you’ll seriously consider this. FYI, I bought a skein (rhubarb) way back when you first started….I’ve finally found the perfect 1 skein pattern to use it…..stay tuned 🥰🧶🥰
Hi Kevin and Ray, another enjoyable podcast. Loving your finished projects and WIPs too. Beautiful colours on your new yarn too. I have subscribed to Olivia. Have a wonderful weekend ❤❤❤ 1:47:59
Hi Kevin ,Ray and Skylar too🐦, Happy Saturday! Another enjoyable and inspiring episode! Beautiful sweater Ray! Great colors! Beautiful one skein shawl Kevin, I love "your" yarn!!!! Thanks for the info on the free pattern ! Happy Knitting!🧶 Happy St. Patrick's Day!☘️💚🍀💚
Kevin-I just have to tell you that I am making my first project with your yarn and I am beside myself with how beautiful the yarn, and the color are working with the pattern. It’s the Ysolda Teige Coracle Cowl. This Shady Pines Demeter DK is STUNNING. I’ve never wanted to use the exact same kind and color of yarn in another project before but I can’t wait to knit a sweater in this base/color. It’s simply gorgeous. Kudos!
I seamed up my first emotional support chicken and just flipped it inside out and used the crochet method. So much easier! I am so freaking stoked that you are reading Mistborn Kevin! Sanderson is one of my favorite all time authors! Mists of Avalon is one of my all time favorite books too and I love how changes for the reader every time you read it.
It is so lovely to be here!!! Corned beef and cabbage thing isn't a thing in Ireland so you are good! I now have my yarns so Clockwork here I come. Yes let's not speak of food unless....it's the international snacks....missing those! I am loving all the projects made and to come. Love your eye for color. Thanks guys, I broke the bank! I visited two of your favorite haunts! That pesky "more" button lol. I love my Thread Bags, beautiful bags. Omg I am like you. My light bulbs have to match too! I change color with markers if sections have differing executions. Have a great St. Patrick's Day!
Ray, besides checking measurements of your other garments you've knit when deciding the size of the Wild Horses, please take note of how wide the neck is at the shoulders on Wild Horses when considering size.
Sorry to hear about your basement water problems. After our whole neighborhood flooded, water was up past our knees in basement, we wound get water every time it rained. So, we caved and finally had a sump pump installed. No more water in basement. Loved the sweater finish. Beautiful colors on the dyed yarn.
I am working in my 1st Emotional Support Chicken and I love it! Super fun to knit and I love seeing it come together! My boyfriend is so tickled that i am making a chicken as he knows I eventually want to have some chickens and a chicken coop!
Hi Kevin and Ray, love your jumper Ray it looks so comfy and so neatly knitted. Think I will have to knit your shawl Kevin so nice . Ray my daughter gave me a felted sheep on Mothers Day it was so cute. In one hand it had a bunch of flowers , and under the other arm a heart. Just finished two jumpers for grandchildren. Now making my husband his socks, plus crocheting a blanket! Out for a Guinness tomorrow for St Patrick’s Day as my husband is Irish. Happy crafting, sorry I waffled a bit there 😂🤣🧶👍🏻
Yaaaaay it's the boys. I dont know why I giggle everytime youre on.😊 What is it about knitting. I finished my last lingering wip!! I crkebrated by castingbon two cable sweaters!🤯🤯🤯 Loved it gentlemen!
I got the crochet pattern last night for the emotional support chicken, thanks for mentioning it! No crochet kits for it yet, but I've got stash 😊 Ray your skin just glows in that color, love it. I'm loving all the dyed yarn y'all
I have knit my first chicken, I got the idea from you Kevin.my granddaughters boyfriend is about to start the fight of his life. He is 17 . He got the all clear 12 months ago, now has lung ca..I hope he takes it with him when he has his chemo. Doing one for my granddaughter. Started a 4 ply chicken. It is sooo cute.
After watching all these podcasters rave about their chickens, I finally caved and knit myself 2 emotional chickens myself. For my first, I did as recommended. My second, however, I used fingering weight yarn and US2 needles..... y'all.... I highly recommend. There is just something about the mini.
I never would have mentioned my stitch marker game, but since Kevin started it, I always choose a color that contrasts with the yarn. The most fun I've had with the markers was on a pair of socks I made alternating thick stripes of dark purple and teal, with teal markers on the purple yarn and purple markers on the teal yarn. I know it sounds kind of OCD, but I enjoyed looking at that WIP so much! Ray's sweater looks great, with or without traps and pecs. Or whatever. 🙂
Hi from Melbourne 👋 I haven't written for a while.. Ray, with your stitch gauge for the new cardigan that half a stitch will make a difference overall to the finished size of your cardi. So as Kevin said, measure your other favourites especially the other cardigan and then work out the maths for your gauge. Divide your gauge by 4" to get a per inch gauge, and then divide the total underarm stitches with your stitches per inch gauge. That will give you a more accurate size based on your gauge. Then you can compare that to the measurements of your other current favourite sweaters and cardigan. Also loving all the books you're both reading! I think I've mentioned Anne McCaffery before but not sure if her works are available on good reads. Another favourite is Barbara Erskine. - Lady Of Hay...written in a similar vein to The Mists of Avalon, and there are one or two others of hers the titles of which escape me for now. But I think you'd enjoy The Lady Of Hay. Good to see you both and catch up on all the shenanigans ❤ P.S. I forgot to mention that I've been watching Belgravia and Belgravia -The Next Chapter which I think you'd enjoy for the period and social history. The first written & produced by Julian Fellowes of Downton Abbey fame and the second he is also associated with. Both are good to sink your teeth into when you're finished watching Downton 😊
Hi, When I made the emotional support chicken I crocheted the joins together in the came contrast colour as the tail (I don't enjoy sewing the seams either) thanks for a great podcast - as always.
Another fun episode, guys😊 I recently finished one of Susan B Anderson’s little animals and she said to soak it as you do sweaters and to lay to dry. Worked great!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Outlander. Also... Downton. Now I want to watch it all again ❤️😭❤️ I also like to blame you both for my current TJ Klune obsesssion. Currently on my 6th book of his (the 3rd in the wolfsong series) and I'm an emotional mess. Your recommendations are to blame 😂
Hi guys!!! Its "roy-bows"!!! 😂🤣😂 African tea. 😋 Everyone overthinks it!! I'd LOVE to knit samples for you!! (I do do samples for another dyer!! Im paid in yarn. 🥰) I finished my chicken, FrankHENstein, I posted on your page, I've mailed her off to my bff who had a stroke, I figured it was better than a damnit doll.... And MUCH cuter!! Yes....polyfilll goes back to shape.... you can put it in a "low" dryer with a wet towel & it cleans and fluffs... I do that with my throw pillows that I can't wash all the time (it removes fur too, my cats LOVE pillows). And nice free pattern is the "pebble shawlette", one skein wonder!! Have an awesome fortnight!
Hi, from Oregon, guys! Doing great today now that you’re here, and Ray, love your sweater and your gorgeous chicken! Kevin, I’m planning on casting on that Jelly Roll blanket this coming week. I have lots of odds and ends and I inherited my daughter’s mini skeins a while ago. I’m excited to get going on a new project! Thanks for sharing. ❤❤❤
I tighten up holes as I knit. Analyze your fabric as you knit, if you see a stitch that looks loosey goosey or will result in a hole go in behind your work and pull up whatever thread/s will tighten the hole, put it on your needle and knit it together with the next stitch you are about to knit. Nobody looks at the inside of the item and the item looks perfect outside. I “McGivor” my knitting all the time because I can’t handle holes or gaping stitches. I am a tight knitter with very neat perfect stitches so any stitch off size sticks out like a sore thumb to my self hyper critical eyes.
Great episode Kevin and Ray... basement floods Are the worst...we had septic back up once...Eeew.🤢 I do the opposite Kevin, I use contrasting colour to my sweater so I make sure I get all the markers out before I wash and block, but I do try and use same colour markers for increases/decreases. Beautifull sweater Ray...love the colour blocking.🥰🇨🇦 Sharon
Yes there are still Butlers in the UK. There is a college at the end of my road with The Yarrow Hotel next door. The Butlers train at the college, then they practice next door, with special Butlers lunches that you can book to go to. Haven't managed to go yet though 😢
Ha Ha stitch markers, all the same color and matching the yarn color would make me absolutely crazy 🤪 We are all so different but get the same result - gorgeous garments 😊
My experience has been that tossing amigurumi in my dryer - low/delicate cycle for like 5 min increments, usually restores the fluffiness. I prefer to spot clean & air dry when possible. Also, a handheld steamer & shaking during a light steam can help, too. If any “odd” odor occurs in the yarn/wool, fabric refresher spray works fantastic! I hope the basement stuff gets resolved quickly! Been there; it’s NOT fun. Can’t believe it’s been a fortnight already! Great to see y’all and another terrific episode! Your projects are always just BEAUTIFUL! I can’t wait try some of Kevin’s yarn SOON. I also looooove the book talk! I’m a pal on Goodreads as I, too, love to read! 📚 ☺️🫶🏻🧶 hugs from the OH!
I meant to say something before but your tea color is pronounced “Roy bus”. It’s a barky bitter flavor to me. As for washing and shaping amigarumis, I wash them in a plain white cotton pillow case and then throw them in a regular dryer. Now mine are acrylic yarn. If you have wool in yours I might dry them on a low setting. Polyfil loves a good dryer.
As you mentioned Brandon Sanderson, I have an epic series recommendation for you! My very favorite author, Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time is an epic 15 books long (including the prequel), the shortest of which is 786 pages or something. None of my friends could hang that long, but I adore the series. Brandon Sanderson wrote the last several in the series using Jordan's notes after Robert Jordan sadly passed. But there's no greater series out there. It even knocked Tolkien out of my number 1 author spot. Just try a few. There's all manner of evil beings, magic, legends, mythos, a world run by female mages and male ones are killed or "stilled" (their magic is taken from them). There's good versus evil, the requisite prophesied "ONE", and three main characters with their own story arcs. It's seriously such a good series. :)
I found your comment about saving podcasts quite interesting. I don’t keep any of my podcasts because I felt they were on TH-cam permanently & I didn’t want to use up storage space on my iPad. So after I upload my video for the week I delete it from my device. Maybe I shouldn’t have??
We did the same thing. However, if our accounts are ever hacked, the hackers could delete all of the videos on TH-cam with no chance at recovery. Unfortunately, this happened to someone we used to watch and they weren't able to recover any of the videos. 🥹
The tea is pronounced ROY-BUS it's an Herbal tea from Africa. It is naturally caffeine free and full of antioxidants as well as other health benefits. I highly recommend trying it.
Your Art History class sounds very similar to my Architecture History courses that I took in Architecture school. It was fascinating learning about the meaning behind the forms they built and a lot was related to religion.
Ray I don't like spit & splice either. I find it disgusting lol. I use water or tea or even coffee (black) if my yarn is really dark. I like how Kevin laughs when Ray says he's gonna try to take a break from buying yarn for other projects haha 🤣
I finished a fingering weight Jelly Roll in Jan (took over 2 years), started a DK with DK leftovers, and I am planning on another fingering weight one that I just use leftover self-striping for.
It was an absolute pleasure! Sending you lots of warmth and hugs 🤗

Guilty! Yes I have to have match-y match-y lightbulbs marching down my projects too. And! they hall have to be in the same column of stitches LOL.
Yes, same column as well, nice and tidy. 😊
Loving that sweater, Ray. I would like to make a sweater for my husband with that pattern. And Kevin's hanging staircase shawl is sooo beautiful.

Happy crafting, sorry I waffled a bit there 😂🤣🧶👍🏻
Wow, what amazing projects you have going!! How fun! And how cute that felted sheep sounds!!! Love it! 🥰
Yaaaaay it's the boys. I dont know why I giggle everytime youre on.😊 What is it about knitting. I finished my last lingering wip!! I crkebrated by castingbon two cable sweaters!🤯🤯🤯 Loved it gentlemen!
Yay, love a good cabled sweater.
I got the crochet pattern last night for the emotional support chicken, thanks for mentioning it! No crochet kits for it yet, but I've got stash 😊 Ray your skin just glows in that color, love it. I'm loving all the dyed yarn y'all
yay!! I can't wait to see the crochet version!!!
The side hand wink talking about purchase’s and sample knitting literally made me spit my coffee out! 🤣🤣🤣🤣so funny
LOL 😂
I have knit my first chicken, I got the idea from you Kevin.my granddaughters boyfriend is about to start the fight of his life. He is 17 . He got the all clear 12 months ago, now has lung ca..I hope he takes it with him when he has his chemo. Doing one for my granddaughter. Started a 4 ply chicken. It is sooo cute.
So sorry to hear about your granddaughter boyfriend. We are sure they will love the chickens.
After watching all these podcasters rave about their chickens, I finally caved and knit myself 2 emotional chickens myself. For my first, I did as recommended. My second, however, I used fingering weight yarn and US2 needles..... y'all.... I highly recommend. There is just something about the mini.
We definitely want to try an make a mini one.
Gotta have fun with the stitch markers too.
Good to see you both and catch up on all the shenanigans ❤
Thank you for the book suggestions and tv suggestion.
Hi, When I made the emotional support chicken I crocheted the joins together in the came contrast colour as the tail (I don't enjoy sewing the seams either) thanks for a great podcast - as always.
That is a good idea, might have to try that on the next one.
YEAH!!!!! Been checking all day waiting on you gentlemen! ❤️🎉😊
Another fun episode, guys😊 I recently finished one of Susan B Anderson’s little animals and she said to soak it as you do sweaters and to lay to dry. Worked great!
That is really good to know, it really makes sense, even to just remove the oils from our hands.
Good morning Kevin and Ray Love sweater nice colour thinking of doing one myself enjoyable postcast
Awesome! The color was a little outside my comfort zone at first but I absolutely love it 🥰
I love Davina Porter’s narration also! Fabulous!
Beakonce' is cluckin' terrific 💯! And Kevin, love your shark in the iron throne!
Thank you Chrissy.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Outlander. Also... Downton. Now I want to watch it all again ❤️😭❤️
I also like to blame you both for my current TJ Klune obsesssion. Currently on my 6th book of his (the 3rd in the wolfsong series) and I'm an emotional mess. Your recommendations are to blame 😂
Oh gosh, love that Green Creek series, really haven't read a book of his that I haven't enjoyed.
Sophie scarf is on my list! Love it!!
It's been a really meditative knit so far ☺️
Love the iron mountain yarn!
Hi guys!!!
Its "roy-bows"!!! 😂🤣😂 African tea. 😋
Everyone overthinks it!!
I'd LOVE to knit samples for you!! (I do do samples for another dyer!! Im paid in yarn. 🥰)
I finished my chicken, FrankHENstein, I posted on your page, I've mailed her off to my bff who had a stroke, I figured it was better than a damnit doll....
Wow, thanks so much for all of your wonderful comments! Great tip about the dryer and wet towel! We'll definitely try that, thanks so much 🥰
Hi, from Oregon, guys! ❤❤❤
Awesome! Thank you! It's so exciting getting to start a new project!! Cant wait to see what you come up with
I tighten up holes as I knit.
Ray-liked the color changes where you made the changes!
Thanks so much 🥰
Great episode Kevin and Ray... basement floods Are the worst...we had septic back up once...Eeew.🤢
I do the opposite Kevin, I use contrasting colour to my sweater so I make sure I get all the markers out before I wash and block, but I do try and use same colour markers for increases/decreases. Beautifull sweater Ray...love the colour blocking.🥰🇨🇦 Sharon
Thank you Sharon.
Yes there are still Butlers in the UK. There is a college at the end of my road with The Yarrow Hotel next door. The Butlers train at the college, then they practice next door, with special Butlers lunches that you can book to go to. Haven't managed to go yet though 😢
Thanks for sharing, that is really interesting that there is a school to train butlers.
Just remembered you have the Orchid color so Violet would be cool.
Ha Ha stitch markers, all the same color and matching the yarn color would make me absolutely crazy 🤪 We are all so different but get the same result - gorgeous garments 😊
Right?! That's what makes it so fun!! 🥰
Thank you for the tip, will definitely give the dryer a try.
Knitting with Bare Naked Wools (better breakfast worsted) as I watch. Love Love Love it!
It's sooo good! I just started the hem of my cardigan and it's just awesome 🤩
Thoroughly enjoyed this podcast and loved the book reviews ❤
Yay, so happy you enjoyed it 😉
Awe so cute😂 love ❤ you guys I wanna see some pastel knits for spring !🟠🟡🟢🟣⚪️💠
We're not really pastel guys but you never know 🥰
The stitch markers cracked me up. Mine have to contrast with my projects, so I can see yhem.
Gotta have fun with stitch markers too.
Thank you for the tip Cheryl.
Great episode 😀 The new brown yarn reminds me of a Gingerbread cookies.
It does!
Hello Kevin and Ray, from Swansea, Illinois.
Hiya! Hope you have a great fortnight!😉
That series is definitely in my queue of books to read.
LOL, Ray! I saw you and your chicken whispering sweet nothings to each other. 🥰
LOL 😂
Thank you Marcus, we definitely need to give it a try.
Red tea - roy-boss My favorite, non-caffeinated tea.
I’m on my 5th emotional support chicken, I’ve got about four more to go. It’s very beginner friendly.
Wow 9 chickens!! Nice little flock you got going on lol 🤣
Your Art History class sounds very similar to my Architecture History courses that I took in Architecture school. It was fascinating learning about the meaning behind the forms they built and a lot was related to religion.
It really was, so fun learning about all of it.
Ray I don't like spit & splice either. I find it disgusting lol. I use water or tea or even coffee (black) if my yarn is really dark.
I like how Kevin laughs when Ray says he's gonna try to take a break from buying yarn for other projects haha 🤣
LOL 😂
I finished a fingering weight Jelly Roll in Jan (took over 2 years), started a DK with DK leftovers, and I am planning on another fingering weight one that I just use leftover self-striping for.
It really is a fun knit, good tv knitting.
Pattern has been updated to include DK yarn for those who don’t want to hold fingering double. 😊❤
