Kevin and Ray, thanks so much for showing our cone winder. We really appreciate it. We’re so glad you enjoying using it.
We love it!! Can’t believe it took so long to try it!! So sorry for the delay 😞 But it’s an absolute game changer!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast That’s great to hear.
Hi Kevin and Ray. Just watching your lovely programme which I look forward to every couple of weeks. I really can’t believe that you parakeet annoyed some of your watchers. It’s the most beautiful sound in the world. I for one will miss hearing him in the back ground bless him 😘😘😘
Aww thanks so much. I think it might have been the music we had playing for him in the background. For some I guess it was too loud. But that's OK, we love hearing him whistle and talk all day long 🥰
Kevin you ROCK that color!!!
Thank you!! I'm beyond happy with how it turned out 😀
kevin, your sweater color is PERFECT for you!! bravo!! 👏🏻
Thank you Kristi!
I was amused to see the look of surprise on Ray's face at the news that Kevin took a walk, outdoors. 😂
Haha, I was shocked because we usually take our walks together lol but good for him...hahaha 🤣
Thanks for promoting Portland Leather! I have the luxury of driving over and shopping at their factory store (or strolling over from my son’s house). I have two different bags I use as purses and I love both. Another Portland bag designer is Heidi West Designs. Heidi designs her fabric, does her own screen printing and then sews the bags. The bags are so well made, very sturdy.
Debbie ... I, too, was delighted w/ their PL mention and was able to take advantage of PL's recent most excellent sale.
We love the bags we got from them, wish they still carried them.
My husband works from home and I totally get Ray’s look of betrayal when Kevin walked without him. 😂
LOL
I started knitting only a few months ago and Kevin and Ray are the BEST duo to knit along to. 😊 You guys give me so many ideas and inspirations, and you make me feel as though my WIPs are exciting journeys rather than impatient finish lines. I'm working on an alternating color drawstring bag right now and I've been cherishing each color and stitch. I named it "Bag at the Ready" since I've been exclusively knitting it as I absorb your bubbly and endearing personalities. ❤ You two knit my socks off! 🧶
That is awesome! LOL absolutely LOVE the name of your bag, hahaha 🤣. Seriously though, thank you. Your comments are so sweet and we just love being able to do this and "hang out" with you all 🥰
Kevin. your sweater took my breath away. That color is stunning on you. Hi Ray
Hi 👋 and thank you so much ❤️❤️
I am sooo excited- I BO my Glittering Snowscape shawl while watching this episode. Thank you so much for offering the Kit-AL. I had your deadline, and this is the first Stephen West kit I’ve actually finished in less than 6 months. LOL!
And yes, Ray, work definitely interferes with my knitting too!
I think that could be a T shirt 😂 'working interrupts my knitting time' or similar ❤
lol darn work!! But I guess it’s the reason we can’t support our craft lol 😂
The color of your sweater looks great on you Kevin.
Oh thank you! 😊
In my reading, I switch between various genres because I can't take too much of the same thing over and over. Between fantasy, thriller, post apocalyptic, crime fiction, and cozy supernatural mystery.
Hope you had a great Easter weekend!
Agree, sometimes we just need a break from one genre.
Oh my goodness!! I got my yarn in color ink in BFL. It is sooo beautiful! The color is so great and I love the way it knits up.☄️
Aww thank you so much for ordering from us, so happy that you are happy with the order.
Wow - that color is beautiful on you Kevin!!
Oh thank you! I couldn’t say no when I saw it
The Knitpicks Felici yarn is Time Traveler. 😂😂😂 Cast on a scrappy blanket Ray! 🤣
Thank you, we knew you would know.
Looking forward to seeing the new sweaters! Love your latest FO, Kevin
Thank you Donna!
I had the pleasure of meeting the makers of Threads and Company bags in Nashville a couple of weeks ago and I’m in LOVE with my bag.
He was lovely and so patient with me. (I couldn’t decide on which bag to pick, wanted them all). ❤
Yay, so happy to hear you were able to see them in person. We really love his bags.
Ray, watching you show off your cardigan WIP made me wonder what happened to the cardigan you were knitting for your dad? I feel like it has been a while since you have mentioned it, unless I missed something.
Kevin, your sweater is beautiful. The color is great on you.
Yes he needs to finish the cardigan for his patient dad 😂
😂@@crochetingaroundnewzealand
It’s in time out lol 😂
Just purchased some of your yarn, I can’t wait to add to my queue for a summer tee🥰🧶
Aww thank you so much Joyce!
Great episode, thanks! A tip for colorwork flat knitting for your bulky cardigan - check out Portuguese style, where you wrap the yarn around your neck. Sounds crazy but it worked for me and it was easy. I do colorwork holding yarn in each hand and the purl side was difficult until I tried this technique. I am making the Artus shawl and there were small sections of colorwork before the mosaic section. Happy knitting!
Thank you for the tip, will definitely check out that method.
Your FOs are amazing. NATR podcasts always make a weekend better. Just bought myself a few skeins of Kevin's yarn as a treat for landing a dream job- working weekends at Skein Yarn Shop! On that note- If you make Justine's head any bigger, we're never going to hear the end of it. 😂 Thanks for always being a mental health boost! Hope to see you guys at the shop soon!
lol 😂 OMG dream job is right!!!! So jealous ❤️
Ott lights have the same wavelengths as the sun. Shows up the colors perfectly
Great suggestion!! We had no idea!! Thank you 😊
Always a joy to watch your podcast! Ray, I love that you don't know where the insta bookmarks go either! Also, Nebraska girl here, love that Lamb's Pride is representing our great state! "Nebraska, it's not for everyone!" (This is an actual state motto 😂)
Thank you Casey!
THANK YOU KEVIN AND RAY I LOVE TO WATCH YOUR EPISODES LOVE YOU WORKS
Thank you Lilian!!
The cone winder is so cool! I never thought of those being a thing. Great episode, was nice to spend time with you both 😊
It has been really handy for using with the sock machine.
Having made socks out of it, I"m pretty sure that's the Time Traveler colorway of Felici. They've released it a couple times because it was so popular.
Kevin, I love your sweater, it looks great on you. Ray, I've been listening to the Mists of Avalon based on your recommendation. I finished book one while on a road trip last week, and I'm now listening to book two.
This is my thought too. I have a bunch of time traveler and I definitely think it’s that one. Colored after the doctor who scarf.
YES, you are absolutely right!! Great eye, it is Time Traveler!! I haven't read the second one yet. Please let me know how you like it...
Wow so cool this cone winder !! I just finished making a cast on bonnet, i can't wait to try it. Your tubes are great ! Your cardigan will be stunning. Thanks guys, still a good moment to spend with you.
Thank you 😊
Great job guys with the sweater and sock. I can’t wait to see your sweaters with the beautiful colors you chose. ❤
Thank you 😊
Loved spending time with you today! ❤❤❤
Hi friend!! Thanks so much, we love getting chance to spend time with you too 🥰
Happy Easter guys. Lovely to see you here. Now I can sit and hear what you have been doing these last two weeks. Love your jumper Kevin. 🐰❤️
Thank you so much!! Happy Easter 🐰🐇🐣
Keep up the knitting in bright colors!
Thank you, so happy with the color of the sweater.
Happy Easter fellas!! Great episode! ❤️❤️
Happy Easter 🐰🐇🐣
Hi, guys. I looked for you earlier today but you were not there. So I figured you would be there tomorrow. I got a couple of notifications on my IPAD that I ignored because we were at dinner. I came back and checked and found you four hours past your podcasting! I’m thankful for replays! I’m alternating knitting on 2 projects, my top-down cardigan in Kevin’s Druid’s Grove yarn and I’m 12” into the first row of my Jelly Roll blanket. The blanket is for myself and it will travel across the country with me. Our second great grandchild arrived this week so we’re going to the mid-west to meet her! I’m excited! Thanks for your podcast. I needed to laugh and smile today and you helped! HAPPY EASTER ❤🐣❤
Oh wow, congrats on the little one! That's so exciting!! Please give them lots of cuddles from us!! 🥰
Will do, and with great happiness.
Happy Easter. I use sock tubes for socks I have 6 family members plus their partners. So lots of socks.
I have found if I use a contrasting or tonal sock yarn for each tube foot the cuffs heels and toes I can make one pair of knee socks, or 2 pairs os calf length, or four pairs of shortie socks from a 100g skein of yarn.
It is a great way to get the most out of your yarn. It eliminates the need to unravel the tube to knit cuffs,,ribs and toes
Yes, absolutely great idea!! We have a ton of minis to choose from for the contrasting heels, cuffs and toes. Definitely beats unraveling when we dont have to 🥰
Loving Ray's sauce!😂 Along with all the knitty goodness, of course x❤x
Hahahah, thanks. We had a lot of fun 🥰🤣
Love, loved everything. It's the busy time as far as baking for Tomorrow. Refrigerator rolls chilling out for baking Tomorrow. Ham ready to go in oven and I'll make the banana pudding in the morning. I between I'll catch a few rows here and there. Happy holiday gents. Thank you for all you do.❤❤❤
Mmmm love banana pudding!!! Soooo yummy 😋
Okay, I’m so inspired now to get back to my Geogradient shawl, Michael! It’s happening. Yours looks great!❤ Also your sweater and that Myak color way is EVERYTHING!!! ❤️🔥
Thank you so much! Definitely give the shawl another go, it has been fun to work on it again.
I own a Erlbacher Speedster too. I highly recommend at the bottom of the cast on bonnet to leave a long thread and make a crochet chain to make a loop at the bottom to hang your weights instead of using the buckle. It makes it so much easier to manage your weights.
That's a great tip, we will have to give it a try.
You two guys are always entertaining but this episode was THE BEST! Kevin your sweater is so good…color fit style…all just great! Ray the fact that you are cranking out so many samples of Kevin’s yarn is wonderful…such support that speaks LOVE! The best was the funny banter you have with one another! I love it! Enjoy your time in Vermont! Do they have bird sitters? Just wondering!
Thank you Pam! We had family come and spend time with the bird each day.
Hey guys 👋
Great to catch up with you again.
Kevin, that sweater is fantastic on you!❤️ Ryan, you have been busy on the sock machine. That's awesome!
It's always good to hear about your current books and tv too. I'm currently watching (and thoroughly enjoying) Mary & George - based on King James' court and all its machinations of the early 1600's. Shogun, which is brilliant and another historical series. And Tokyo Vice which is based on a newspaper writer based in Tokyo, police corruption and the huge influence of Yakuza in the 1990's ....all very entertaining and interesting. Law and Order (and the off shoots) has always been a favourite, as is Blue Bloods and I also don't mind Chicago PD/Fire and Med for good procedural type shows if you like that kind of thing.
Catch you next time ❤
Thank you Kim! Mary and George is definitely on our list of shows to watch, Shogun too.
((🔔)) My new favorite podcast! You two are a gem. I've binged so many episodes this past week. I feel like we've become fast friends. 😊 Kevin you are a clever sweetheart, and Ray you are a splendid goofball. 😂
Wow, thank you, again! Haha I'll take splendid goofball any day! 🤣
LisaR- Not sure if you guys know , but the biggest Legoland and resort opened a couple of years ago in Goshen Ny .. It's about an hour from Rhinebeck . In Orange County ;) ❤
Love that you're making projects with your own yarns ! It's great to see sample swatches also - makes it much easier to shop ❤
We might have to go check that out.
Yeah, giving a brand new knitter the idea that a scarf is a good project makes me shiver. 10” of fun, 60” of boring torture. Start with something in garter that can be finished in a week or so. Pot holders in big fat bulky pure wool come to mind. I won’t knit a scarf to this day, 60 years after I learned to cast on….❤🎉❤
Agreed, scarves are a no-no in this household...lol though socks were one of my first knitted projects so go figure, I guess lol 🤣
For the tubular cast on, the stitches are mounted differently on the first round. Purls are correct and knits should be backwards. There is also a way to do it was a provisional cast on (I recommend the crochet setup, but you can also long tail) and that will avoid any confusion. Enjoying the garment discussion. Thanks!
Hey thanks for that. Completely forgot about the crotchet technique. I used to use that one all the time, can't believe we forgot about it, lol. And yes, that first row is important to understand the orientation of the stitches. Definitely confused me at first. Thanks so much 🥰
The banter this episode had me rolling. 😂
🤣
I like my stitch markers to match too!
Funny about the Jcrew roll neck sweater. I was just talking about those because I make mini versions of those for every baby gift. They’re so cute in a mini version
Omg I bet they are adorable 🥰
Hi Kevin , Ray and Skylar🐦,
thanks for another enjoyable and inspiring episode!😊 Kevin, Your sweater is beautiful! Wonderful color on you! Hope to meet you both someday when you visit Yarnia (great yarn store!!!).
Can't wait to see all your new color yarn coming soon!
Happy Knitting 🧶! Happy Easter 🐇✝️!
Our pleasure! Thanks so much for hanging out with us 😀
Nice tubes Ray! I am in the tube jam right with you! I hear you with your reading/MBA. I did my MBA too and it was probably 2 years after before I wanted to pick up and read a book- might have been also because raising toddlers at the time but thank goodness for knitting!
OMG for sure!! I really dont know how all of the parents do school on top of everything. I have such respect for you all!
Ray for the Fair Isle sweater - you could learn how to knit backwards that would help on the flat part and you could practice on a dishcloth
Thank you for the suggestion, I'll need to look into that.
Love that Ray watches scary movies in the day. Happy Easter.
LOL Ray has a history of screaming during scary movies....haha 🤣
Happy Easter! Had to pause the video to go purchase the Small Fry Scarf! Now to find pretty yarn to cast on!
Aww yay!! Hope you love the pattern!! Happy Easter to you too! 🥰
Happy Easter guys, lovely podcast and loving the new yarn. Have a lovely day ❤❤❤
Aww thanks so much!! Happy Easter to you too!!
Thank you!
Hi Kevin and Ray! I have a Dean and Bean sock machine, and I totally understand how soothing it is to crank tubes! I have a basket of yarn that is just waiting for me as soon as I finish the socks already cranked LOL Your projects are such an inspiration to me. Kevin that sweater is amazing. If I didn't have about 10 sweaters in my queue, I'd definitely try the Tibetan Cloud. Wish list for next year!😉 Ray - Great idea to crank a tube for each of the samples. Really shows the colorways to advantage.
Isn’t it so relaxing?! Thanks so much for hanging out with us 😊😊
Lambs Pride comes from my state! It is great yarn and wears really good. It also felts very good if you want that! I have been to the mill.
We are really excited to start working with it.
I haven’t even watched the full episode but had to stop it to tell you I am so excited to win one of the cowl patterns! Thank you so much !
Yay, so happy you won.
Just watched your latest podcast and love your banter. But when Ray said, "I should quit my job." in reference to not having enough time to knit, do you know how many times I have said that over the last 45 years? Well, I finally retired and let me say I have a gone hog wild with projects, meet ups, traveling to yarn events, etc. It is sooo good to be able to knit when and what I want, so let me say, "Patience, you will get there, and it will happen sooner than you think." Yarn is a harmless, but indulgent addiction. Glad to engage online and in person at my LYS with people who share the same passion.
That is awesome that you have been enjoying your retirement!
Love you guys and your stories.
Aww thanks so much 🥰
Always enjoy you guys. Look forward to the podcasts
Thanks so much for joining us 😊❤️
About Legos, I am very much drawn to the flowers! They are so pretty!
They have so many cool sets now.
You both are always so entertaining. Love all your FO's and can't wait to see that cardigan Ray and the sweater jacket you are both making!
Thanks so much!! Lots of really fun things planned for the needles 😊
I’m so glad you loved the birds, they look great on your shelf! My husband and I just finished the Lego Vespa! ❤
Yay! Thank you so much!! It was sooo fun to put together ❤️❤️❤️
PERFECT! Love the color.
Thank you! Cheers!
Hearing you guys talk about Taylor (#wnhmademedoit) is as exciting as Fonzi showing up at Laverne and Shirley’s apartment!
She's one of our favs! We'd love to hang out with her one day ☺️
Happy Easter! Your FOs are beautiful. Have a great trip
Thank you so much!! Happy Easter to you too!!
I don’t know where the videos go once saved either! lol
Love all the yarns today and Kevin’s sweater is perfect.. great color!
Oh thank you! 😊
Kevin your finished sweater is stunning! Nice job🧶
Thank you so much Barb!
You can set up a light box for photographing your yarn. The colors will be as true as you can get.
Another great podcast ! Enjoy your trip and stay safe😊
Thank you! Will do! 😊❤️❤️
Happy Easter and have a safe trip to Vermont.
Thank you so much!! Happy Easter to you too!!
Wow Kevin your flame sweater is so beautiful looks super on you the colour is a spring uplifting colour
Ray I save & can’t find out where the savings are you made me laugh out loud 🤣😂
Now Ray prioritise Dads cardigan though I have to say that cardigan yarn looks like vanilla cream GORGEOUS
Thank you Sue, I am really happy with how the sweater turned out.
Ray, I did the same thing with my Sophie Scarf. Was quite pleased with the outcome. 🤗
Yay 😀 I’m really happy too 😊❤️❤️
Hello Kevin and Ray, from Swansea, Illinois.
Hi Janet, Hope you are doing well.
I know you will appreciate my excitement so I had to share I’m learning needle felting from Going Gnome at the Loveland CO Makers Fest next week🎉🎉. I live nearby and jumped at the chance to get a dragon hatchling kit and lesson!
Yay!! Hope you enjoyed the class with them.
It was so fun!!
Happy Easter to you and your family.
Thanks so much, Happy Easter to you and yours too!
I just finished a free pattern called "the simple thing" by Melina Brell, very similar to the Sophie Scarf...Love it!.
Great sweater Kevin! Love the colour. Thanks for the episode Kevin and Ray!🥰🇨🇦Sharon.
I'll check it out! Thanks so much
I’m working on the Small Fry right now and love it!
Sounds great! It’s definitely going to be a VERY soon cast on 😊
Omgosh I'm so jealous of the cone winder!! I have a ton of 1 ply yarns from when I machine knit lace shawls. I want to put them on more cones so I can hand knit several plys together. Another great episode! Love your Jersey kevin but please don't sneeze snot into it.... tissues in a box on your table is better 😂 love the scarves/shawls you finished Ray.
Thanks so much!! The cone winder was a total game changer for us!!
Ott lights work well for indoor sunlight. Ray, what is your goal in taking all your classes. Are you going for management?
Ray is currently a manager, he is going for his MBA to continue moving up.
I remember growing up watching the original Godzilla movies in the 70s.
Ohhh fun!! It might be neat for us to go back and watch some of the classics!
An Ott-Lite is really good for natural light indoors.
Love this suggestion!! Thank you 😊
Your yarns are stunning!!!
Aww thank you so much 😊
Kevin if you like Patty Lyons tips you really should try one of her video patterns - I highly recommend her Affiknity sweater video class - it has a high price because it is a workshop with videos in it!
I will check that out, thank you for the recommendation.
Yay!!!!
I got my In-N-Out, got my drink knitting ready, I'm ready!!!
I got my clockwork done, will probably make another after the Romi Hill MKAL. I got a little gartered out. 😉
LOVE Scott and John!! They're the OG's that got me started on the whole podcast rabbit hole!! 🤣😂
Another perfect one skein wonder is the "pebble shawlette", it has enough texture to keep you interested...I knit both of mine slightly larger so I had no leftovers. Just a few extra rows.
Kevin, you've shamed me!!! I haven't touched my geogradient in months (I put it in it's box and slid it under the couch. 🤫) I think I'm a tad farther than you, it just doesn't keep my interest. 🙁 I think it's all the ends, & I even weave them as I go.
How funny!! You're watching 9-1-1, I lived it!! 😉
Well, have an amazing fortnight!!
Oh wow, that pebble shawlette is super cute! And you are so right about the ends....wow, it's a TON lol 🤪
Kevin, that sweater is amazing, the color looks great. If you haven't yet, have a look at The Gilded Age - thoroughly enjoyed it
I'll check it out! Thanks so much
Thans you so much❤️❤️
Aww you're so welcome! Thanks for hanging out with us!
Hello...Hoppy Easter! I went back to work on the 21st...had a field trip this past Wednesday to the Science Center in Hartford...and spending this weekend sick! In hindsight, since I am immuno-compromised, I should have worn a mask. I haven't been around people, let alone little germ monsters in almost three months...oh well...live and learn...I only finished one kit....started the Highland cow one, but didn't finish it.....
Oh wow! Hope you feel better soon!! Also love the pun lol. Hoppy Easter 🐣
A very happy easter to both of u from alberta, canada
Happy Easter 🐰🐣🐇
Fine podcast, as always. I looked up the audio version of "Mistborn: The Final Empire" at the library. It must be good; they have 10 copies, all are taken and there are 34 people waiting. Now 35. Another thing: I didn't catch the name of the movie that made you both cry so much. I haven't sobbed at a movie since "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".
Oh, it was actually the season 4 finale of Downton Abby...lol that damn show gets us 🤪
Happy Easter Boyz 🐣
Happy Easter 🐰🐣🐇
Beautiful yarns Kevin❣️
Thank you 😊
Ray! When you mentioned that you're itching for some Brioche and want to use Kevin's yarn I had to comment! I just finished Stephen West's Striation Valley shawl that has fun Brioche in it. (Umm, no it doesn't! I'm an idiot, but it's still a really fun pattern!🤦♀️)It was a great pattern. AND I used all Kevin's yarn for it. It's stunning! I wish I could send you a photo of it!
Thank you for the pattern suggestion and for supporting our shop, we really appreciate it. If you would like to send a photo you can send it to needlesatthereadypodcast@gmail.com
I need a t-shirt in that emeraldy green that came with that self-striping club! 😍
I also prefer to watch scary things in the daylight. Especially if i want to sleep.
Gorgeous blanket Kevin ., lapse the shady pines also
Thanks 😊
Lovely shawl. I like that! I'd say s'mores for sure! I always get granny vibes from the way past when I think of shawls. I like this one being more scarf like. Do a trunk show ar CeCes! I could finally meet you! Tsk tsk to the anti bird lovers. How can you not love hearing their lovely rejoicing songs! Some years I used to knit my preschoolers snake scarves for Christmas gifts. You could make them for your littles! My kids loved them but alas I didn't have a machine to make them. Lol the skinny scarf brought back a memory. You may be too young but The Little Rascals had an episode and they faked a toothache to get out of going to school. Tie it on top of your head and you can get out of doing things. I think the teacher bought the children frozen treats and they almost missed out! Did you know it is a nice idea to leave yarn scraps outside for the birds to use in their nests? Just saying! Enjoy your Easter!
OMG!!! I totally remember that episode!!! We definitely used to watch them as kids with my dad. My favorite was the one with Chubsy Wubsy trying to woo the teacher on Valentine's Day..lol
I thought you were too young!!! The Rascals,Three Stooges, I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners to name a few, now that was tv!
I meant to ask you if you knew about Junction Fiber Mills in White River Junction Vermont. They are also on TH-cam. Since you are going to be in Vermont………….
Great episode, as always! Kevin, your sweater is spectacular! You can definitely rock the brighter colors. Will you guys be coming to Maryland Sheep and Wool this year? Hope so!
No unfortunately not this year 🥲 hopefully next year
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast aww, will miss running into you everywhere! Maybe next year!
Yippe I heard my name and I guess I won the bobble pattern. Sent you an email. Love your podcast and thank you
Yay! Thank you! Got it 😊❤️
I would suggest The name of the Wind. It is a trilogy by Patrick Rothfuss. He has books completed and a interlude book.
Thank you for the book recommendation, we will add it to our queue.
Not sure if I recommended it before but my obsession book series is The Lunar Chronicles. The first book is called Cinder. In each book she uses a classic character Cinderella for first book. Little red riding hood for second book called Scarlet. Maybe check it out. I listen to audio because I can't hold a book and knit. Even from the middle of the first chapter I was hooked. I went thru the whole series in about a month. Kevin your sweater is perfect. The color is nice on you. Have a lovely Easter!
Oh that sounds really interesting!! Thanks for the recommendation!! ❤️
I have to laugh when Ray said he isn't enjoying Outlander. I think I had to force myself to work through the first book. I own them all and they do get better. Might I suggest The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher? Sci Fi. I'm listening to them on audible because I am a fan of James Marsters. Also I am watching Criminal Minds and I have to watch during the day with all the doors and windows locked :-).
Haha We are so alike! I believe Kevin read that series but I'm definitely going to check it out! I've really enjoyed the Sci-Fi stuff I've read lately and this sounds perfect, thank you 😉
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast Y’all are great company while I’m knitting or crocheting. I even have conversations with you while y’all are talking about all the things☺️. Thank you.
