My wife asked "Have you watched this race before? I hear that Andretti name a lot." Besides four of them on the grid, Michael has been on a tear coming into this event. He continues to show flashes of the talent that has McLaren so interested in his services, even if that adventure doesn't work out so well for him on the future.
I went to all the Meadowlands races and while it was great to see the drivers, the race itself never gained a following because in the New York city market, no one cares about racing. Plus, the races were never interesting unless you were there enjoying the atmosphere. This was the last time Foyt drove on a road course. He said afterwards the pain was so bad in his legs he couldn't handle doing them again.
The only race in 1991 (and yes, I am including the Indy 500, as it was a points-paying race) that Michael Andretti did not lead a single lap. An astonishing fact by any standard, especially someone as good as Mikey.

This is the last major AOWR or NASCAR race held in the New York City area
