Great tutorial. I did something similar for my 8” sct but I used a Velcro self adhesive strip down the length of it. It allows adjustment to prevent it slipping and eliminates the need for a Velcro strap to secure it.
Wish I made one before I went and bought a shield.I did make a felt dew shield for my guide scope and it works great, and blocks stray light.
