Jeremy insults people. But he does that with jest, that's more crystal clear than anything. People who take offense don't understand other people's, and Clarkson's, more than anything, humour.
Have I ever been offended by one of Jeremy's remarks? Of course. But I love the show - it's the ultimate "guy thing" - warts and all, just like real life. Jeremy is just Jeremy, Captain Slow is most like me, and who doesn't like Richard? (Glad you're okay Hamster) Thanks for the entertainment Top Gear UK.
They weren't really saying that Top Gear was sexist, just marvelling that despite having three male presenters talking about cars every week, it was a show surprisingly popular with the women too!
It is the time we live in. Instead of women doing their own thing and just shutting the fuck up. They demand to be part of all of our shit or it is sexist. In other words they want to be paid to do something they hate, know nothing about, and could care less for. THey just want a female there to be paid to ruin it. Just like in the military. They want to be there and it not be hard for them, but they don't want to be on the front lines. They just want all the same credit for doing everything half ass and not caring about it. Simply because they have a vagina. If you try and be nice and ask questions about why they want to be involved they will labeled you an asshole as bad as me. Unless you agree with them 100% and are helping them. They want an army of beta males they will never have sex with behind them. They get really mad if you call them out on their bullshit. Just like people on the left. You are either a racism or sexist.
I think they would be talking about the jokes they have on the "old show". i don't mind the offensive jokes. The only thing I mind is that the 3 are together
I think everybody takes Clarkson's jokes to serious. People just need to laugh at their selves every once and a while. Sometimes Clarkson does go to far with jokes, but seriously,
I completely agree. I seems as though people have forgotten how to laugh, and how to just enjoy life. Instead we just occupy ourselves by getting stressed out over every little meaningless issue in life. It seems that every damn day some random person, celebrity or not, is being harassed for speaking their opinion, or just being a human being. It's as though people take things like this in life too seriously, and it causes them to miss the point of life in general. Now its probably always been this way, but I think a big reason for the increase in the publicity of this sort of controversy is the growth of the internet and social media. It is so easy now for people to just take 5 minutes out of their day to go bitch and moan about something to nearly everyone just because they can. On one level this is why Top Gear is so good. It's because to me it is the most genuine show on tv. The show's generally unscripted improvisation makes it seem natural and human. It's like you're hanging out with your friends, just crackin jokes and doing whatever the hell it is you want to do whilst not giving two shits about whatever problems you faced today, or whatever it is you will face tomorrow. Whereas everything else seems either overproduced or fake to the point where they don't really capture or engage their audience.
It would be a great show though, if Jay Leno hosts the American one...now that he's done with the Tonight Show. Still couldn't touch UK though, there's just too much history.
Id just say bring them back to tv on any channel instead of amazon prime. Or atleast put them on netflix cuz the only reason i pay for amazon prime is for the grand tour.
Matty G Yeah, you. You should realise that there are many people who have grown when internet had existed, it is as normal to them as driving a car, which is as normal to everyone as riding a horse was back in history. (or in fact more common but that is not the point)
HELL, that's just an American tradition, in many states, especially the real South and parts of the southwest. Plus the fact many hate low speed limits, so this is just a way to show dislike while improving your firing skills
i love how it isnt diving through Afghanistan, Iraq, Jerusalem or any number of war torn or third world countries that was the most dangerous. it was America. it really says something about America to the rest of the world.
In fairness they were picking a fight in America. I'm sure they would have died very quickly if they purposely tried to piss off the middle east. Look what happened to Salmon Rushdie.
God i love this show! How lucky would it be to get PAID to drive exotics and top end cars like you stole it! Im an American and i think its hilarious at the ribbing they give everybody even us americans.
***** Yeah, the original comes from the heart of Jeremy, Richard and James. That "U.S" piece of crap is a cheap, plastic hollywood copy version where the three idiots they hired stand on camera with their hands in their pockets and read a script. Then they say "Now we'll do something wacky", and proceed to show us why cheap hollywood copies of something good should never exist in the first place. And I REALLY wanted it to be good, too. Such a disappointment that was...

This video shows exactly why we need them back as soon as possible. "There's nothing on TV quite like Top Gear". Let's hope they all turn up together again soon.
+Kaiser I would say that was either Germany or the US. Germany because Karl Benz invented the first car there in 1886, or the US because the first car with a conventional modern layout (3 pedals, handbrake and gearlever in the middle, and a key to start it) was created there by Cadillac.
America: "the country that's generally considered the spiritual home of the motor vehicle" Indirectly insinuating you "invented" the car? How Pathetic can a show get?
"Spiritual home of the motor vehicle" means that "It wasn't invented here but much of the culture was built here" That's what the "Spiritual" qualifier means in that sentence. And he was also talking about Britain when he said that.

I am american and this is one of the best programs on television. I buy every season on iTunes (i don't carry cable anymore as most of the rest is worthless). Anyone at all taking offense to Clarkson and crew needs to lighten up significantly. Its a television show. You have the choice of watching it or not. And as for the comments blasting America, oh give it a rest already! Start looking in the mirror before blasting others. That goes for the Americans here blasting others as well. Its a sad statement on society that people have become so close minded, egocentric and stupidly sensitive.
and now Clarkson had been fired indefinitely from Top Gear....I don't even know how to respond to that...I doubt the show will last without the three together :( it really throws a spanner in the works; no pun intended.
you see they are not just car enthusiasts they or their producers are very intelligent. Their way of humor both through the show and in interviews really show they know how to attract people and make themselves wanted. I mean, I don't think I'll ever be as upset as I will be with any TV show than when Top Gear ends
It would at least be a monumental undertaking. These guys just remind me of myself and my best mates on a good day. I think that deep down that's what they are as well.

very true, my mate lived out there for 5 years and thats the one thing he said about them he couldn't stand. They don't just take the piss out of each other as a jokes like we do in the UK and AUS.
he says "in the country that is generally considered the spiritual home of the motorvehicle..." ...that's really funny since the americans have never been the "spiritual home"...and that is because they didn't invent the car, they didn't develop any of it's technology and never made a groundbraking invention even remotely concerning a car xD ...well...maybe satnav xD
The idea of a car being a thing normal people used came from the US. Regular people driving cars first took off in the US, and mass production of cars started here. I'm not sure I'd call the US the "spiritual home" of the automobile (I don't know WHO i'd call that), but it certainly has a huge part in automotive history. The US isn't the birthplace of cars or the idea of it certainly, but it did give birth to the auto industry and shaped it into what it is today.
Actually, and it pains me to say this as a British car enthusiast, the Americans came up with the first conventional control system i.e. accelerator, brake, clutch, gears and handbrake in the middle and a steering wheel. Look up the Cadillac Type 53.
College Mom Well you're from California, the largest collection of imbeciles, as well as sexists/racists who don't realize they are sexist/racist......IN THE WORLD.
***** Of course lol most people out here do not understand what racism is. They believe they can make all the backhanded comments they want because they are "jokes". Their jokes represent their actual feelings. They can't separate it even though they say they do. It creates an almost subconscious racism that spreads through the culture. Jokes every now and again \, and jokes every day are a little different. If you are telling the same black guy joke for 2 months to the same people you are probably a racist.
***** Also you can say what you want about imbeciles, but all I can say is what do you expect? We are one of the largest states and we are ranked 49th in spending on education. It isn't hard to see why people are idiots. I'm not sure if I offended you because you live in Alabama or what, but don't be upset. Most people in our country are horrible and frankly unintelligent. You should be happy you are not one of them.
Do I see Clarkson pouting at the end of the video? wow! makes me want to see Hammond entrance after his accident to understand why this pouting. Clarkson is a man with big heart
I really respect for what Jeremy, James and Richard do on Top Gear. So many complains and uproars caused for what they present on worldwide television just for our "The peoples" amusement. It won't be long until one day the trio stop what they do or retire in the near future. We will truly miss them when that day comes.
Ricky Gervais called The Simpsons an influence on The Office, and fellow British sitcom Spaced was, according to its director Edgar Wright, "an attempt to do a live-action The Simpsons." Coupling was based off of FRIENDS and The Sopranos was the basis for Downton Abbey...
@bncarspotters Actually this particular episode is from Series 10, Episode 2, where Jeremy is in a Nissan 4x4 D21 Hardbody , nicknamed the "Nissank", fitted with an outboard motor that he used to 'drive' across the Channel. The Toybota, on the other hand, is from Series 8 Episode 3 where Jeremy and the others had to 'drive' to Rudyard Reservoir near Leek, Staffordshire in total of 2 miles along the length of the lake.
5:29 "You guys got a lot of heat about drinking while driving" "You say the word 'driving,' but technically it's actually a frozen ocean so it's sailing." Made my week
Top Gear USA probably helps fund Top Gear UK. I've never seen the US version and I don't plan to, but it takes nothing from the UK version, and anyone that does like the US version now has twice as much Top Gear to enjoy.
Was not a Nissan but a toyota, I have the episodes repeatedly and can answer most in question. The lil blue car was by Peel known as the P50. Deathwish as claimed in the beginning??? This is a dream job for me! Loved the Hilux in the Artic as well at the volcano, it is just adventure at every turn and straight away. I would work for free for the rest of my life to have and do that which they have done. Just love it! As for Jeremy Clarkson, he exibits freedoms in which most fear to exercise, truely makes Britian a desirable but contentious place to live. This trio really make the show and The STIG is all the icing.
To the people who think it was a toyota that they used to cross the channel, you are wrong. It was a nissan. Jeremy had used a toyota in a previous episode on a lake. Watch the channel crossing episode closely and you will see it's a nissan.
Learn not to care so much, take a few risks (within and without reason), laugh at yourself all the time, regard government as a barely tolerable necessity, and find friends with whom you can endlessly share the joke. Do this and you'll enjoy life a hell of a lot more than if you don't. That's what Top Gear is all about and that's why I love it. It's also adding to a great tradition of post-war British comedy: Goons, Python, Blackadder, Enfield, Fast Show - Top Gear! Comedy, but with cars.
I have never misunderstood the show like some. It is great and we all watch it. And i only watch a few shows. The two bbc shows i love are the good life and top gear.
Jeremy insults people. But he does that with jest, that's more crystal clear than anything. People who take offense don't understand other people's, and Clarkson's, more than anything, humour.

I think that a trio can replace them if they really work well together like these guys do and they don't try to replicate how these 3 act.
@Sam Price >>> Nor their car seats...😊
So just because its three male presenters, the show is sexist? People are just searching for things to complain about now.
You mean, the wrong way of doing feminism
Well to be fair, between May and Hammond you almost get 1 woman

Honestly if any of them died I would cry for weeks
Just as if he were a fly or a rock drummer LOL
Anyways moving on
Clarkson is literally the funniest person who doesn't even need to try to be funny.
Ironic, the thing that ended up killing Top Gear was the lack of a good meal.
"An audience that is 40% female." Hammond.
Swen Ciupke makes perfect sense
Being able to make women laugh makes a man attractive so yes, while Hammond is the pretty one, Clarkson has his own special charm.

Americans seem to think America is the center of everything.
Look up the Cadillac Type 53.
we also had the first starter too im pretty sure, no more broken arms from the crank kicking back
No, it was a Nissan (dubbed the "Nissank*.
The Toybota was from an earlier episode, only used in a reservoir.
I fucking love that segment in Alabama, because right wingers love to say that people on the left are overly sensitive.
Right! Alabama is fucking ridiculous. Lived there for 5 years, and I was from California. Largest collection of racists in the country.
College Mom
Well you're from California, the largest collection of imbeciles, as well as sexists/racists who don't realize they are sexist/racist......IN THE WORLD.
College Mom I wanna move to Alabama now c;
I am a truck driver n I love Jeremy Clarkson
Do I see Clarkson pouting at the end of the video? wow! makes me want to see Hammond entrance after his accident to understand why this pouting. Clarkson is a man with big heart
I really respect for what Jeremy, James and Richard do on Top Gear. So many complains and uproars caused for what they present on worldwide television just for our "The peoples" amusement. It won't be long until one day the trio stop what they do or retire in the near future.
We will truly miss them when that day comes.
This is the best show on television. I hope these 3 old crotchety dudes never leave the show.
I wish I had seen this when it aired in the US!
I wonder how it feels to have a show where u are loved all over the world. Even when they aren't suppose to, they do.
5:29 "You guys got a lot of heat about drinking while driving"
"You say the word 'driving,' but technically it's actually a frozen ocean so it's sailing."
Made my week
Top Gear USA probably helps fund Top Gear UK. I've never seen the US version and I don't plan to, but it takes nothing from the UK version, and anyone that does like the US version now has twice as much Top Gear to enjoy.
That Alabama road trip is my favorite episode of Top Gear!
i can verify that. i only watch the UK version, and have been doing it for years now
one of the only shows i watch on tv nowadays
The original was a toyota this is version 2 its a nissan you can even see it on the side (i was confused for a while)
To the people who think it was a toyota that they used to cross the channel, you are wrong. It was a nissan. Jeremy had used a toyota in a previous episode on a lake. Watch the channel crossing episode closely and you will see it's a nissan.
They are legendary trio! Top Gear FTW!!
I was a truck driver. I was not offended at all by the truck driving episode. I found it hilarious.
That sucks... This is an extremely cut-down version of "Top Gear's Wild Ride."
Actually, Hammond was an automotive journalist at some point in his career on Granada Men & Motors.
these guys are the best trio ever
I won't break the tradition of quoting the video itself to get thumbed up.
"There's nothing on television quite like Top Gear."
I have never misunderstood the show like some. It is great and we all watch it. And i only watch a few shows. The two bbc shows i love are the good life and top gear.
" 10, 9, 8... he was operating at the very limit of his capacity counting backwards from 10" LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Just wanna point out that two of the shots of James May "hitting the person in front of him" were actually Hammond hitting James from behind.
Agreed. A perfect trio.
