*IMPORTANT RULE CLARIFICATION!* This is stated incredibly poorly in the rulebook (unfortunately another negative about this expansion), but it seems after looking through some forums about Module B that the die used to activate the bonus action from the guest room in which your noble is staying IS available for use later in the round. In other words, that special ability is triggered by you taking a corresponding die (once per round) but the die does not end up on that guest room space. That makes a BIG difference and I'm excited to play the game again with that module to appreciate how strong those guest room spaces will be now! I try my hardest not to make rules mistakes in my videos, but if you look at the rulebook you'll see how unclear that part of the rulebook is. Sorry about that!

      Hey :)
I just looked up the english Version of the rulebook and I think there's nothing poorly stated...
"During Phase (C) (Server) or Phase (D) (dice selection), the first time you
place a die under your Tavern that shows the number of a chamber
occupied by a Noble, immediately take the bonus action indicated there. In
return, the die you placed under your Tavern is not used."
I could only imagine you may have a different translated version of the rulebook.
But I have some confessions to make myself. When I read the rules for scenario 6 and they said you can hold on to infinite Schnaps now I was confused.
Then I checked the rulebook for the basegame-modules and a little note at the End of Module 2 says: "Attention: Each player may not have more than 4 Schnapps Tokens at the end
of his turn. Excess tokens must be returned to the general supply."
      I hadn't noticed this until now ^^"
So all-in-all I'd say keep reading every section twice and aloud to make sure you get it. It can be embarrassing at times to get the rules wrong ^^"
(Don't ask about "definitions" of certain Card-Effects in Dominion our Group has had debates on xD)

@@MortimerFolchert Thank you for your comment, Mortimer! I do find myself wondering if you reading the rules in the original German skewed your perspective of how the English translation reads. The problematic part of that section in the rules is: "In return, the die you placed under your Tavern is not used." The "in return" definitely sounds transactional, as in: "I'll teach your son piano lessons. In return, you bake me a lasagna." So in this case, you immediately get to take the bonus action, and then *in return* (or as a consequence) the die... is not used. (It doesn't get to be used later in the round.) Chris and Wendy Yi uploaded a review for this expansion the day before I did on The Dice Tower and they made the same mistake. A commenter over there had this to say: "WOW, I read the rules in my language, and it was Dutch, so I didn't get how they were confused about it. But now reading how it is written in English: that is horrendous!" It seems like this is a commonly misinterpreted mistake and something that could certainly have been worded better, at least in my mind! It's too bad I didn't see that comment before I uploaded my video!
Yes, the Schnapps limit is an easy rule to overlook! It's also not something that comes up very often so I could totally see how you could play without keeping that rule in mind. 🥃
This expansion was a rare case of me playing a game/expansion without watching at least a few review/rules teach/playthrough videos beforehand so I was totally at the mercy of the rulebook and that rule just slipped through the cracks. If I'm teaching myself a game or expansion from a rulebook in the future, I will try to be more careful, but unfortunately I can't make any promises! (Haha, I can imagine some of those Dominion nuances sparking some debate!)

    Hey Dave =D
Nice to watch your Review =) Can't wait for the Solo-Playthrough.
As promised, here are my Stats from the Solo-Scenarios:
    (I did the 1st Scenario 3 times.)
The first attempt I lost similiar to your attempt by not reaching the end of the monestary-track.
I reached space 19/22 and got 128 Points.
The second attempt I won with 113 Points. Had to change a lot of my strategy to get there and almost didn't make it in terms of Points.
On my third attempt I used modules 5|A-D. I chose the Abbess as my Innkeeper and it went pretty smooth. (Not easy though, just smooth)
I won by completing the monestary-track during Round 6 and focused 7&8 solely on getting Points. I got 163. =D
So all-in-all I'd say I love playing these szenarios. Looking forward to play the 2nd Scenario with the Charmer-Innkeeper.
But I'll probably do them next month. I want to buy the "Tavern Organizer" from Laserox first make set-up and clean-up the game faster.
If you aren't aware of these Kits I recommend checking them out. bit.ly/3scQQmx
They do these Organizers for a lot of different Games.
I'm looking forward to your Solo-Mode-Revenge now with more modules. =D
    Greetings,
    Morti

Thanks for updating me on your solo campaign journey! Yeah, that monastery track is hard to get to the top of... especially when you don't realize you can place more than one 5 on that space! 😅 Glad you were able to get it the second time, though! I could certainly see the Abbess helping you get up that track! Sounds like you totally dominated that game!
I wish I had more time to explore those solo scenarios... I'll get around to finishing that solo campaign; maybe this summer! I'm excited for your Laserox inserts; they do look magnificent! Thanks again for your comment, Mortimer!

We need a cat expansion for this game!

There is a cat in the top left corner of the tavern but you’re right; we need a expansion that features cats! (Love the distinguished cat in your avatar, by the way!) 🧐

my problem with this game is the end of game scoring, i haven't played it yet but my friends did and as far as i know , you only score the points on the cards, no hidden goals, no several scoring paths, i love games with dice but i prefer games with several ways to get points, i will try it maybe next week(the base game not this expansion:)), amazing video as always Dave

You get Victory Points from multiple other occasion like the Requestboard or your Honortrack or the Schanpps you have left.
But do not be confused about scoring by Points on Cards. The Noble-Cards score 10 Points each and you have lots of different possibilities to get yourself some nobles.
Like with Dominion for example you also count Victory Points on cards (almost exclusively) and you have various methods of aquiring those Cards. (Mostly with money though, which on it's own has several methods to be gained). Same goes for Taverns of Tiefenthal. Especially with this expansion you get lots of new different playstyles due to Innkeepers and the Requestboard alone. =D

Thank you so much! Yes, the points do just come down to the cards in your deck (unless you're playing with some of the modules), but I wouldn't say there aren't several ways to get points! You can get points by attracting more valuable guests, by purchasing tables and hiring temporary workers, upgrading your tavern and hiring permanent employees, and even "buying" nobles with a surplus of beer! Mortimer makes a similar point in his response. You'll have to let me know what you think when you play it next week! And maybe try it with a module or two; I think you'll find that the game is more fun and open-ended when you start adding them to the game! Have fun! 🍺

@@MortimerFolchert That was a nice response, Mortimer! The comparison to Dominion was a good one. That one also comes down to just adding up the cards in your deck (and in that case there are typically just three different kinds of cards that score you points) but there are SO many different strategies to try out with the action cards! And I totally agree with you that the expansion opens up the game a lot more for strategic exploration and experimentation!

a bit late, but I do agree with this. Scoring only from cards makes it impossible to follow your score, even approximately. But then again, the goal is to get those nobles as much as possible.
