Remember me asking about the Foxhall ? So yes back in the day us engineers would have an annual summer ride out to Blackpool ,the Manchester and the Foxhall were the first ports of call on a Marathon pub crawl ending up at the Bier Keller (next to Tussauds) happy days😆
A friend's dad used to run the Bier Keller and at the end of the season (1988/89) there was a staff doo, the doormen kicked off and there was fighting everywhere...
@@Hjd10 It was early 1970's when we would be there. There was always fighting going on. It was holiday fortnight for Glaswegians too , say no more lol

Found this channel by chance, but really enjoy it, showing the good, the bad and the ugly and of course a cracking sunset! You could say Blackpool is a bit rough around the edges, but I still love it!

My gosh. This montage makes Blackpool look like the roughest place in the world, And I thought Keighley Was rough
The trouble with Blackpool is that on the promenade in the day it's almost normal but when you just go a few streets away and it goes dark then that's quite a different story. I'd say that generally Blackpool is no rougher than anywhere else with socio-economic deprivation.

Danger money or hired protection team comes to mind. Sadly every city has two sides, with your videos we get an honest appreciation of life in Blackpool. How often have you felt ‘under pressure’ while filming ? I for one love your work, I can’t wait to see what comes next. Thank you Stephen you have helped us all be entertained ( and kept sane) through lockdown.
Only one occasion where I was approached & told to stop filming was on Central Drive when some scallywag didn't like the house he lived in being shown in the background. I chose to move rather than argue, even though I was doing nothing wrong.
Hope we get another few years of A Walk on the wild side even though lockdown has finished. Love the fact we get to see the seedy side of Blackpool, but stay safe Stephen and here’s to another year of excellent photography

Haven't been to Blackpool in years, went every year as kids and after my mother passing away was looking at some of our old haunts as kids and found your channel. We used to stay at the Renard and later the Ambassador which is how I found you, think I need to come back and relive my youth.......though obviously the Ambassador is out of the running.

that's pretty tame compared to where I lived decades ago in Hounslow London lol, but you really have got some bottle to be out and about amidst the mayhem of night life Stephen ! Your videos are really cool. I'm from down South. I've been to Blackpool once. It's still the scariest most deppressing place I've ever been to. Great Yarmouth is 2nd most depressing.

Very enjoyable. Recognised many of the streets in your video. One more day here in Blackpool, before moving on to Liverpool. The five nights here so far, have been interesting.
Think the first time I visited Blackpool was about 1974 or 75 - I was 5 or 6 back then, the last time I visited was September 2018
I don't have any desires to return anytime soon, shame really as have years of good memories in the place, maybe now just an age thing but I just see it now as a rundown neglected seaside town in need of a lot more help than a few new hotels.
I hope it gets the lift it needs or it will just dwindle further away and keep attracting all the wrong kind of people that won't do the town any favours.

It’s a toilet ! The people in the surrounding villages are a strange breed too. Poulton was full of Telesales staff sniffing gear talking shite when I visited my mate there. Never seen a town or village like it 😂

You can blame Maggie Thatcher for Blackpool’s decline ….. started with the poll tax… then she closed all the ship yards, coal mines etc .. for which Blackpool relied on those workers to come and holiday there.

My late Grandparent,s went to the same Guest House in Blackpool for 37yrs! Northern town,s would shut down for 2 wks and nearly everyone went to Blackpool, pre cheap flight,s to the likes of Spain. If you get the weather like last wk, great, this wk, oh dear.
Those flats that those lads were kicking the door in on Dale St, I used to live in those very flats. That block of flats goes through on the other side to Foxall Rd. I lived there on and off for 3 years. The worst time of my life! I lived in many places in Blackpool on and off for 8 years. The best thing I ever did was move away! Many nicer areas in Blackpool and especially St Annes but living in South Shore!... well not for the faint of heart I tell you!
