  • On the 12th of November 1999 Alan Rosser, a back street garage owner, was shot & killed at his place of work situated behind the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool. To this date, the killer has never been found, but the murder is thought to have likely been related to drugs or an unpaid debt.
The murder happened at Alan's workshop, which was located in the yard behind the gates next to the building featured in the video.
This video was shot in April 2021

Awesome video and information Stephen, looked very dodgy down that alleyway you definitely did the right thing getting out of there, really appreciate what you are prepared to do for us and you're channel, it's what makes it by far the best TH-cam channel on Blackpool and its surrounding areas.👍

Back in the late 80s about 1986-87 Alan Rosser started to make a scooter called a rosser 350 Lambretta and there was advert about it in a magazine called scootering. What he was doing was taking a written off Yamaha RD 350 super power valve and using the engine and putting it into a Lambretta, but obviously had to do some modifications. There was a big demand for this scooter and even a waiting list. As there was not many written off Yamaha RD 350 super power valves available Rosser started to go around the country stealing Yamah 350 superpower valves motorbikes and Lambretta scooters. A number of mods and scooterists paid alot of money for these scooters. Unfortunately the chassis the frame of the Lambretta couldn't take the power so they had lots of problems and people was alway taking them back.Eventually the police found out he was stealing all the Yamaha 350 moterbikes and scooters. So multiple mods and scooterist lost a lot of money as the police took the scooters away as they was classed as stolen property. You also had hunderds of people who lost there £1000 deposit as that what it cost to go on his waiting list. As Alan knew the game was up he went on the run as he was also a crackhead and into drugs. So take you pick who was responsible for his murder someone who lost there Yamaha motorbike or Lambretta scooter, a mod or scooterist who lost lots of money, someone hurt or killed by his deathtrap as they was a death trap or someone he owed money to for drugs. But thank you Stephen for this video as I didn't know what happened to him after he went on the run .

Imagine being the person who committed the murder and still walking the streets in the area and feeling the security of having gotten away with such a crime. And also, it says a lot that the police failed in finding the person who committed the murder.

One main reason that properties are torn down, where murders have been committed in them, is that they are left with an atmosphere of violence that cannot be gotten rid of. In that alley way you felt something of what was left behind, and shall remain.

He was very creative with his ability to repair Vespa and Lambretta , he managed to put a motorbike engine into the frame of a lambretta scooter which must have been very technical, he did have his own, substance issues from what I can remember about him, he was liked by a lot of people

I worked in Blackpool and there's absolutely loads of fascinating murder stories. Sasha Marsden at Grafton house hotel. I went to the hotel as part of my job, the woman running it like most hotels were struggling. There was blood staines still on the carpet!! Months after the hotel started doing really well as people went to stay in the murder hotel! The two Michael Downs killings in care homes. Think he was a taxi driver who just randomly snuck in. Chris Heartley beheaded. I worked on south shore 2011-2014. There was something like 6 murders in that time. I was working with the transient people who pass through bedsits. Some of the places where there had been stabbings afterwards blood marks would just be left after the police were done. No one could be bothered to clean it up. Some of the country biggest sex offenders out of prison moved there. They could because the lack of schools and parks. You had loads of vulnerable people who were in ill health and poor, going back to where they had a happy holiday and then you'd have adverts in prisons advertising letting agents who'd give you a room of an old hotel for the price of your housing benefit. You can't live in those things. The best thing Blackpool could do is tear the whole area down which would be such a shame with the history but they're built for a town with 1000's of holiday makers and that's not the case anymore.

Well said and a lot of saddness with it ,and your rite i used to live near the gynn on homefield road when young ,and back in late 70s early 80s the whole of North shore was still mainly thriving ,with most hotels and bnbs still open and doing well I used to walk through the area to town back then ,but later in the 80 s it went downhill quickly now I know it was mainly due to cheap flights abroad ,and though the council couldn't fail to notice what was going on ,they just left landlords to change there use from holiday places to benefits hotels and permanent accomodation ,so without real planning permission through default ,these areas changed to a low level housing estate so Dickson road mainly died hardly even a chip shop now on there ,apart from town and to this day with all the deprevation this areas still left to rot ,and so near town as led to similar things happening with hotels boarded up around Queen Street ,in a nutshell from gynn square to town and back a bit the area is very rough and grim sadly ,were it once was mainly a shining light for the town and shamefully the council have no desire or idea what to do .

He got it back and I got my tools. Really nice bloke. I only found out about the gangs he was mixed up with after he was murdered. Such a shame he got in with the wrong crowd. I hope they get them but I don’t hold out much hope. The police nowadays are far too busy virtue signalling in their rainbow cars and monitoring social media to do any real police work.

Wow Steve that was a bit of a spooky one, interesting all the same, but your one hello of a brave guy, I went cold while you was down that alleyway, you certainly do take some risks, well try and catch you on the next one... Dave

My wife and I stayed in this hotel five years ago. It is excellent and good value for money. Never knew about this murder though.

Fantastic video Stephen, after reading more into the story it seems likely Mr Rosser got involved with the wrong people and it ultimately cost him his life, The fact there is no conviction to this day points to a professional killer as no normal killer would have access to a handgun and perform a clean kill leaving no evidence behind, so I am guessing organised crime related.
