I think that although Blackpool's touristy areas sometimes get a bad press, they are not necessarily the main reason for Blackpool's poor reputation. Some of the more urban/residential areas are very run down and have high crime rates, and there is a lot of deprivation. Not unlike many other similarly sized towns, it has it's good parts and bad, but in the last 10-15 years, the bad parts seem to have got worse (I won't get political here!!).
Great channel, by the way! I found you a couple of hours ago, and have been binging your videos. Love to see different parts of our wonderful country showcased, and it's interesting seeing them from a younger person's point of view. Look forward to following your next adventures!

Brilliant video! I think the British seaside have a distinctive if not touristy look that is hard to duplicate, new combined with old. Here in the states people think it is tacky, but I like the charm of the eclectic architecture. For photography these places have it all! As always thanks for sharing and continued success in your travels!

I’ve visited Blackpool twice, 53 years ago at the funfair on a school trip, and 34 years ago. It’s got its own interesting character, like every place. And even if you go in winter you see the lights down that very long road that goes past the pleasure beach, I think. It was nice being on the coach looking at the lights. Every city is different.

I hope you didn't come across any big crabs on your way down to the sea! Lol. What you said about Brighton pier was interesting. I'm currently in that city and was on the pier last week. Most piers down this way are free to go on I think. Sadly, our one in Hastings caught fire and I watched it go up in flames 😔Although the base survived, it will never be the same. I've not been to Blackpool, but I hope to visit there one day. Another thumbs up! 👍

Nice video! Sometimes these supposedly "rough" areas are not quite as bad as people would have you believe - and how much of it is just self-fulfilled prophecy? Someone says a place is bad, so everyone stops spending money there, and the money dries up. Another one to give a go in that area might be Preston if you ever get a chance. It also has a bit of mixed reviews, but there are some interesting looking buildings and the park by the river is quite nice I thought.

Great! We had to go through Preston on the train to Blackpool so bearing in mind I was staying in Manchester on “holiday” I’d say I could probably make it to Preston one day. Do you travel much?

If you went a street or so away from the sea front you would certainly see signs of social deprivation, - it's pretty rough back there, all the money goes on maintaining a failing tourism industry with little left for the people and social infrastructure. Another good video, brilliant.

Great video as always- the reason people think Blackpool is really bad is because all the homelessness and crime is very well hidden behind the famous tourist attractions so most people don’t actually see the full effect that is has. If you like seaside places also a good one would be Bridlington in Yorkshire it’s meant to be the most dangerous town in the county but I’ve been there 4 times and have never seen anything bad. It has a nice pier and everything but has a similar problem to Blackpool
Oh this is embarrassing why did I write this in the reply column 😭😭😭

Firstly, its DISGUSTING not DISCUSSING. DISCUSSING means "having a discussion".
Second, no Blackpool is NOT as bad as people say. Ive lived here my entire life and love it.
Its mostly jumping ln the bandwagon of putting the pkace down, mixed in with good old British negativity and cynicism.
Nobody, and i mean NOBODY can tell me intelligently whats wrong with the place, thst cant apply to many other places, both here and abroad.
All these videos (this one included) only ever show a PART of Blavkpool, namely the area between about North Pier and the Pleasure Beach. You know, the TOURISTY part.
What about the rest of it, like gorgeous Stanley Park, or even the residential areas around Bispham, Cleveleys, etc? Theres nothing wrong with them. Nothing.
Ive read some riduculous comments about Blackpool over the last few years. Here are some that stick in my memory:
Its full of derelict churches! "(No, it isnt).
"It smells of fish and chips". (Well no shit, Sherlock! Yes, there are tons of fish and chip shops along the prom. Bit like going to Vegas and complaining about there being too many slot machines!)
"Everywhere is boarded up". ( Er, no. The only boarded up ones are er.....the boarded up ones, which are not thst many).
"Its too busy in summer" (And that's bad....how???).
"Its knee deep in litter". It really isnt. You get some overflowing rubbish bins in summer. So what?
Many of these morons have never even been here. I know from talking to them. Its incredibly easy to catch them out.

Thanks for watching. Just so you know I filmed this video to tell people that it isn’t that bad. I know I’m a southerner and you probably tend not to like people like me visiting your town but I don’t think I did anything wrong. I only visited the “touristy” area because I didn’t have much time. I know I should start to go further into depth with the towns a visit but that’s more or less the only feedback I received in this comment. The rest of your comment was complaining about what other people have told you.
