Such an attractive and watchable performer - there`s something quite hypnotic about him; a sweetness one can`t help loving. I love all of Dave`s songs and his voice. The egoless Kink.
I can't believe Dave is 55 here! He's still rocking like he's 20. He seems so happy here, I guess after 50 years of fighting for space to do his own thing, it's a welcome relief. He's still going so strong nearly 20 years on. Love you Dave!
Dave still is such a charming boy. You simply have to love him! Though, I`d like to say that in my opinion the lyrics demand a more melancholy look - as he used to perform it when he was young (and sad). Anyway, a wonderful song, a wonderful person.
I bumped into him yesterday at a pub near Euston! A nice soul and person!! I hope he plays on stage with Ray before its too late!!! I got a great a pic of him! purple glasses!!! he was was wearing!!
Incredible job by Dave here! In my estimation, this is easily one of the top ten kinks songs ever!! Some others I include in this rarified air: Picture Book, People Take Pictures Of Each Other, Sitting By The Riverside, Tin Soldier Man, Misty Water, Waterloo Sunset, Sunny Afternoon. I'll stop here!
Yeah, he got the stroke 2 years later. From what I've heard he's made as good a recovery as possible, a tour is in the working for later this year, I can't wait.
I have the vinyl album this song was on so that kind of dates me. Dave and Ray have such talent. I wish they had the same ability to get along that they have in creativity. The Kinks need a better end than the way it stoped.
Well, unfortunately Dave suffered a stroke in 2004, an d though his recovery has been impressive he still has a lot of problems, e.g. he has great trouble singing and playing guitar at the same time. Notwithstanding, he has released a new album in 2007, though he can't really play shows to support it as I understand it.
My makeup is dry and it clags on my chin I'm drowning my sorrows in whisky and gin The lion tamer's whip doesn't crack anymore The lions they won't fight and the tigers won't roar So let's go and drink to the death of a clown So won't someone help me to break up this crown Let's all drink to the death of a clown The old fortune teller lies dead on the floor Nobody needs fortunes told anymore The trainer of insects is crouched on his knees And frantically looking for runaway fleas
Is this not a kinks record? why is it Dave seems to be always without his brother Ray when he is performing this song can body give me info on this anomaly
the old vaudavillien in dazzling form...you can see he's played it too many times and he knows it...but he also knows its a fucking top song..and the boys in the band care..."everybody after 3...sorry 4"..beer4dave
So Dave can't match Ray's song-writing? .......... some song this is......... The Kinks would love to have had this in their live set more often I feel!
see the bill oddie thing and you know those things they say about Dave itching to get back on stage again are possibly true. He'll likely plan s whole slew of dates a bit after what he's currently immediately doing with detune tv...
It's nice to see Dave enjoying himself up there on stage- Nice to know he's still got it. An extremely talented man!
Lin Iwaskow This was 17 years ago
@@harrypainter7472 Well, eve after 19 years, he's still got it!
Great song still got a great voice live,,
Such an attractive and watchable performer - there`s something quite hypnotic about him; a sweetness one can`t help loving. I love all of Dave`s songs and his voice. The egoless Kink.

What a great song! Dave is an amazing artist; the sad irony of his life was to be the brother of an even greater artist, who casts a very long shadow.
🥰😍👍 Thanks so much!
What a fantastic song powerfull and so sad !
LEGENDAIRE
I bumped into him yesterday at a pub near Euston! A nice soul and person!! I hope he plays on stage with Ray before its too late!!! I got a great a pic of him! purple glasses!!! he was was wearing!!

It's for me the best version of this song!!!
his voice was still in fine fettle, and the band is excellent.

Thanks, Lomedae!! Like the country twang Dave gives the song.
Timeless song !! From the incredible sixties !!
Awesome performance!

This is such a great song...

I am a huge Dave Davies fan, but Kudos to the band for following his idiosyncratic performance...
My two favourite Kinks songs are "Death of a Clown" and "Suzanna's Still Alive". Thanks for posting this!!!

La musica e la nostalgia dei mitici anni sessanta.
♡♡♡♡♡
This version was played at the end of a popular belgian tv show ,that's the reason why the presentor interrupted at the end of the song
This was always a great song that didn't get the recognition it merited.
fucking legend
I have the vinyl album this song was on so that kind of dates me. Dave and Ray have such talent. I wish they had the same ability to get along that they have in creativity. The Kinks need a better end than the way it stoped.
"De laatste show" was the name of this program that ran on Belgian TV between 1999 and 2012. The band was part of the show.
great upload
Great! DD one of F the BEST!
Really original song. I remember when it was first released in the late 60s.
i ,ove how dave shout sing after 3 ,then says sorry, 4 ,,,then shouts "3" when the lalalala bit starts classic had me in stiches
The first record I bought in my live...I think it was in 1967
Ok... I love me some Dave. He helped Ray made those songs sound like kinks songs in the day.
ja das war noch Musik.
bedankt vor instelling
Thanks for the Memory ❤❤❤

In abandoned amusement park in my state of Ohio someone wrote some of the songs lyrics on a walk
Dave was the kinks backbone.
Sir Ray: "And now I'd like to hand over to my brother, Dave Davies...who's going to sing you a medley of his HIT!"
Anybody saying anything negative about this video is whack. It's a live performance at small and personal venue.
✌️
SUBLIME!!!
Por Dios tan guapo que era!!!
Mark Hamill, thanks for sending me here
My makeup is dry and it clags on my chin
I'm drowning my sorrows in whisky and gin

The old fortune teller lies dead on the floor
Nobody needs fortunes told anymore
The trainer of insects is crouched on his knees
And frantically looking for runaway fleas
Запись четырнадцатилетней давности! Время никого не щадит. Рано или поздно мы уйдём за клоуном!!!
He looks like Kevin James right there :O (one of my favorite tv show actors)
and the music is great! 5/5
It's for Belgian tv ,and the presentator speak Dutch .
@bobsy49 The show's host did a recap of the guests of the show and announced when the next airing would be.
All Of Us Right?
Death of a clow is the best song The Kimgs Have done
In a Swedish video with Space Age Baby Jane
will a clown be killed, from 2002.
Wow,what a beautiful mullet LOL
Love that English accent.
Karat ist vielleicht etwas neuer.--Aber Dave Davis--The Kinks.!
Score one for the Clowns
Snowhawk ;)
you all gonna sing along with me? but not yet haha
Is that a his band or the TV shows band? It is a bit messy in places but they are pro enough to keep going.
The bald guy looks totally lost.
Is this not a kinks record? why is it Dave seems to be always without his brother Ray when he is performing this song can body give me info on this anomaly
It's top gear
What the hell did that bloke say near the end of the video???? I'm Australian and I couldn't follow it at all. Freat video, though.
Sung well, but I didn't like that the keyboards were muted out a bit, and too upbeat for me
the old vaudavillien in dazzling form...you can see he's played it too many times and he knows it...but he also knows its a fucking top song..and the boys in the band care..."everybody after 3...sorry 4"..beer4dave
I seem to remember he had a stroke recently-I think he's recovered well though.
So Dave can't match Ray's song-writing? .......... some song this is......... The Kinks would love to have had this in their live set more often I feel!
It was just an end-of-show message in Dutch, nothing 'bout the band or Dave Davies.
Stones 😣, Beatles 😣. The kinks 👏 👏 👏
