    Hi Phil. Sorry for a second comment so quickly. I have been trying to learn processes as quickly as possible, therefore consuming many professional’s work on YT. CarPro products supplier here in Australia is much more reliable than Gyeon, but i have found Gyeon much much easier to apply as a novice. I have coated my own car three times in the last year (COVID useful for something) and about 10 clients’ cars. Easiest is Optimum Gloss Coat, but nowhere near the gloss of Gyeon or CarPro. Gyeon flashes more readily than CarPro, but you do get similar results. Keep the videos coming as I’m always wanting to learn more. Lloyd

    Not sure if all VW's are the same but if you start the car then turn it off and immediately push down on the windshield control stick it will park the wipers in the maintenance position half way up the windshield. You can lift them off the windshield without hitting the hood. Once finished return them to the windshield. Once you start the car they will return to normal operation. Great video!

    Hi Phil. Great video informative and super easy to follow. A lot of cars (mostly European) have semi concealed wipers. Therefore they have a service position which involves moving the wiper lever in a certain way. This will move the wipers 90 degrees and then you can fold them off the windscreen. Each manufacturer has their own sequence, but its really easy to look it up online. This also makes coating the wiper arms easy too.

    If all goes according to plan I will coat the same car with gyeon evo pure . New formulations really appeal to me as a hobbyist. As for the windshield wipers, on my car, I turn the ignition key , so it's in contact mode, turn it right off and tap once on the wipers , that way they stay up and now you can fold them without hurting the paint . Bear in mind it's citroen but I found it works on Škoda too .

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. Clear coat on different vehicles will be harder or softer to polish out. Usually Older German vehicles have hard clear coat that takes a long time to compound and polish because it’s very hard. Most newer vehicles however have softer clear coat that is easier to compound and polish but it’s more difficult to finish because it can leave behind a little marring. I guess the only way I can explain it is like working with hard oak wood compared to soft pine wood.

    Just an aspect of the business side, once we keep a car, we tend to really spend more time and energy on that vehicle than on the road call. How do you charge? I just try to do the same that I would go at a customer's place. I just don't want to spoil the customer.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup I completely agree. We do take our time on vehicles that’s come to us for the day. We charge the same amount or sometimes a $25 discount if they drop it off. It doesn’t necessarily mean we put less effort into mobile jobs, it’s really just more hustle on our side for mobile jobs. We prefer to take our time and enjoy the process when it’s at our place.

  • @jsclayton
    @jsclayton ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you wait the 24 hours between primer and coating, do a prep wipe, or something in between? I'm got Gyeon coatings ready for our vehicles and there's not much I can find about their primer online. Thanks!

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. Yes we coated the paint the next day, no need for an panel wipe, the purpose of the primer is to eliminate the need for a panel wipe, which is awesome!
      So polish with the primer like any other finish polish. Wait 24hours, then apply the coatings. Gyeon has reformulated all their coatings so now it’s easier to apply and Syncro only needs one layer of Mohs and one layer of Skin.

    Hi Phil, great video, loved every minute, a beautiful job Sir !! that blue really is stunning when its clean. Question (even though it sounds like an observation.. One of our home grown high end wax manufacturers released a ceramic coat with its USP being, the coating was 100% compatible with his waxes. Now people like myself who have spent an absolutely rediculous amount of money on waxes but wanted something extra he developed the coating. My point being, he recommends the application method as you have with the microfiber applicator. I have a few cars that I love one being a LWB Lexus LS which Im sure you can guess has acres of paintwork.. Cut a long story short, I felt using the mf applicator technique was great until I reached the bottom of the bottle & still had the boot (trunk) lid & rear bumper to coat. Fortunately I bought 2 bottles so managed to finish the job. It felt as though the MF applicator method used as much as half again & with ceramic coatings costing what they do does the ease of use make up for the additional coating required ?? any thoughts gratefully appreciated.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Thanks!
      Wow that's crazy that it used that much! I have never even used up a 30ml bottle of coating even on a large Truck. How much do you apply on the applicator for each panel?
      I use these coatings very sparingly. once the pad is primed from the first application i only apply about 10 drops for each section. We always have about a 1/3 of the bottle left over. Maybe it's our method of application.

    • @mikesloper7112
      @mikesloper7112 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MirandaDetailing Thank you for your thoughts, they are appreciated. To answer your question as honestly as I can " I havent got a clue " Id put somewhere between 5 & 10 drops on the applicator dependent upon how much of the panel was left to coat. So it really was a surprise but from the sound of your response you dont feel as though you use any more product with a MF applicator. Ive just completed my original Lexus wheels ( after their 4th powder coat & refurb) with small 3 finger MF pads that GTechniq do (www.gtechniq.co.uk/shop/marine/accessories-marine/ap2-ultra-soft-foam-filled-microfibre-applicator/) but I'm not convinced these would be the right way to go for a half acre bonnet on my LS. The MF pad you are using, is it a common or garden applicator or has it a barrier to stop the foam innards from soaking up all the ceramic juices ? I think I will give it another go & see if I can lay my hands on some slim MF applicators that may not soak it all up.. I cant think of another reason for going through quite so much of the ceramic juice. ( It was my first time with a MF applicator but only loading the applicator when it was dry I dont know how I could use any less, perhaps I buy smaller cars........................ NOT ) Take care Phil, wishing you and yours success, health & happiness.

    Awesome job on the VW!! How would you compare the user experience with Mohs vs CSL?? Which do you feel is hard after curing? I always save my applicators and check them the next day like you did. Did try one coating recently that was disappointing soft afterwards.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! It’s hard to compare some coatings. I really enjoyed using both Gyeon and Gtechniq coatings. But CSL is in my opinion easier only because one layer is needed. But both harden up on the applicators really well. Both are super hydrophobic also. I just think CSL is easier to apply.

      I use both clay mitts/towels and clay bars. Mitts for top surfaces of the vehicle and traditional clay bar for bottom surfaces since they are usually the worst. The clay bar will definitely pick up more. No need for APC rinsing on coated cars unless they are super dirty or towards the end of their life.

    Hello Phil, i noticed in quite a few of your videos the wheel arches not cleaned. Is that simply because it was not necessary ?

    Hi Phil
    Do you not wash off the snow foam before doing the clay barring ?
    Looks like you use the snow foam as lubrication
    Do you not do a separate contact wash?

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope. The prewash or APC rinse that we do cleans the paint so well all we need to do is foam and contact wash and clay bar or mitt at the same time. It cuts down on product and water waste. Check this video out it explains all of that th-cam.com/video/rBHhe26eChM/w-d-xo.html

    Phil, this video shows how to put a VW into service mode so you can lift the wipers like other cars. Had to do this when changing my blades. th-cam.com/video/ss2SPHpT0H0/w-d-xo.html
