  • scud coating the old red brick wall ready to apply the 2nd coat of sand and cement render know as the scratch coat, scud coat is the most important layer here as its the foundation of witch everything else is applied to. we talk about applying the mixed scud coat to the mix itself giving what i put in and the ratios used of cement to sand. The next video will be all about that scratch coat again very important again applying the mud and scratching it up to leave a nice key / grip for the top coat the float coat . the 3rd video will be all about the float coat a finished job in its own right and many of house and homes are done this way and can be left with the cement finished look or even painted. the 4th and final video to this mini series will be about the acrylic render applying and finishing , so much detail in these videos that it had to be broken up into 4 parts so its easy to follow and so i can get the details into them so much to plastering and rendering I no doubt still left =something else out #scud #render #acrylic

To paint over 2 week old acrylic render can you use self primed exterior paint?
Or do you need to use special sealer primer

@c2k911 I would think so if uts self primer but you could test a small area 1st?

Is your render flush with the beads or do you leave a few mm for the acrylic?

Nice finish. How thick is the acrylic finish itself?
