As demonstrated by this expert mechanic, removing rust, making perfectly smooth & [silicone] lubricating inside the stub axle pinch bolt area is crucial.
Why silicon lubricant specifically? I'm always confused about what the different lubricants are designed for. PTFE, white grease, silicon..etc. Any idea?
There are the following signs of a faulty support: - Knocks and creaks in the front suspension. They are especially clearly audible when driving over bumps, turning the steering wheel, or when releasing the steering wheel after a turn. This occurs due to wear of the bearings or cracks in the support housing. - Vibrations and increased noise in the cabin. Extraneous sounds and vibrations can be transmitted to the steering wheel and car body, especially when driving on an uneven road. - Deterioration in controllability. The car may become less stable on the road, there are difficulties in keeping it on a straight trajectory. The steering may become tighter or, conversely, too light. - Uneven tire wear. Rapid wear of the front tires may indicate a violation of the geometry of the wheels caused by a faulty support. - Body roll in turns. When turning, the car may roll more than usual, which indicates a weakening of the strut fastening to the body.
Slightly tricky, I needed to price the bottom strut/shock pinch bolt clamp of the stub axle open with a wedge but I understood later that even the slightest rust will prevent the shock sliding home freely
Sooo..I had the spring replaced and then the wheel had a bit of clearance. The garage says there is a faulty bearing that they ordered. But I can't see a bearing replaced in this video. Could they be lying and there is some other problem? They gave me the car with the faulty suspension+wheel, and even performed the MOT and passed the car! So I'm inclined to think they are hiding something as not to get in trouble. And the car is still with them. Any thoughts?

WELL HE DIDNT SAY MUCH AT ALL. BE NICE WITH BIT OF COMMENTRY OF WHAT HE WAS DOING AND WHY. NO I DIDNT THINK MUCH OF IT REALY .INTRUSIVE MUSIC WHICH SERVED NO PURPOSE EXCEPT REMINDING ME I MUST TURN THE SOUND OFF OR DOWN. I JUST WANTED TO SEE HOW MANY BITS I HAVE TO REMOVE TO GET TO THE STRUT TOP. I DIDNT SEE HIM REMOVE THE INNER WING BRACING BAR UNLESS I MISSED IT WHILE TAKING A SWIG OF MY COFFEE.
This is shown at the very beginning of the video, the mechanic unscrews the wipers, then the protective plastic, and 3 bolts that attach the rack at the top. AUTODOC

Hey so why does torquing the nut on top of the mount to 50nm make rotating it feel so tight??
It is not possible to answer your question why the rotation seems so tight.
How do I know if they need to be changed?

Yes, you are right, the correct moment is 32 Nm, it will be useful for us.
Thanks for your attention.
Please tell, how to align the marks on the upper support correctly?
There are no marks on the upper support, it is installed on bolts.
AUTODOC
How do you align the struts ?
it is recommended to correct the wheel alignment after this replacement.

Hi there, after taking out the strut would you need to do a wheel alignment after the strut has been put back in?
Thank you for your feedback ! Yes, after doing any works on car wishbone, it is recommended that you carry out wheel alignment. Best regards, Autodoc.
He didnt align the strut bearing up at all or show how it needs to be aligned anyway
It was aligned, it can be seen at 5.08 minutes.
Thanks for your feedback.

audio off, subtitles on and speed x2 = a bearable and very efficient video. Otherwise watching this video is akin to grinding steel with an old sock.
Thank you for sharing your opinion!
