    Its honesty one of my most favourite moments from all the kung fu panda movies
    Just like the moment in the first movie when Tai Lung hesitated after hearing Shifu say "I'm sorry"

      Sadly, this never happens in the third movie with its villain. One of the many, many reasons it is far inferior to the other two. It's a fun movie by itself but a bad Kung Fu Panda movie.

    • @ambiverter
      @ambiverter ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arminarlert7273Wdym there are several emotional moments, Po being frustrated that he can't teach, his both fathers trying to figure out how to support him, and before they all figure out to send Chi straight to the fudging Spirit world.
      Also, Kai is a completely different kind of villain. He is neither afraid of anyone, nor does he expect anyone to have cared for him to maybe get emotional about.

    This film is one of this rare sequels that can compete with the original and maybe even surpasses them. The visuals are again stunning and the fights are intense.
    I think Shen as a villain is more interesting than Tai Lung because his past is linked to the heros. You could even say he helped creating him, what fits into Oogway's quote from the first film that one often meets his destiny on the path to avoid it.
    Although he might not be able to defeat Po in face to face combat, Shen outsmarts him and uses Po's trauma against him as a weapon. Po has to process his new learned past and make peace with it. Meanwhile Shen also has to deal with his past. He fears Po for being the prophecys chosen to defeat him. His motivation to correct his parents faults against him and take his happiness himself and his struggle trying this is a beautiful tale within the main story. Love this movie

    • @kuronaialtani
      @kuronaialtani ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Not only all that but Shen being an albino peacock means he technically fits the description of a “Warrior of black and white”
      He thought it meant pandas, which led to the whole chain of events for Po eventually being able to defeat him
      He cut the threads holding up that final cannon, he allowed it to crush him, killing him
      Thus, he was defeated by a warrior of black and white

    Something that is so subtly heartwarming? Ping remembers _literally every detail_ of the night Po came into his life. It's been somewhere between twenty and thirty years... most people forget the finer details of events after that long. The average person would remember finding Po in the box, and deciding to keep him when nobody came for him. But Ping remembers _every last detail_ like it had only just happened. The fact Po was hungry and wouldn't stop eating. The pants chase, the bath, all of it. And he even kept the crate.
    It shows how often Ping thinks about his son, and moreover, how much he loves Po... so much so that literally every memory of his boy is at the forefront of his mind, constantly refreshed, constantly remembered. He looks at Po every single day, every single time, and he remembers every last moment with him, and thinks to himself; "Keeping him was the best decision of my life. I couldn't love my son more if I _tried."_

    @the_dread_wolf1936 ปีที่แล้ว +36

    You miss the point of Shen's and Tai Lung's pain. They were both driven to their break by the expectations of their parents. Tai Lung was trained and raised his whole life by being told that he is the Dragon Warrior and that was the reward for all his training and pain. Shen grew up in the shadow of their parent's and the only way to break out was to go beyond what they did, Shen wanted to make his parents proud lost sight of the way.
    And I speak from personal experience when I say that the sins of a parent are punished by their children.

    I really like that they give Shen lots of depth and sympathy to his character while still having him an unrepentant villain. Yes, he's eaten up inside by the fact that his parents looked at him with fear and horror for just... being himself. He knows what he is. But he chooses to keep being it. He knows he could stop if he wanted to. He doesn't want to. And that's ultimately his undoing.

The biggest thing is that he is a legit Foe made for Po (Hehe i Rhymed), since he is the reason why his mom is dead. Fighting Tai Lang like you said was comical and fun for Po, Fighting Kai in part 3 was to save the Five and send Kai back to the spirit relm, but fighting Shen is a more personal and emotional journey for Po as it ties to his past. I read somewhere that an albino animal means dishonor even in the animal world, an albino animal is exiled from its main group, so this fact makes the history of this peacock even darker.

    Shen performs the slaughter that is part of what leads to Po growing up to become the dragon warrior, employs the soothsayer that ends up nursing Po back to health, personally fires the cannon blast that hits his own boat, and refuses the redemption he is offered to instead choose conflict. Shen was indeed defeated by a warrior of black and white: himself.

    Funny that you mention Tigress being so stoic just moments earlier. 😂
    In the recording booth and behind the scenes, Angeline Jolie did admit that this was one of her favorite lines because of how funny it was when paired with the super strong persona of Tigress. Oh she nailed the delivery of the line, don't get me wrong. But when she recorded it, she did have to take a few breaks to let out her laughter because of how serious she had to be when speaking the line.

    Something dark to consider is that Shen may have also targeted the Snow Leopards. If Tai Long is any proof they have a lot of potential as warriors. And that might explain why Tai Lung was left on a door step. However, he is to old for that because he spent 20 years in prison and seemed to have just become an adult by the time Shifu finished his training. So too much time has passed since Shen got that vision. That doesn't mean his people may not have been a target though
