I do love Limp Bizkit, and I also think that Limp Bizkit is self-aware and Fred does play a character to a decent degree, but trying to pretend that it's somehow high art or deep as a result is insane. They're somewhat self-aware frat boy nu-metal, but that still makes them frat boy nu-metal. it ain't deep.

The fact that me liking limp bizkit angers metal elitest gatekeepers makes me love LB more. They aren't high are but then neither is death metal or black metal and I'd rather listen to LB than any death metal.
Metal as a whole isn't even high art or sophisticated music.
Maybe it's because I view metal as mindless fun is why I enjoy LB so much
Each to their own but when it comes down to me. I'd rather listen to Limp Bizkit than any death metal, deathcore or black metal bands the metal gatekeepers seem to think is high art
I'm actually pretty chill with people's taste in metal. But the crap i get for simply enjoying Limp Bizkits dumb but fun music is hilarious.

Architects fandom DEFINITELY applies for a list like this. Anytime someone has a lick of criticism towards their newer music, it always comes with the usual “bAnDs EvOlVe. I wOuLd Be MaD iF a BaNd DiDn’T cHaNgE…” like, shut up. We get it; you like a band’s new sound. Doesn’t mean everyone else will love it the same way you do.
Same could apply for the Bring Me the Horizon fandom, saying “how great this band is at evolving and trying new things”. We get it. Just shut up.
Falling in Reverse, MGK (not metal, but fandom is still annoying as hell) and Ice Nine Kills are guilty of having a fandom that’s a pain.

As someone who has cried every single time I've seen Ice Nine Kills (6 times so far) I absolutely respect the cringe aspect of their band. It's kinda funny. They fully embrace the amount of money they make from horror stuff. They write only songs about horror movies now, they release horror movie based merch every single month on the 9th (nightmare on the 9th of course), they even made their own horror convention (Silver Scream Con). I like listened to them at 13 when they were first releasing the horror stuff so I thought it was the coolest thing ever. 18 now and still a fan, saw the old, sad, and cringe tour a few days ago. Absolute fair assessment of the fans, also my experience with them has been cringe (except for 1 or 2 fans). But yeah I agree, cringe type of band and cringe type of fans. Glade to see Finn McKenty favorite male crush on this list. I don't know why Finn defends Ronnie so much. Guy's the biggest baby with a lot of money and a celebrity wife still has a pretty big fan base probably thanks to Finn, and still flips out if someone says something negative about his shit music. Like you know it's sad when Justin Bieber at his youngest acts more mature then you, and people were way worse on him. Like most adults even kids in the music community already knows how to deal with this kind of thing. They know not everyone's going to be super positive all the time about their music. Ronnie for some reason doesn't get it.

What people shame ronnie for like the criminal record, they have the story wrong, but wanna talk shit, so i get ronnie reacting, thats HIS life theyre getting wrong. The mic stand thing he said was dumb and ronnie apologized. Was dumb but he apologized. Sometimes ronnie is actually open as ruck to criticism but if it sounds like youre coming at his sound what can he do about it? But i can agree he shouldnt be SO supportive but id say hes definitely a personality and it makes him interesting if not likeable

I can live with yall not being that into Pain Remains cause my only gripe with it is the unnecessary amount of breakdowns just for shock and gasp factor pretty much catering to youtube reactions nowadays🤣. Some of them felt like...ok is the song over? Oh, nope, breakdown number 5 even lower growls, is it over now?
I cant speak for the fandom because I am someone who is pretty much encapsuled in his own world, I dont interact with online fandoms really but I totally can picture fans being really nasty considering "THIS IS THE FIRST ALBUM THAT HAS A DEATHCORE BALLAD???!!!" That thought had me cringing so hard from multiple reaction channels. I love Will and I have been a fan of Lorna Shore since their days of Flesh Coffin which, Im sorry but it still is my number 1 LS album to this day, no amount of sad deathcore will change that. While I would include Pain Remains in my top 10 albums of 2022...yes, it gets a bit repetitive in some parts and thats ok.

Major Shadow of Intent fan here, and I thought your perspective on Elegy was meaningful. I absolutely adore that album, but I think there’s a few minor points (like waiting until 3 mins for the solo on Reconquest), that could have made that album a perfect 10 if incorporated.
I think the reason Shadow of Intent is super chill but Lorna Shore is Unhinged deals with the types of fans they attract. SoI is basically a healthy dose of OG Melodic Death Metal and classic Death Metal blended into a Deathcore base. They use traditional syncopated breakdowns, power thrash runs, emotive athematic choruses and generally don’t overplay the *trends* so to speak. Fit for an Autopsy use deathgrind/core fused rolling breakdowns, groove pacing, and tonal Gojira-like growls, again some OG meets modern sensibility. With Lorna Shore, no doubt a good band, but they are pretty much taking what’s been done for about 12 years now and simply improved it. It’s good but not original in the same sense. Then you get the fact that their fan base is just hugeeeeeeee!!! I think their blackened style (overdone) plus fan base thinking they can do no wrong = toxic brew.
The overdone style will ALWAYS attract some criticism. As you pointed out, they hype (partly because they are so huge), is just inviting some level of criticism. It is what it is, but perhaps those fans exploring some more original sounding Death Metal / Deathcore bands would do them some good 😌

i love slipknot. they were a major gateway band for me getting into metal, but when subliminal verses vol. 3 came out i didn't like it. i know that they wanted to try something different, but for me it had maybe 3-4 songs tops i enjoyed, and just never came back. need to give in another chance since i was in high school when it came out. i've aged quite a bit so maybe i'll have a better appreciation for it ? their latest record after i listened to it 1 time i felt it was meh, and forgot about it almost the next day. we are not your kind however i did enjoy, but like the new one after listening to it once i forgot all about it.
as for the worst to me it's the hardcore dancing kids at shows. i swear they get all pissed off when they hit in the pit by other people doing the same exact kung fu fight kicks and crap.. like what your getting mad it dude.heck i've seen places who will throw them out if they start that hardcore dancing. what's worse is a local venue i went to got shut down for a day b/c of fights breaking out due to the hardcore dancing, and it lead not only to the show being shut down midway thru, but the venue flat out stating they will never book metal shows again b/c of them. also there may have been a little underage drinking, but mostly it was the numerous fights that brought the cops, and leading to the ban.

I do think INK is very good as a huge horror fan myself, but I 1) I can understand that it isn't everyones cup of tea and they somewhat skimp on lyricism (as much of their material is prewritten for them by the movie industry), and 2) their hardcore fanbase is awful. I really enjoy their music but the fanbase acts as if INK made some sort of breakthrough to a new genre when really all they did was write about stuff that was already written

Music is objective there’s no such thing as good or bad music , just music. The rest is insane subjective commentary I’ve never understood the need for. I went to see Metallica in 1988 and I had short hair. I can tell you that was a sobering experience of judgement and misunderstood emotions. People preferring to stand for an image rather than enjoy a revolutionary band of the time…😊

Imagine having an opinion and understanding that you’re not objectively right. Crazy concept in this community apparently, given the comments I’ve seen on some of y’all’s videos.
But seriously, the worst fanbases I’ve come across (other than NSBM scumbags) are the ones that just plain hate each other. Bring Me The Horizon and Opeth are the worst contenders. I literally cannot go into their comment sections without experiencing a keyboard duel between losers with nothing better to do over which albums are good and which ones suck. Like, no one cares about your opinion. These people achieve nothing.

my favorite bands here are Lorna Shore and Spiritbox*, but I don't really fuck with fandoms, so I can't speak to either's toxicity, eh. I just listen to the music, share my thoughts, occasionally converse about the music, and then dip.
I dunno why people can't just chill the fuck out, y'know. (I do, it's mostly teenagers and middle-aged dudes with Punisher tees in their pfp's.) I literally do not care if someone doesn't like a band I like, unless they act like a dick about it, but that goes for any case in which someone's being a dick over liking or disliking a band (even if I agree with someone acting an ass).
*no, I don't necessarily love lots of production. the overproduction was Eternal Blue's only weak spot imo, tho I do think the thick production compliments Pain Remains excellently. I love my raw black metal albums that were recorded in a condemned house on a budget of two Slim Jims, and which only two other people have purchased on Bandcamp (where said raw bm albums in question are exclusive to), as much as anyone else.
