I have two separate systems installed and warrantied by Titan solar including a main panel upgrade. Solar Edge monitors the system and is carrying the warranty for the inverters, however they don't cover the labor. The panels were white labeled and sold as Titan branded panels. I am at a loss here on what to do since I no longer have a labor and parts warranty for the racking systems, panels, or labor for these pieces and parts... Titan Solar was supposed to be legit, I had good luck with them in 2020 and decided to use them again last year for out expansion. I am hoping for a class action lawsuit to handle costs involved with the labor warranty loss.
If there is any good news to come out of this, your racking and the panels are the least likely components to have issues. The inverters are where issues typically occur.
The situation I find myself is the manufacturer, SunPower, has declared chapter 11. Hoping as part of the buyout of assets I get some kind of warranty. But almost more importantly is the data they’ve collected over the years. I’d hate to lose it as it let me know if my panels are still working properly. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
I am in the same boat. I am actually also a Solar installer, and put in my own and a few dozen other Sunpower, Enphase and SolarEdge systems. It's interesting being on the receiving end of it at this point. My hope is that there is a way to hack into the Power Line Communications, so that at the very least I can keep an eye on the microinverters. It is still very possible to set yourself up with a SENSE system that has an input for Solar Production, so you get a Third Party monitoring of your Production AND home consumption numbers. (Other home energy monitoring systems are also available) If inverters start to die off, the most likely scenario will be to change out for another Inverter system, likely Enphase Microinverters or a SolarEdge String Inverter.. It means lifting all modules in the array, to replace or remove and restring your panels.. and as you all might guess, this is something almost NO homeowner is willing or equipped to do properly. I'm not entirely jazzed at the prospect myself! Relating to the Video Topic.. my prior company was failing and was bought out.. and the company that picked us up was ok for me for a couple years, but I have just quit, and will be looking for a different job soon. Best of luck to you, fellow Sunpower owner(s)!
So, not only do I have to find a new company, I'm going to have to pay them for their services on top of the $50,000+ bill that I have with the financial company for having the panels installed! So much for government assistance!!!
This is why I've come to the conclusion that when I finally do solar, I'll be installing it myself and understanding the system from head to toe. I'm not going to rely on anybody else. Or, I just won't get solar.
It's good to know all you can know.. but it's also pretty useful to have a company, and just another set of eyes on your gear, including people who are seeing the myriad of issues, so they have a broad view of the brand and of ongoing or newfound issues and fixes available. There are a LOT of detailed tricks in the trade, as this gets into Roofing, Carpentry, Electronics, Internet Communications, and custom programming and commissioning options for each type of system. Make a buddy in the trade, if you can, maybe you know a guy who knows a guy and can get him/her to show you the tricks or do some weekend work WITH you...
90% of Solar companies go out of business. Solar for a future is a joke. Like you said this was a top company. So sad that the Gov. will push this for the future and will make you go broke.
Although several recent "major" solar companies have failed, this does not mean all solar companies are bad. There are lots of solar companies that are well-run, financially stable, and doing things the right way to position themselves for long-term success. Companies fail in every industry.

What about the warranty from manufacturer not from the installer
The manufacturer's warranties would still be good if the installer goes out of business.

Unfortunately, that is the case. It truly stinks!

Are people still responsible for their loan if there solar company went bankrupt??
The likely answer is yes. However, it's hard to say for sure without knowing your loan details.
I could not find a solar maintenance provider in my area. Are you in my area?
@@rowenadinsmore1 we service the following states: PA, DE, MD, VA, NY, OH, and NJ.
Titan Solar was legitimate and they still left us out to dry
