The black woman is simply beautiful, I feel her truth spoke well throughout the interview, she’s probably have the most realest answer. Her beauty is the biggest threat, if funny how they say “dark skin” to her when she’s lighter then the Indian lady (brown) is actually “darker”, lol.
It’s interesting being referred to as having “dark(er) skin” here… when my skin is light…I’ve never heard that my skin was “darker” in my life until I lived in Korea 😂 isn’t it interesting?
This comment is not pretending to Korea but it's pretending to part of your comment: That's why in this day and age when I'm seeing some Indian people calling themselves brown people and some of those Indian people have darker complexion than the people you call black it's weird because I consider Indian as black people because anybody who has skin tone that isn't like white people I consider them as black and if you do not want to call yourself black because you think it only mean African people or African descendants then just call yourself Indian. Same with some Hispanic Latino and Mexican people calling themselves brown people and their skin tone is literally not Brown.
The black girl stood out for me. She wasn't scared to speak the truth. Also the guy who interviews them is sweet. He was so nice to her especially & uplifted her spirit.
Yeah but I literally felt like she's that typa American who thinks Asia is just china , japan and korea. It's literally the biggesr continent in the world, why the hell would these ppl think this way!
Westerners needs to stop the Black idolizing and putting them on pedestals, just to make up for White guilt. Or if you're not than you still need to stop it.
Not to be thirsty or offensive, but the woman with the box braids has a strong beauty about herself even with the mask on. Intelligence and soft spoken is definitely attractive even on the friendship side. A conversation can tell you more about a person’s beauty than your eyes can. Whoever is passing up on her in Korea because of beauty standards, you’re possibly missing out on a woman you could have long deep conversations and just chill with. I’d imagine the interviewer felt that as well. Subscribed
@@jaynhealth6744 Well to be honest, I do believe she struggles in regards to some people misreading her and thinking she’s just someone to use for pleasure instead of a serious relationship. Stereotypes or ignorance of who she really is I can only assume. I keep in mind that she is in Korea, so like Japan I can see them favoring European features in their beauty standards. However, I’m sure there’s some good men there who may want to pursue her beyond those standards, but they may be timid, shy, or thinking of what people would say, so they don’t approach with that intention. They may also just come on too strong in their approach or not reciprocate that interest. As a black man myself going to Korea next year, I would not be hesitant to ask someone like her darker or lighter to get a cup of coffee, dinner, and go to a record store or something. I think some people may overthink dating and forget that getting to know the person is where the longevity resides. External beauty’s worth can fade quicker than anything seen before with one bad internal projection. Everyone has their own preference though, intelligence and God fearing over color or external features for me personally.
@@ninjainyaear5945 You right NIYAE. However, "beauty standards along with plastic surgery, you can run out of skin! Oh, yes, I forgot there are "other parts" of the body to chisel.😂! "Shallow Beauty," fades. "Internal Beauty"( good title for a K-drama🤔) has "longevity and substance!" Shine🦊🐾
And like you said it: she has a mask on. So no one here actually knows if she's pretty or not. I think everyone here has experienced meeting people during the pandemic and thought that they look hot but once they removed their mask... **cough**
Just a tip. Stop saying black people are “well spoken”. It’s offensive. It suggests that we are stupid or sound dumb usually….but this black person speaks well to YOUR standard. Stop saying that it’s NOT a compliment. We more than likely code switch anyway. I really can’t believe you just said “well spoken and articulate “ 🤦🏾♀️ wtf
@@virgomess5515 I didn't have a bad intention when I said this. Well, maybe I wasn't educated enough to know that this is how you guys perceive this kind of compliment. I'm sorry that it hurt you.
Some ppl dying to have dark skin while others discriminate black ppl ... In Africa being thin isn't attractive at all . Beauty standards are different everywhere and you don't have to meet every standard to be beautiful .. you're beautiful just the way you are wherever you are ppl will stare cuz u're different but that doesn't mean u're ugly its better to accept ppl have different beauty standards.
@@bmwjourdandunngoddess6024 Not totally. A thicker woman has always been the beauty standard, but colonization did contribute to the beauty standard of pale skin but more people are learning to appreciate their natural skin.
@@bmwjourdandunngoddess6024 the standard was the lighter the skin the better you would be treated because the colonizers treated people the same way. If you want to learn more you can look up African post-colonization beauty standard.
So proud of my (the) young sista (sister). She has a clear understanding of what it means to be a Black woman in a world that wants to make you less-than. She AIN'T having none of it!! Maybe it's bc I've been here longer, but I've had a few racist experiences, and all of them occurred during my first 2 years in Korea (2016-2018). I was yelled at on 2 separate occasions on the subway (just sitting quietly, minding my own business) for being a foreigner and 'to go back to my country." And I've been told I couldn't be let into a nice bar/club bc I was a foreigner. I've also been grabbed on the street bc some Korean guy who thought that was ok (he wanted to practice his English), and I've been followed into the subway (where I had to hide out in a bathroom to get him to stop following me). So I consider all these women lucky. Maybe Korea has gotten better the last few years.
You are so right Sarah. People especially foreighn girls misunderstood that korea is safe. But in fact, korean guys and korean uncles think foreign girls as sex object they want just for one night stand. Korea is safe only guys like me who is not handsome enough
ur hve had horrific stalkng experinc its creepy nd scary ( is this something common in korea bcz i see in kdrama as well as people in nd out of korea sayng this a lot its scary af😨nd this does happen around the world i guess good nd bad exist evrywer how worth is it to visit south korea

I lived in Korea for 6 years and as an overweight person I was called a pig (돼지) more times than I could count. It was mainly kids that did that, so I think if you stay downtown you should be ok. Adults were not as rude but I was often told what I should or shouldn’t be eating. I don’t feel the people featured in the video, apart from one, have been in Korea long enough to have had negative experiences yet.
Today, bullying is present in any country you go to. Anything that is different from the rest attracts the attention of the eyes and directs the brain towards judgment, framing. For adults, education, common sense, character immediately intervene...they have the power to stop aggression. Children are very direct, for them there are no subtle nuances, they can hurt easily, especially when they are in the herd..
@@laksshan7912 So did you see south korea as a perfect country back then? I'd still visit south korean someday to experience their great urban landscape
The lady with the braids I Loved her , I wish her interview was an hour could listen to her speak all day. Just loved the way she expressed her thoughts 😁✌
I never care... I am black and when in any country that is not my same skin color, I wear my beauty like a crown. sitting here in Thailand right now and I was invited to two parties, but I am so different. I cooked apple cobbler, cabbage, corn on the Cobb, homemade mashed garlic and onion potatoes, and fried bread... I shared it with some of the hotel staff and that was it. They go out their way to conversate with me and try to meet me where ever I am going. No issues and if there are some, I am too busy being an African Queen to even notice.
Yess I love this because I feel the same, it took me a while to love the skin I’m in but you described it perfectly “wearing our beauties as a crown” I am going to carry that mindset everywhere I go
The black woman with a mask is very beautiful, flawless brown skin and very beautiful eyes. She is smart and intelligent. Koreans need to open their eyes wisely!
It's good that he interviewed women of different ethnicities, but the question about discrimination wasn't a good fit for the ladies who have only been there for two weeks. It takes time to really take notcie of these things. The beautiful sista with the twists had the most credible responses due to living there for 4 years and I could completely relate to her because I lived in China for a year, Thailand for 6 months (and visited South Korea for a month). I definitely wasn't the preference and it was evident when I was dating. As a Black or Brown woman in Asia the attention that you get is mostly due to fetishization and that's not the type of attention that anyone would want tbh. ☮❤Peace
"I don't think I've had any social advantages being a Black person." Lol,funny...but also very true and sad. 😢I've lived in several countries, but the only one where it's an "advantage" from my experience is Brazil, and it's only cause it's a lot more diverse and I can blend in with society withoout anyone knowing I'm American. :)
I really want to visit South Korea, but I felt being a “plus size” woman that I would be ridiculed and stared at, but this video has helped me realise that beauty is in so many forms and it’s not my problem it’s other peoples skewed view and insecurities! I’m gonna go visit, have an amazing time and look good doing it 😌
If you were going to China I would say yes be worried but from my own experience in s Korea people generally do not state or openly ridicule. Dating might be hard though

Thanks for pointing this out because I'm a black lady but sorta brown like the lady on the interview and also I'm a plus size as well I was getting worried about racism and all that beauty standard but I realized that hey it shouldn't affect me since I'm not Asian or anything like that everyone is unique and beautiful
Black people around the world are so gorgeous regardless of what pple have as their beauty standards bc they like to bring down black pple’s beauty as if it’s ugly when it isn’t. Either way beauty is everywhere and isn’t just in one group of people. It’s time humans accept that bc everyone comes in different shades, height and body.
I live now here in korea for almost 7 years. Exactly what they said we should know the people around us. We have to learn korean language for us to easy communicate koreans. Language/ communication is very important. Year 2012, I also experienced discrimation about my skin color. But that time they thought I didn't understand their language. And after hearing what they said about my skin color, I confronted them. And tell them UNDERSTAND EVERYONE DIFFERENCES.
As an African-American I can say honestly I have mixed feelings about the Korean beauty standard-particularly the emphasis on pale skin. In our country there is a history of White supremacy in which skin tone was a core feature. Think whiteness as a sign of purity & darkness representing dirty, low or savage. It took us more than 100 years after slavery ended in 1865 to define "beauty" for ourselves. We used the pride in ouselves & the celebration of our culture to affect popular culture within the U.S. and around the world. I am so proud of our profound influences on arts, literature, music, sports and cinema over the last 60 years. I refuse to give up that sense of myself. I refuse to ask my wife & daughter, my sisters, in-laws, extended family or my African-American community to ever again subjugate themselves to any standard that denies our African-American beauty-in all our shades/colors. As one of my close friends said during a recent discussion among us Af-Am men, it does not matter whether the denial is active or passive-the effects still result in racism. And that racism is a strong as anything a racist White person would have thrown at us in 1950s Alabama. I love the South Korea I have seen through Kdramas and TH-cam videos such as this one. I would love to one day travel to South Korea to see the actual place where these stories are set. But I am already mentally braced to accept the fact that for someone like me, a dark skinned African-American, as far as acceptance, I would be better accepted by members of other races in any major metro of the U.S. than in South Korea. I firmly believe my capacity to accept South Koreans in their full range of physical characteristics, not just the Korean beauty standards, is way stronger than the average South Korean's capacity to accept what I or people who look like me represent in terms of physical presentation. I think there are some beautiful and attractive South Koreans, with or without the Korean beauty standard. I just don't want to go backwards in terms of the White-African American-Native American-Latino-Asian American beauty diversity present in America. Our beauty palette runs from the palest White to the darkest Black and from skinny girls to thick women. There is someone at every spectrum whose beauty will leave you speechless. We're like a freaking explosion of colors & complexions & sizes and it's beautiful!
@web nerd I’m not sure where you’ve traveled. But here in the U.S. Black people come in all shades including nearly translucent white. Due to the history of slavery & White exploitation of Black slave women, nearly every Black American whose roots go back to the 1700s & 1800s had some percentage of White DNA. But we’re still African-Americans.
Korean beauty standard???? Or a nation affected by beauty inferiority complex?A nation were average people are pretty won’t even bother about any standard at all..
It is important to have a strong sense of self so that we are less critical of how we look and compare to others. The best we can do is to groom and look presentable. We should not feel the need to replicate anybody.
I just got back from a 2 week trip to Seoul. I feel like the black woman is truly blessed. My family and I were discriminated against almost daily. As soon as the sting from an incident died down, something else would happen and reopen the wound. I’m glad she was honest even though she may not have experienced it so directly. We need more people like this to share their truth so people of color can visit with a realistic expectation and make an informed decision on whether they’d like to travel there or not.
@@user_mll374 I truly appreciate your empathy. That’s something that can be hard to come by these days. Your kind words are noticed and appreciated. Thank you. 🥲
@@Multiversetraveler93 some people dont even realize they are being discriminated against until they think about it later....kinda felt like the brown girl was in this category. Your man on the street interviews are the best. Your questions are always well thought out and respectful to the person you are interviewing. I've subscribed and will keep watching.
OMG, I think it would be horrible to live in Korea if I couldn’t even find a simple thing as makeup to match my skin tone. More power to that beautiful black young lady. I am so glad I listened to this video. Thank you for sharing. Being short and very skinny with everyone looking the same is not attractive to many many people. This world is a mess.
Offensive when you say short and skinny and looking the same not attractive, this is inherent for asian women and they are beautiful. There's beauty in every culture.
As a Korean, there are a lot of fat and ugly people in Korea. It's good to be pretty, but it doesn't matter if you're ugly. I'm ugly too, but I get along well and I'm living my life. Korea is also a country where people live.
Korean people don't have the 50 shades + of skin tones like in the US. Why on earth do you expect them to cater their own beauty industry to a small minority of foreigners? Seriously? Do you expect them to cater to your countries menu also? Why travel if you expect everything and anything to be the same as your home country? Sorry, but that's not only naive, but a bit ignorant and ethnocentric. FYI in Seoul (capital of ROK) they have an area called Itaewon that has more diverse offerings in makeup, salon services, etc...
'Being short and very skinny with everyone looking the same is not attractive to many many people' lol. Listen to yourself before you complain about other's discrimination.
I really love your videos and your mentality. You always make the other person feel comfortable which brings me a sense of warmth when watching the videos. Much love from Venezuela
I love the two brown skin girls. Two contrast yet detailed, enlightening views spoken respectively. I’ve never been to Korea but I can relate to them because I am their colour
during whole video what i thought was damn how beautiful that girl with braid is, i understood that skin color doesn't really a matter, but your personality and confident matters, i see a huge confidence within a braid girl, she is amazing, i fell in love with her , all thank to her personality, i guess personality play major role in beauty
everyone was amazing. Very well done ladies!!!! And every single one of you are gorgeous and it was a very much needed topic to be discussed. We need to stop being boxed into this or that pattern. We all are very unique in our very own quirks.
Beauty standards are all around the world so there will be places where your beauty will accepeted and and in other places it will not be accepted...btw i love your videos ..love from india❤❤
That's what I've been thinking the whole interview (and other videos on the same topic). As a Brazilian, people expect me to be darker, have impactful black hair, be tall, have a hot body, and always be energetic. But I'm just 4'9, straight hair, honey skin, pretty skinny, and I'm also totally chill and calm. I don't fit into the beauty or behavior standards of my own country! lol So why should I be concerned about other people's country beauty standards? It's literally impossible to fit in because everyone is different, and that's the most beautiful thing in this world for me.
You’re missing the point lol. It’s not about conforming into their beauty standards but being left alone and feeling isolated by said beauty standards. If you went to my country you’d probably be considered unattractive but that doesn’t mean you should be treated bad because they feel that way?? Get it now??
I really like the way you interview people... Like being honest making them comfortable.. and all that hats off for making this much effort.. so that people can understand how the world works and all that... Thank youu
We are all beautiful and unique in our own way. Let's appreciate each other's culture and language. It would be a dull and boring world if we were all the same....
You see... beauty standards exists everywhere. However, IF the beauty standard determines your worth as human, then it's no longer beauty standards. It's plain bullying. People shouldn't be denied jobs because they don't fit the standards or be disrespected because they don't fit in. So what.. if you don't fit the standards it definitely means that you can't and shouldn't be happy? You shouldn't work for your daily bread? And that you deserve sadness only?
i think those of us who live in america espcailly black women tend to be more acepting of our personal feature due to the years of being discriminated negatively . yea there are also bueaty standards here but we try not to escribe them due to there are all types of women from all different back grounds from all different cultures we find our own and own it it is so sad that that in thier country it the norm that they are trying to fit in an impossible bubble which strip them of their unique personalities and their unique genetic traits that makes you you like no one else in the world why would you get rid of them to become a clone of someone else ideal of perfections. The world has brain washed alot of cultures with darker skin that white and light is better which is so sad

Every country, culture has always had its own standards of beauty. What is happening nowadays, is the fact that these standards have imposed themselves in the whole society, taking over the daily life of people, especially young people. Mass media, the Internet play a destructive role in this sense, creating a huge pressure on young people, imposing certain beauty templates that they must fit into. There are so many sad stories that led to serious depression and even suicide. Be that as it may, it is certain that everyone judges everyone... this has become something so natural and unhealthy! From your video, I liked the black woman from Missouri-USA the most, she has an intelligent spirit and free thinking. She has high emotional intelligence and clarity of thought, she is very realistic in everything she says. The soft tone of her voice, the fluidity and naturalness with which she expresses her ideas make her a very pleasant, warm person with whom you want to talk. In her company you will certainly never get bored, you will always have beautiful and pleasant things to share. I think that now, after 4 years of being in Korea, she is a little resigned to the situation in which she is. It was not at all easy for her, even if she seems brave, I think she has a deep bitterness that she carries in her soul. As she says, she has a strong psyche and is able to face this loneliness... that's the only way she will last for a long time, even though it's not healthy at all for her psyche. People are social beings who need communication, socialization. It will probably take a long time until humanity learns the true meaning of the words: tolerance, acceptance, love of one's neighbor regardless of race, concepts of life. I really like your channel, I subscribed!

Great interviews for once again Jin. I really like your content. Its been 3 years since my wife and I visited Seoul. We didn’t do a lot of research beforehand when we visited and our experience was very nice. We have Indian roots but also have roots in Surinam South America. We’re born and bred in The Netherlands. Kinda all the place haha! Anyway, our experience is I’m guessing a typical positive, touristic experience. People were very helpful and friendly. My wife had the same problem with the make-up thing though so she didn’t get to take some with her. Although skincare and such eased the pain for her. We didn’t stay for very long; about 10 days but we didn’t experience any racism while we were there. We didn’t go clubbing but we did walked around and it was quite fun. In all, we don’t fit the korean beauty standard but in our short experience it didn’t affect our experience visiting. We would like to visit again for a longer period. We’ll see how that goes.
According to K.B.S. (not KBS hahaa), I’m ugly & basically, if I’m with friends & all of them were considered prettier than me so I got ignored a lot. Worst experience was someone turning their chair away from me & towards my friend at the time though I was the one speaking for her cause she can’t Korean & he was just treated me as if I was background noise lmao Psychologically, it’s once distorted my views on myself & I actually thought that I was deadass ugly so I only bought skin whitening/brightening skincare & I purposely bought 2-4 shades of foundation lighter that made me grey cause I’d only bought Korean brands that don’t cater to skin tones lmao BUT I’M MY BEST VERSION OF MYSELF NOW, NO THANKS TO KOREA HHAAHHAAHAHHAA But yeah, my advise to anyone who’s ever asked me about this is to NEVER let what anyone else says be your truth & change your mind about yourself. Nobody can make you into something you’re not.
Black is just so beautiful and so unique... I think the whole world is quite jealous and curious of where this dark skin came from ....so to settle their fears...they hate on... But we blacks are just full of love ....we just love and appreciate all colours and races in the world..... As she said...it's just not fair..!
The more I watch this kind of interviews the more I'm afraid to visit Korea 😔 Would people will stare at me because I'm not skinny enough or dress well enough. And if i will wear a bigger cleavage or a strap dress without a t-shirt under everyone would give be a weird look? It's hot there most of the time and I'm not used to hide my skin when it's hot and i like to tan also. Guess i should come in winter ☺️
Lilly Lilly, it might be refreshing for the Korean men to see a female whom looks different. I'm covered in tattoos and when I went to Japan alot of men came up and wanted to take a pic with me and commented how cool I look !! That really surprised me.
People might stare at you SIMPLY for being foreigner. Nobody in Korea expects foreigners to fit in korean beauty standards, or korean culture. You can do anything you want and dress how you want. You are a foreigner. Period. A non-korean. There are ZERO beauty standards or style clothing standards for you. The beauty pressure is for Koreans. Not for foreigners and definitely not visitors on a trip!!

I am so sorry, my loves. I absolutely love this country, like, its places and culture and the foods and its entertainment stuff but, but... I draw my line when it comes to these so-called beauty standards. I am so sorry but why are they even standards, I seriously don't know. This country's policies (if they are behind this, else people) are not setting a good example.. not infront of the adults and definitely not in front of the kids. My countrymen too have been obseesed with fair skin but it is being called out by the younger generations which is needed and it's a good thing. Things require change and change must be mad.
Because let's be clear.. if anyone judges you on the basis of your looks.. well, it pretty much clear what kinda fellas they are. That attitude says A LOT about such folks. And such folks... should DEFINITELY be out of your life. It's better that way. It is lonely, it gets lonely, it will get lonely. But, you don't need to hanging out with folks of that kind. Good folks will find good folks. Xoxo. ^^

I couldn't agree more with this is like erasing their ancestors because if you look for pictures of koreans before they have squared face and their eyes looks small I guess but they are beautiful that way I don't understand this standard they are creating for themselves.
Exactly! Some people really are just born very pale but I swear most of the kpop idols I see are whitening their skin. If you look at any of their childhood pictures compared to now, they look like they’ve gotten 7 shades lighter. It’s very disturbing :(
Truth. There's variety in trees...flowers.. animals....it's not natural gor humsns to also look like clones.....Nothing wrong with a preferences; we all have them even if we usually end up with people vastly different from our intisl ideals lol..but discriminating just because someone does not fit is just awful..... And yes, most Asian women are naturally short and petite , so can't fault them for that. I'm African American , Native American, Irish & Scottish. But I can understand because although I'm a mixed race American, I am also very short ( 4'10" rounded up lol) & very petite ( 80 lbs). Most men I know like taller thick curvy women. While I do have curves for how small I am, I do not fit the typical American black man's beauty standard. If I didn't have a naturally long hair, butt & C- cup chest on my small frame, I probably wouldn't be noticed at all lol... So it's all relative. Preferences are normal & natural. But when a society has everyone literally permanently altering their looks to all look the same...it's boring sad & bland....
@@imsoshockaid That saddens me so much! I think all shades are beautiful from darkest dark to lightest white, but when NATURAL. Dark people bleaching & white people rising skin cancer tanning...it's just so dumb .... I cannot stand the whitewashed photos of kpop stars & Kdrama actors & actresses. For example I absolutely adore Kim Taehyung's natural golden honey skin. Growing up my preference was Latino guys. And to me his natural skin tone is very similar. That skin... with the shiny beautiful black hair drives me crazy lol...It's what attracted me to him. But yet...in his own country...that's something not appreciated....on the other hand Suga is naturally pale..yet he also STILL is often white washed!....
To the young Malay woman, don't worry I don't think they look at you wearing a hijab because you look weird. Most people can tell that you are Malay/Muslim, so they are more likely to be curious since they don't get many chances to come across someone like that in real life, unless they are travelling to SE Asia. I think she has a kind and gentle disposition, seems like a nice person.
Every country has their own beauty standards and it is ridiculous to try and change it or force people to find you attractive. If you aren't attractive to a person, so what? It is natural to not find everyone or a single person attractive. There are billions of people in the world, someone will find you attractive.
This is such a shallow way of thinking. Extreme beauty standards literally affect the way people treat you as a human being, job opportunities, violence, etc. Beauty standards don’t and have never stopped at dating. Reducing it down to “people finding you attractive” is the exact reason why we’re not moving forward.
@@hueyfreeman8865 I understand what you are saying, and it's horrible that extreme forms of oppression, violence, occur due to extreme beauty standards however, each country has their own beauty standards and we shouldn't expect them to force people to find people they don't naturally find attractive attractive. People will find others attractive even if they do not represent one's own countries beauty standards. However, going to a homogeneous country where being as light as milk is the beauty standard asking them if they find POC attractive, is imo like asking for brownie points. Korea does indeed have their own issues with colorism, which makes it extremely hard for tan Koreans, however they need to solve their own problems first, with their own people, rather than to tackle POC beauty standard issues. Each race, culture, ethnicity, mostly dates their own, however that doesn't mean that these different groups won't find others outside their own groups attractive. The bottom line for me is, we shouldn't be shaming people for what they find attractive, who they naturally like, shouldn't force people to find ppl they don't find attractive, force people to sleep with ppl they don't find attractive, force people to procreate, date, people they don't fix attractive etc.
You’re saying a lot of nothing! Most Asians prefer white skin, blue eyes and blonde hair due to brainwashing and indoctrination through tv,media, magazines etc. STop acting like you don’t see or know what’s been going on for around 50 years now. PEople all around the world bleach their skin to look more Caucasian. It’s now happening fo my country in Africa. You need to get out of your small bubble more and see REALITY that affects a lot of us people of colour.
@@Marigold_1998 I acknowledge that the world is affected by euro centric beauty standards, however, despite that you cannot force people to find other people they don't naturally find attractive, attractive. You can't force people to sleep with people they don't organically feel horny for, to be blunt and that's that.
As an African lady, I feel sad about this. Especially the part where they speak of the "Korean beauty standard" I've always loved the Korean culture and I've also been learning their language. But hearing what these beautiful ladies had to say about Korea, makes me sad. I am yet to research more about Korea. Thank you for this interview because it has helped me be more open minded about Korea.
So what?
hahah yeah from a black person point of view. She is light brown and not *dark skin*
This comment is not pretending to Korea but it's pretending to part of your comment:
That's why in this day and age when I'm seeing some Indian people calling themselves brown people and some of those Indian people have darker complexion than the people you call black it's weird because I consider Indian as black people because anybody who has skin tone that isn't like white people I consider them as black and if you do not want to call yourself black because you think it only mean African people or African descendants then just call yourself Indian. Same with some Hispanic Latino and Mexican people calling themselves brown people and their skin tone is literally not Brown.

Can't believe she would struggle in dating, without even seeing her full face she looks very pretty. Imagine for women even darker than her.

I don’t feel the people featured in the video, apart from one, have been in Korea long enough to have had negative experiences yet.
Today, bullying is present in any country you go to. Anything that is different from the rest attracts the attention of the eyes and directs the brain towards judgment, framing. Wikolia- Point emphasized! Throw the "Mike down" ! Yes, uh huh!. Shine 🐾🦊☝🏾

As a Brazilian, people expect me to be darker, have impactful black hair, be tall, have a hot body, and always be energetic. But I'm just 4'9, straight hair, honey skin, pretty skinny, and I'm also totally chill and calm.
I respect those who are not afraid to wear their ( religious clothing), ( culture characteristic) .. especially when you’re in a country that it’s not very common to see someone dressed like you .
salute to the Malaysian girl 🧕🏻,& to all those who wear their identity proudly 💕.
She looks beautiful, may Allah swt give her strength to keep her pious beautiful self confident. Ameen
I respect those who resist their religious clothes 😅 women have got freedom not to wear them.
@@Anne-yw9kg a belief is a choice , to follow something is a choice . No one is forced to do anything .. them wearing religiously never harmed you or your freedom , so no need to be uptight about it .
it’s considered a compliment in this vdo to dress like that because it takes courage and dedication to do so .
just respect other people’s choices and keep your mocking to yourself please . No one dragged you to wear like anything here .
Well , if you willingly living in a society that you don’t like, it’s not your home, and you can leave if you want, why wouldn’t you do that, sometimes people say stuff that is not right.
@@Sneakyhorse12 We cannot know what are the real reasons why she is staying in that country. She was honest and told her short life story in Korea...
Because of flights, boats, bridges and all modes of transportation, we as humans can now meet, learn, accept and marry unto other cultures. I personally love having friends from other countries, even if I don’t make it to the other side of the world, I can learn from those that make it to my side of the world. Single Korean men you have an awesome, amazing opportunity to meet and speak with various beautiful women from around the world that has chosen your country to visit and to gain an education. I agree with I am Groot, the black woman and the Singaporean woman are articulate, but I say beautiful as well. Step up and speak with these beautiful women of colour and take a chance. Four years, and none of you are taking a chance to say hi/ annyeonghaseyo, I would love to get to know you.
I love your videos, very good questions and very insightful on Korean culture
The black woman's voice is damn soothing
I've been watching a few interviews of yours, but I really like that they are serious, so I can appreciate the sincere and realistic words of the interviewees.
Have a nice day!
The young lady with the dread locks is definitely Gorgeous 💕 I can only imagine her with out the mask. All these woman speak honestly and all questions were answered with thought and from experience. I admire them all for been so brave to step out into the unknown. They are all beautiful and intelligent. Love you all.💕 Thank you Mr Jin🤗
Only people who don't feel good in their own skin or have low self-esteem will be bothered about the beauty standards. Be proud of your skin, whether it's white, brown, yellow or black. Wear it with pride. Ladies remember there is only one gorgeous unique you, a very special pearl in Lord Jesus our Saviours Crown.
It’s normal and okay to feel affected. Outside validation is a real thing. No need to shame people who are affected

Edit: the girl in braids exceed the korean beauty standard...
The black lady is sooo beautiful!!! She has such a perfect face ❤
Nice questions. Well done the KC Mo girl. Love your braids too and your answers. I love the way she is so secure. At the right time, God will bring you the right person.
Why should this happen everyone is BEAUTIFUL. It should not matter YOUR COLOUR OF YOUR SKIN SHOULD NOT MATTER. JUST BE YOURSELF. 🦋
I like that black girl in braids. Her answers made my day.
I don't think fair color is a sign of beauty. Every one is beautiful and i am also dark toned and i don't have any problem with my dark color. and dear you make a very intresting video i loved to watch it
I'm shocked to see someone from my hometown Kansas City. Congratulations on getting out the country!
These beauty standards are really unhealthy, people need to embrace their individuality and appreciate diversity!
Please make a video on "age" concept like do korean guys like to date older girls or younger girls? At which age they get married?
That's a really good idea. I'll cover it one day. Thanks :)
@@JinsStreetInterview thank you...we will wait 😊
My Black sister made me shed tears when she said that she is not their preference. Gosh, that hurts!
Why does that hurt? Korean Men preferring their own race of Women hurt you?
@Cat Ok great, I like Korean Men, I'm going to book my ticket to Korea. Do you have any suggestions on which spot I would get the most success?
@Cat Ok thank you 😁
lol. I have always been the one that’s different. If everyone is wearing blue. I will show up in bright yellow. When Apple first came out. I was still rocking blackberry. I never cared to fit in. I guess I have my mom to thank for that. My mom would say the same is boring. Be different. If you want what everyone else want you would have a hard time getting it. So I would play with the kids other kids didn’t want to play with. They wanted Chanel. I wanted FUBU ( 90’s clothesline). I am still like this today. I go the opposite of what the majority likes.
I know one thing for sure If one is lucky enough to have been taught,That you have to love yourself ,and bueaty is more than an outer pkg.And to never judge your worth by someone elses standards. That insde have to be full of confidence. That is the only way to go❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
American woman, PREACHED!
Beauty is the Eye of Beholder different culture have their own standards of beauty.
It’s mostly because your are foreigner they stare at you.not necessarily for your style.
Lilly Lilly, it might be refreshing for the Korean men to see a female whom looks different. I'm covered in tattoos and when I went to Japan alot of men came up and wanted to take a pic with me and commented how cool I look !! That really surprised me.
You'll be ok. You're white. They covet whiteness.
1, You are a "beautiful person"! Unlike the "nut job" that he or she said, "they hate foreigners!" 🙄 Thank you "beautiful person," pls continue to have that "beautiful mindset!" S H I N E!🦊🐾
I love the conclusion of the black girl, she's so right! I felt compelled to leave a comment just to say that was really cool, haha
Xoxo. ^^

I remember the itaewon class series when their friend tries to enter the bar but he was push away bc he's black. so its really happening in korea.
LHADYVAMPIRE, I'm watching that. At first, they were leary! He started speaking Korean. He was born in Korea in the series. However, you saw a "mixed group" in that restaurant ( Danbam- something to that name). Anyway, you saw a "transgender, ex-convicts a girl that was super intelligent but didn't play, considered a tad bit psycho😂I liked her character, smart, confident; strong-willed.( one became an ex-convict(not by choice, the owner- played by Seo-joon ( sorry if I got the name wrong - He played the main character in the Hwarang series and V( BTS) was also in that series)just a little fyi. Loved this. Especially the pretty black girl. Everyone had an interesting perspective.
The Korean beauty standard is achieved via plastic surgery, like in a lot of countries around the world. Its pretty sad.
Kiran Holt! Yes, what's even sadder is the "suicide rate" from that "beauty standards." Also, "being bullied"! Smh🙆🏽
@@audreywright1101 Most of the suicide rates in Korea are elderly living alone. Most of the reasons for suicide among Korean students are because of study.
@@user-ju6xz7oy7y Wow, even sadder!😔 I hope that this would be recognized and the community could have some activities so that they wouldn't be alone!😔
Also, for the "students." They would have to "step away,"( take a break from studying; regroup; then go back to studying). A "good suggestion" is to "tackle the "harder subjects," first. Don't be "shy or embarrassed " to "Team Up "(Together Everyone Achieves More) with a "fellow student." Also, to "petition" the "teacher/professor " for assistance. SHINE🦊🐾
to me personally I don't find the vampire pale, anorexic looks desirable..I find the beauty standard where everyone looking alike is off putting and impossible to maintain long term..it appears there is no individually and most comform to be accepted.
It’s very disturbing :(
Also Korean people just happen to be smaller in general. Even the males. But yes some of them are skinny in an unhealthy way.
Really interesting subject !!

@@hueyfreeman8865yes but why should they think black is beautiful??
