Lake Salinas in Peru is part of the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve in Arequipa. Here you can find Peruvian salt flats surrounded by volcanoes. This place isn't as extensive as its famous counterpart in Bolivia, Salar de Uyuni, but it's definitely worth going to for a day trip. This video was shot on a half-day tour from Arequipa.
In the first part of the video I went to Colca Canyon on a day tour. I didn't like it because I had to get up so early, I had only slept two hours the night before. I woke up at 2:30 for a 3 AM bus that ended up being 45 minutes late. The day wasn't a total disaster though, I got great photos of Andean condors. Make sure to check them out on my instagram!
The second part of the video is just walking around Arequipa. There weren't many people out because most of the video was shot on Father's Day. Also, the following day, the entire state would be shut down due to restrictions.
The final part of the video, we go to Lake Salinas and the salt flats. On the way, I saw some llamas. You can also find alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos (I didn't mention this, I forgot about them!).
It's really a magical place, but just one of many in beautiful Peru! I hope travel to Peru picks up in the next few months!
