If you open any Punjabi TV channel... all you see is IMMIGRATION ads or programs or Trucker jobs ads. Punjab is so much notorious for this today. If you have Punjab mentioned in your passport or Turban in pic then there are more chances that you get questioned at immigration counters. I hope such videos and info reaches in MASSES specially in villages of Punjab. Youth is disappearing from Punjab villages and DRUGS and MISSIONARIES are destroying it's unique culture and whole future generation beyond recognition.

I am from Punjab and stayed in US for 6 years and then moved back.. analysed both cultures and implications..... have got one sense for sure that there is much more to loose than to gain when you move abroad.. entire generational shift and your children get completely disconnected from your motherland... they will never come back and your parents left to suffer alone as they dont feel like living abroad... Yes there is a lot of people moving abroad but that is a Mob Mentality... people will repent in coming years when their children refuse to return back and entire roots are disrupted... small gain for a lot of pain.. rest depends on mentality... many things can be done here if youth are taught the same rather than telling them bahar chale jao yahan kuch nai hai..

What's the point of this root and culture when your family can't even live healthy peaceful life in india ? Most polluted cities are in India. Most unsafe country for women. Most racist country in the world. Most corrupted politicians and government. What's the use of this culture when you can't form a functional society. Now blame everything to western colonizers. Keep in mind that there are two bridge from British era in my city still functional and carrying traffic across the river since Almost 150 years where as recently new built bridge was found broken even before inauguration day. That is incorrect - are you serious? Which world do you live in? Do you even know what is situation in Punjab at this current moment? It's your choice leaving US, but 'motherland' is only motherland if things were good in Punjab. What is another name for India Punjab? Charda Punjab (which means rising Punjab) From which angle do you see India Punjab is Charda Punjab? It's dropping day by day. As far as speaking of children, parents can make them disciplined. They have a lot more to gain then to lose. Pros living in US: more opportunities, more positivity, more cleanliness, more success. Cons: Yes, stress is there but that is everywhere. If children are mature disciplined they would definitely bring their parents here even if parents don't feel like living abroad it is much much better then India. Children can open up businesses in USA and spend more time with parents.

After studying both in India and outside India, one thing I can say for sure is that even if you can get into a decent Indian college, get in, grab the seat. Undergraduate education in India is far way better than undergraduate in the US. Now I am not talking about private colleges, most of which are absolute shit barring few like Thapar, Vellore, etc. If you guys plan to move abroad, after undergrad is the best time.

I said ‘decent’ Indian universities, not just any private college. Yes, the only advantage US gives you is good exposure and internships, which India is catching up in too. Also, an international student will always remain at some kind of disadvantage during UG as compared to his U.S. citizen counterparts. One of my friends did Physics undergrad from a U.S. university. Most of the REU opportunities during the undergrad were meant for American citizens and all he could get was one at his home university. Isliye, door se toh it looks all glittery, but only when you come here do you realize the ground reality.

This video is on point. I'm a Punjabi who has studied in Punjab as well as in Bangalore. I have seen the difference in the salary in Punjab and other cities like Bangalore, Pune, etc. I don't think that Punjab needs more colleges. What it needs is quality education which means that the current systems that are so focused on cramming and theory need to change. If the government of Punjab chooses to give some sort of incentive to big companies, more of them will come and of course, start ups and businesses opened by the youth are great for the growth and evolution of Punjab.

I am from Patiala, Punjab and I worked as Software Engineer in top tech company of India and my monthly salary was 1.40 Lakhs after taxes but my job location was Gurgaon. So anyways I had to leave my hometown and my parents in Punjab and I used to visit my hometown once in a month. If I want similar job profile in Chandigarh that is quite close to Punjab, I could only get 70-80k salary that too in 1 or 2 companies only. Now, I am going to pursue my masters in University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. So from my perspective, If I need to leave my hometown in India and work far way to grab a good salary then it is better to move abroad only where I can get better lifestyle, more opportunities and better environment to live as compared to Delhi NCR and other metro cities in India.

Can do gardening with your father on weekends. Gets help for house hold chores ..

If the opportunities in Punjab is less, why the youth of Punjab don’t try to find opportunity in other cities of India, where they don’t need to take hefty loans. The picture is not always rossy in abroad!! I am from Guwahati, we also face similar situation of lack of opportunities in Assam, but we try to explore education and jobs in other parts of the country. I found mine in Bangalore, studied and worked their for 5 years, now I moved to Toronto through my Company without spending a penny from my pocket. Here I found the truth about punjabi youth, their only focus is show off, cars, phones and branded cloths. So the reason of lack of opportunity is completely lame. There are abundance of opportunities in India, but to take those jobs, it requires talent and skills, which they don’t have or they don’t want to use their brain to acquire those skills. Instead they prefer doing physical jobs in Canada and pay their car and phone installments. Sharing what I have observed here. Thank you!!

The main reason for India partition was that our muslim "brothers" wanted another piece of land , a separate land for their community. Many muslim singers left india after this and went to punjab one of the most famous like Noor jehan . This is the only reason for partition. Jinnah , a muslim leader lead many rallies and for this and Mahatma Gandhi talked to british employees. British were TOLD to do so. That's why we see Mohammad Ali Jinnah on Pakistan currency.

Recent research conducted by HWA - Health Workforce Australia depicts that due to various factors like - an ageing workforce, an increasing rate of chronic diseases, and rising mental and other health issues there will be a shortfall of around 100,000 nurses by 2025, and it is presumed to be 123,000 by the year 2030. My plan was to go out for masters
But as my cousin i whose 6 years older than me say that it is better to stay here if you are top of the food chain when it comes to skills
He started working for startup with a package of 24 lacks for a start after 18 months he interviewed in another company and renegotiated the offer with the existing company and got 40 lacks after 6 months he left the company and got a remote job in a London based company 60 lacks before joining he interviewed for several other companies and got offer of 1cr ( and this 1 cr is pure money no stocks , insurance no bulshit ) total package was about 1.2 cr . Now he also started working on projects on contract he make about 80 lacks to 1 cr from there
And he is thinking of leaving the job and starting a firm
My point is that We live in 2023 now and not only engineers but accountants , consultants , consultant doctors are working from remote within the country and out of the country
My family doctor also consult patients in Dubai and UK
You just have to be skilled and relevant and yes you should be aware of the opportunity
And its 10 times better to make 2cr in India then making the same money in US
Because of obvious reasons like ppp
    Relatively cheaper blue collar workers
    Cheap food and fresh food
And the best thing weather ( compared to Europe and Canada)
Plus india is a developing like crazy so full of opportunities as my father owns a lot of real estate and is an architect and real estate will grow as india grow
Which you will not get in already developed countries
You can't ride the wave there
And as like suburban life more than a big city life so developing country or developed country lifestyle doesn't have difference for me
Then only deciding factor for me to move out is money which is sorted so
Mere liye toh india hi sahi hai
Dollar or euro kamao or rupee mai kharcho

I don’t know what is the reason, but really feel they need to improve in this area. This will help uplift their own state and create good opportunities just like recently emerging states like Karnataka and Telangana. Political will is very important. You have clarified very well why Punjabi people are leaving Punjab, but there is one thing worth mentioning that the Indian government has played a bigger role to empty Punjab. If the government had prevented drug smuggling and created new opportunities for people, they would not go out. Sikhs have suffered in 1984 holocaust and since then the diaspora has started. There are some more reasons like safety and education. People feel unsafe in Punjab, as we have had two recent incidents like Sidhu Moosewala and Deep Sandhu.

Brain Drain is good for India. As more people leave India, more job opportunities will be available for Indians within India.
Less traffic on roads due to fewer people travelling to the office every day on roads and in the metro
Fewer people in the metro and train mean safety and comfort
Less traffic on roads means low pollution, and Low pollution means clean air. Clean air means healthy people
Fewer people using available resources means more resources for general people in India. Smaller ques, better health care, faster law trial, more salaries, clean facilities, and many more things can be achieved by allowing more and more people to leave India, which is good
In the end, Brain Drain in India should be promoted instead of debated because it is helping not only the people but also the government of India to reduce the load on otherwise overwhelmed available resources in India

There is another reason.. not specific to Punjab , but the whole country … Everyone with two bits of brain knows that things will only get worse in India from employment, environment and political point of view … we understand the culture of the country very well … there is absolutely no easy path for average folks …. So it’s better to try abroad cause even if you become middle class there , life is much better and much secure for next generations …. There was a brief period in mid 2000s when India was suddenly looking promising for even expats and many people also came back , but eventually those days didn’t last …. Our major nemesis is our culture itself and that’s why we migrate towards better cultures … plain and simple
