In 1976 I started working waiting for my subscription intake to the army in July. Salary was ZAR 175 p/m minus taxes. On the way to the busstop I would pass a record shop and this is where I bought my first double LP and met Joe Cocker. Its very sentimental for me - by that time some of my school friends were killed in vehicle accidents, the war. Dverytime I listen to this song when finished will put the mobile down, switch of the lights and just stare into space.
Joe Cocker was one of my faves. Love this song.
Song writers didn't know at the time but Joe Cocker took others songs and made them his and gave them another life altogether, he was magic. RIP Joe you'll never be forgotten.

The Beatles, especially John Lennon, gave their full approval to his renditions of their songs. Only Joe Cocker could do what he did. I saw him in concert with my big Sister & BIL... Joe Cocker was electric. He opened with "You Can Leave Your Hat On". I'll never forget that concert. I also love his rendition of "Delta Lady". RIP Mr. Cocker.
