Great part of town - my stepdaughter shares a 2-bedroom at the other end of Thompson - she's a grad student at NY Academy of the Arts. Love the neighborhood. I'm only 5' 1" so loft area would not be a big prob, but would need to give up drinking to avoid any middle-of-the-night bathroom trips. A small sacrifice. 😥🍸🍹🍷
This looks like a great apt! The only downer is the bathroom on different floor than the bedroom. So hopefully you don't have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, half asleep, down those stairs!

Yup.. I'm down for this one.. the kitchen is extremely functional... this is a bidden gem in the village. wow!
They should have taken 1-2 feet from the ten foot ceiling and added it to the 5 foot ceiling.
That makes so much sense. Then the place would be nearly perfect.
This apartment is well-suited for a couple or college buddies to share. They'd be OK with the low-ceilinged sleeping loft, the rickety stairs and the small kitchen, and they'd like the entertaining space. They'd also be happy with all the eating places and the social activity, and just a short walk to class. I noted that there's a supermarket just one block away. However, it's not ideal for older folks with other interests. If shared, an apartment that is less per person usually lacks space and amenities, so it's a good choice if they can afford it.

Good size apartment, but having to walk down those stairs in the middle of the night to use the bathroom is a deal breaker for me.

Its not like its a split level home and the stairs seem solid. That said, I’d leave the stairway lights on 24/7. You don’t want to take a nasty header on the way down to the bathroom.
At least its stairs, some of the loft apartment only uses ladders, some has stairs but its really steep
Uggghhh this is SUCH a dream apartment for me! I love a little sleeping nook/cave situation and a balcony in the West Village!? Swoon.
So much choice now- the west village is the best and this apartment has its pros and cons, but its all an adventure if you’re starting out- Watch your head and be careful on the stairs😅❣️

Hey Cash.....nice apartment. I love the layout. The loft part upstairs could be used as a bedroom but someone would have to replace or ax that carpet and the curtains at the window. I am so amazed at the rents these days there. I am still watching them here too. Of course I love the kitchen. And the fact that there is laundry on every floor. Still that art deco apt near central park is my winner. Glad for showing more content. Thanks. Hey.....tried the Dunkin Donuts coffee.....you were right. It was more expensive for the small size. I can get 2x that amount for less at another place that is a lot better. But I had to add more cream to drink the whole thing....so thanks and will avoid them in the future. Love this place. The upper loft's ceiling is 5'2 and I'm only 5"0! LOL! Perfect!
It's really dark in there so you would have to get creative with lighting. I don't like the space between the stair treads, accident waiting to happen. The big thing for me though is the balcony. There's no separation from the neighbor so I wouldn't feel safe at all even with the door locked. Love you, Cash! 😘
My favorite part of town. I like more vintage and restored apartments though. Cool kitchen and balcony though.

Can't believe the rent for this neighborhood! Living room is large enough to put dining in front of the mirrored built-ins. I would have no problem using the loft at a bedroom, I'm short! 😂 Great one

The apartment is cute. Just a piece of advice and speaking from experience, measure at the top of those stairs before taking a bed up there. Actually, I would measure it before renting it. That may be a game changer.

Hello Again Cash another Awesome place it's worth $$
This one would not be for me as the bathroom and the sleeping loft are on different floors. I can imagine myself waking up at night, hitting my head on the low ceiling and potentially falling down the stairs. And honestly by the time I finally get to the bathroom another accident probably already happened which eliminates the reason I went there in the first place. I am just too clumsy to live there. The shelf above the sink is also to close to the medicine cabinet to put your toothbrush there, unless you have a really small toothbrush. The outside space can be a plus and you would be able to have a chair there if you have nice neighbors. Great place to have your morning coffee. But it also could be a potential disaster, if you don't like them. But the paper towel holder is a plus.... And so is the location. And although the apt would not be for me, the location is perfect.
Not being able to stand up straight in the bedroom and the apt. is too dark. Too much depressive vibes for my liking.

This apartment is 2 feet of ceiling (in the loft) and a microwave away from being a steal.
West Village would be my fantasy apartment for sure. But, I do agree with others that the stairs to the bathroom and a bedroom I can't stand up in is a no-go. Beautiful main space and kitchen though, and I could live with the quiet view!

Not sure about this one. FANTASTIC location! But 1) Can't stand up in the loft? No thank you. 2) No barrier between your side of the balcony and your neighbor's? So someone could come in your house from next door if your balcony door is unlocked? No thank you. Also, I hope they will repaint the bathroom cabinets... But location, doorman and laundry are all huge pluses!!

I wondered if I could move that mirrored closet upstairs, but alas, no. I'm 5'5 so that official loft area would be something I'd contend with. I like working out at home so I could easily strap in my gymnast rings on the stairs, workout in the living space, possibly self-tape in the loft. OK, this and that Central Park loft could be my jam!
This is a wonderful apartment for a shorter person - I wouldn't last too long in the loft as I'm 5'9"! I hate crouching over, especially coming off the stairs. Those steep stairs at my age (61) would be a "no," too. But for the right person, this place is excellent, even with the little patio place. It would be excellent for hanging boxes of herbs, veggies or with a bench/bistro table set up. The upstairs closet could be converted into an office space if you didn't need the storage. I was wondering if the mirrored closet could be a place to stash the TV/entertainment stuff - one side of it, that is. All in all, for the right person, this place is a steal. It wouldn't even be that bad to share laundry on the floor. The only other bummer is lack of microwave.

I lived right in front, on 181 Thompson! It's really the best place, 1 block to Soho, 1 block to groceries, few blocks to all subway lines.

My boyfriend and I think this place would be perfect for us!! So close to NYU. The price is phenomenal. Of course there are drawbacks but I’m guessing from all the people in the comments sh!tting on this space make hundreds of thousands a year and can afford a better spot. On a budget, in the W Village with a full bathroom, door man, elevator and laundry on the floor?! I’d like for them to find a better deal.
Great neighborhood and having a washer dryer so close is great but the loft area is a NO. I am betting it was a big studio that they added a rickety staircase to. The bottom floor is so big that you might add a Murphy Bed and the upstairs could be used for storage.

Just curious, is there any heating or AC vent towards the loft. Since hot air rises, even with the AC on in the summer, how hot would it get in the loft otherwise?

I have lived in several places where the bedroom and bathroom were on different levels. Getting out of bed and trying not to fall down the stairs when you're hurrying to the bathroom is a definite minus.

I've been hooked on your videos for a month now,and am seeing this a year late.That does seem a bit steep for a 'loft unit',but the location and set-up of this apt.are great.I guess a couple,or even a couple students could afford it.
Duplex is really on point, iffy on the ceiling height for the second floor room but it's a interesting apartment.

I can see this as a NYU roommate situation with one person sleeping upstairs and, for a cheaper share of the rent, someone downstairs. If you're over 30, the activity of the neighborhood is a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.
That part of the Village is basically a frat house when the NYU students are in town.
Cool layout, great space, but not enough light for my taste. You'd need to do some creative lighting to make the space feel more open and breath.

No worries. Keep it locked and they make those stoppers to keep people and kids from opening them. And, always have a little something for someone who wants to come in uninvited.
so if you happen to have nefarious neighbors there will be drama. just dont leave the sliding doors unlocked ever and use a curtain so they cant see what you have inside. speaking from experience.
I hear all y'all! Unfortunately, it's just too much for me. My doors are always locked and I do have sticks in my sliding panels, but I am just uncomfy with it in general.

Great video Unfortunately the apt isn’t worth 2.500 due to the surrounding area most places have gone of business or closed some days open others with confusing hours. Also can’t stand up up stairs so it’s really just a studio apt with a staircase in it lol. How do you get a mattress up those stairs? Ugh nyc should really learn to lower their apt prices or they’ll never sell. As far as the video though, really enjoy your videos. Ty
