Traditional Stained Glass Door Entrance Making

A project I completed making a couple of weeks ago that has now been fitted by my clients joiner. Thankfully my client sent me over some pictures so I've put together a little video edit showing some of the making process. All my work is workshop based so I never get to see my window fitted in person so it's always great when I receive photos.

You pre-cut and shape your came on a cartoon before you cut your glass? Skillful. I've only seen that done with quarry panels.

Nah I don't pre cut I personally find that doesn't work very well. Instead as these are an identical pair I leaded the first window and then used it as a template to cut the second window 👍

Im in awe as usual! But that cement stage really makes me cringe. It looks like all that work is being scratched and destroyed - when its not. Love to see you visit some of your work once installed!!

Yep the cementing process does look rather brutal but I promise it isn't 😂. I'd love to see them all fitted but I don't ever leave the workshop anymore as I'm always super busy just designing and making. Its brilliant when my clients send me pictures and I'll always try to include them in my videos 🫶

Hi Jan, first off I absolutely love stained glass windows, I often admire these in churches and think they're very beautiful in homes too, your creations are awesome. A question I have: can you use this when you want to have an energy efficient home? Will it be a cold spot or are there ways to remedy this? Thank you so much.

Maybe 25% of my projects are encapsulated in double glazed units before fitting. This would effectively be triple glazed windows 💛

I believe my client had the windows that I made secondary glazed on the inside of the house. My windows are around 7mm thick, this is due to the lead came 👍
